Left the car at roadside parking at 86502 40873 and walked on the grass verge to the track that swings around to the south of Foel boeth where a short heather bash leads to the summit, back on the track walked East to the building at Cwm Hesgyn one padlocked gate, and then followed a wet track north a further padlocked gate, reaching the track that bends round the south side of Graig Ddu following this before a heather bash over Graig Ddu and Craig yr Hafod, dropping through the heather to reach the track to the West and following this to the ROW through the forest above the car. Just under Nine and half mile and taking Four and Three quarter hours. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 02/10/2022 |
Parked at Llyn Celyn. An anti-clockwise round of:
Craig Y Garn, Graig Ddu, Craig Yr Hafod, Waun Garnedd Y Filiast, Carnedd Y Filiast, Carnedd Llechwedd Llyfn, Foel Boeth, Pen Garneddwen.

Some horrible heather bashing en route!! I'd do it this way round again. But you'd have to pay me a lot of money to go clockwise. | Minto | 27/05/2022 |
from llyn celyn cwm hesgyn tracks then pathless heather then on to Craig Ddu could only find a few sheep paths and Craig Y Garn nice rocky top again no paths with heather and boulders hard going return over farmland could not find the row running east to west marked on map | underhill | 30/01/2022 |

Parked at Celyn reservoir for a round of 6 summits: Foel-boeth, Carnedd Llechwedd-llyfn, Carnedd y Filiast, Waun Garnedd-y-Filiast, Craig yr Hafod, Graig Ddu. Tracks and paths for the first 4, rough going for the final 2. | PGCE | 05/02/2021 |
2/3 Dewey Walk. From the layby at SH 864 408 on the A4212. Up the good cart track through the forest and over moor to a height of 550m, just south of the summit of Foel-boeth. Short walk across fairly short heather to summit. Returned to the cart track and followed it east to the valley of Afon Hesgyn. Crossed the river (would be difficult after wet weather) and followed the zig zag track up the west side of Graig Ddu to SH 888 425. Then north along the ridge through fairly deep heather over the summit and down to the col between Graig Ddu and Craig y Hafod. Followed narrow track to up by wall to summit of Craig y Hafod and returned to the col and then down RoW to west to rejoin the cart track and back to the A4214. Unfortunately rather misty on top after a long walk there and back, but generally quick going on the cart track. 16km with 770m ascent in 4h40m. (S) | silveracorn_alan | 20/09/2020 |
With Rufus from Ysbyty Ifan. Track to Bwlch Blaen y Cwm then atv track to fence junction NE of Waugh Carnedd y Filiast. Along fence to Trum Nant Fach then ruined wall to head of Cwm Hesgyn and Llechwedd Du. Continued straight through thick heather for 2km over Craig yr Hafod (wall on map is ruined and buried under heather) and Graig Ddu. Descended W to Cwm Hesgyn track and returned via track towards Foel Boeth and contouring around the 500m mark to spot height 505m and path then track off the moor to Ysbyty Ifan. Long way round for these hills but a good journey in dry weather. | jacobrichmond | 16/04/2020 |

Parked 907452 off road just past gateway followed good footpath up Llechwedd Ddu then via Craig yr Hafod to top of Graig Ddu returned to car via tracks/footpath. Much easier using paths as much as possible to reduce time spent heather bashing. | Rob50 | 27/11/2016 |
Craig y Garn, Graig Ddu and Craig yr Hafod from E end of Lynn Celyn. Paths through fields were quite confusing in places and surprisingly wet and boggy in places! Saw a Barn owl perched on a branch just above ground level only a few yards away. | RobertP | 02/10/2016 |

Parked at Cae'r Gerrig and followed the path over the style to climb Craig yr Hafod and then Graig Ddu. Quite a bit of off path stuff, ploughing through boggy land and heather and billberries. | clivevilla | 03/02/2016 |
Parking near Hafod-yr-Esgob i first climbed Graig Ddu,followed the high ground to Trum Nant-fach and then climbed Moel y Gydros making a great circular walk. | mad max | 23/06/2015 |
From layby on B4501 up farm track then bit of a trudge through heather over Criag Ddu and Craig yr Hafod, particularly beyond latter. Easy track up Moel y Gydros then down to south and along access route (difficult to follow at first) and a mile of road walk. | SS | 05/10/2014 |
Second on way round to Carnedd y Filiast, after Craig y Garn. Difficult walking through heather. | Wheelsy | 21/06/2014 |
Parked easily on road by track to farm about 300m along from the telephone box. Most paths - particularly on Open Access - either tricky to follow or works of fiction. Ample heather and bog. | destaylor | 26/03/2014 |
