Great hike for the stag do. Started at the Rowardennan hotel doing the classic anticlockwise loop heading east and up onto Sron Aoniach and up to Ben Lomond. Had some fun stag 'treasure hut' on the way (marriage advice, stones that look like Beth, beer on the trig etc). Then dropped NW the interesting way back, slightly technical. Had a swim in the tarn on Ptarmigan and eventually reaching the Loch for a skinny dip followed by a meal in Drymen. With the stag crew (losing Sammy about ⅓ up). Windy but no rain and very good vis!ByronHaywood08/07/2023

Lovely day for it. Went up the tourist path and was fine until I got within a thousand feet of the top. Once I got to the top, a blizzard blew me down the Ptarmigan path until I got to the valley between Lomond and the Ptarmigan. After that it was a twisty way down.JAdair9702/12/2020
With Nicky Creadland and Tricia Teeling, we followed the WalkHighlands route, up the Tourist path and down Ptarmigan Ridge, 6hrs all in. Blue skies and sunshine throughout, no snow on Ben Lomond, but all the hills north of Crianlarich has a decent covering of snow. this was my 150th Munro since August 2016 and 42nd for the year.chillyman819/11/2020

Starting from the Loch side we climbed the ptarmigan ridge in increasingly snowy and misty environment resulting in a whiteout, disorientating in extreme. Reached summit up steep ascent to trig point and beyond. an easy descent over icy then boggy ground.david.walker4006/03/2020

Drove down after work and left at 10PM to try and escape the crowds - bats a plenty and few midges. Weather turned horrendous out of the trees and was soaked to the knickers by the time I got to the very dark summit. Dropped off the ridge and camped - one of those nights where everything was dripping wet so I just huddled on my sleeping mat until morning. Typical midsummer camp - LMAO - loved it :)basscadet21/06/2011

The classic route from Rowardennan- main path up, Ptarmigan down. Midweek outside main holidays was good- the car park is frighteningly large- not too busy today. Cold on top, shower-cleaned limpid atmosphere. Glad I didn't do it as my last Munro, so much of the view is looking away from the Highlands it would have been an even more poignant moment than it was.pwheeler20/06/2008

Did this in 90s or early 2000s with a pal. Impromptu afternoon walk with no prep, maybe a bottle of water and a chocolate bar between us. A school group of Italian kids raced ahead of us. We eventually made it to the top and descended over the two side humps whatever they are called. I particularly remember that it seemed to be plateau after plateau going up the way. Our legs were like jelly when we hit the tarmac road at the end. Never had the same feeling in my legs before or since. I'm pretty sure we had a nice cup of tea and a scone afterwards.Baggin\' Annie12/06/2006

Solo. From Rowardennnan Youth Hostel. I joined the normal path to Ben Lomond. There was much evidence of work having been done on the footpath. I descended via the NW ridge where there is now an obvious path. Where the path turns to the SW I swung north on untracked land to the summit cairn of Cruinn a’Bheinn. I retraced my steps to rejoin the path from Ben Lomond. This passes over Ptarmigan and descends southwards to join the track along Loch Lomond just north of Ben Lomond Cottage. This is effectively a new path. There are several stretches of new work, although in other places it is very muddy. The weather was dry all day but very windy. The only snow was a snow field on the NE side of the summit of Ben Lomond.pwbellarby11/03/2000

Rowardenan Tarmachan ridge. Partner Michelle spent the afternoon sunning by Loch Lomond. Met Danish family on the summit and I chirpily said. Rather a few more hills here than in Denmark, reply, yes we've only one over 200m. Since then found out they don't even have that!! Also a very important day as I looked north to Beinn a'Chroin and having not yet been there, wondered what was the summit, which was the catalyst to me finding two 940m contour rings without heights on its west ridge and a series of letters off to the OS over next nine months which eventually teased out of them the new west ridge summit.vegibagger08/07/1997

Sunset and lovely afterglow over wintery peaks from summit after a late afternoon start with John H at the start of our winter Munro's week. John occupied with an expensive new camera lens and wearing a walkman! Full moon on snow made navigating down in the'dark' easy until we left the snow and entered the woods. Cooked mince and mash at car-lovely, then drove to Glencoe and camped by river. By chance I had now done Ben Hope and Ben Lomond -N & S most munros within 11 days and was to do Ben More -W most 8 days later.Chris Pearson11/03/1987
An interesting ascent from Rowardennan. Done on the way back from a New Year meet. Jon Hanson and I didthis leaving Pat Burke in the car. On descending we came across Pat ascending. He did not reurn and we had to call out the Rescue who came out later that evening. Before they went out, a call came in to say that pat had descended E into the wrong valley but had found a house with a phone. We picked him up and then went to Edinburgh to stay with Margot ? and headed home the next day.Bookerdddd03/01/1987

My brother really should ask me if he needs a hill date! My first Munro & first big hill outside Galloway. With Martin66, Shaky & a host of others. Tagged along on a friend's Sunday School trip. Ignoring the adults' suggestion to 'take small steps', we charged up the tourist path from Rowardennan in double quick time. A good view from the top that day. The steps we took on the way down weren't any shorter!NotReallyABagger26/05/1979
Pat and I climbed Ben Lomond on Sunday 27th August 1978. We had been at Jim and Una's wedding in Glasgow the previous day. Many years earlier we had attempted to climb Ben Lomond with Kirsty and Mhairi, but had to turn back when the girls would go no further - it turned out later that Kirsty was going down with chicken pox.langskill27/08/1978
With my son, Jonathan. We departed Rowardennan Youth Hostel and walked via the tourist path to Ben Lomond, then cross country to Inversnaid where we joined the rest of the family who had got there by boat. We crossed to Ardlui with a returning boat on a special trip and went by train to Crianlarich and the youth hostel there for the night.pwbellarby25/07/1978
