Alone. I took the train from Kingussie to Newtonmore after staying at the youth hostel at Kingussie. I walked from Newtonmore Railway Station via Glen Banchor, Dalballoch, Carn Macoul, Carn Dearg (SE and NW tops) to arrive at the summit of Carn Ban. The descent was via the upper reaches of Gleann Ballach, then following Allt Fionndrigh, Glen Banchor, Newtonmore and along the road to Kingussie. Hard snow and ice above 2250´. Some mist and wind. Much soft snow by Allt Fionndrigh and rain in the valley on the return. A few deer were seen on the lower slopes and several ptarmigan on the highest part of Carn Ban.pwbellarby09/02/1980
