Parked at Cwm Bychan for a circuit of 8 Tumps. 15km in 6 hours 30: tough going. 4/8PGCE21/07/2022
Round of Clip, Craig Ddrwg, Craig Wion and the Morwynion trio from Cwm Bychan, all very rough going and utterly delightful. No hint of any path between the Morwynion TumpsColin Crawford10/10/2021
Top no. 10...On a hot long day finally Riyadh was my journey all along the rough and exhausting Rhinogs ridge from before the northerly Marilyn all the way down collecting all the tops & culminating in Rhinog Mawrvegibagger16/07/2021
Rhinog route from car park to E (Craigddu-isaf), in outstanding sunny weather. Followed good path E nearly to pass then traversed SW to in Llyn Du and climbed to summit of Craig Llyn Du (climbing the various boulders). Descended to W end of Llynand descended carefully WNW and then walked along W side of Gloyw Lyn before climbing to top of Carreg-y-saeth. Took traversing route E to join Roman Steps route near the pass, then climbed to Moel Morwynion SW Top, Moel Morwynion, Moel Morwynion NE Top, and finally Craig Wion. The section N of Roman steps very rough. Descended by stream running SE of Lyn Pryfed aiming to join footpath running S through forest. The path was barely evident on the ground and there was some rough terrain before reaching clearer paths.RobertP12/06/2021
2 day traverse from Talsarnau to Barmouth from NE topunderhill14/05/2021
Parked at Llyn Cwm Bychan for £3 in the honesty box, camping is available to but no facilities, up the Roman steps and then right on a path to Llyn Du and the first top Craig Llyn Ddu. Returned to the top of the Roman steps and headed for Moel Morwynion and Craig Wion. It would take six hours to get back to the car missing out Clip and Craig Ddrwg due to heat and lack of fluids. Six and half miles.WAYNE ROWLETT24/04/2021
Craig Llyn Du (Rhinog Fawr North Top) > Moel Morwynion SW Top > Moel Morwynion from GR: SH 68430 30204ronaldo33322/04/2021
Slow progress from nw top. Thought I'd best top up on calories too. Stopped just shy of the last big drop. The gulley looked a bit gnarly but with care was fine. The big fear is one if those big slabs moving. Climbed stony, grassy, heathery slope to arrive at last 500m top of a long day. Another super spot.stig_nest17/04/2021
A splendid walk / scramble across the rocky, magical outcrops of the northern Rhinogs. Parked at the car park at Cwm Bychan SH 645 314. Bagged 5 splendid Deweys, including Clip, Craig Ddrwg, Craig Wion, Moel Morwynion & Rhinog Fawr North Top (my 200th Dewey!). Also Moel Morwynion NE & SW Tops en route. Returned via the Roman Steps. Definitely a walk for a fine dry sunny day as this was, could be a navigational nightmare in the mist! 13.1km with 1600m ascent in 6 hours. (S)silveracorn_alan18/09/2020
Moel Morwynion and it’s NE & SW tops from Bwlch Tyddiad with Rufus. Parked at the forestry car park at SH 68409 30188 and followed track then trail past Pistyll Gwyn towards the Bwlch. Left the path when directly south of the SW top and weaved a way through outcrops, heather and bog to the 3 summits. Descended from NE top to the east then followed forestry fence N to the ROW near Hafod Gynfal. The 300m or so took around half an hour as the ROW is almost impossible to recognise and I ended up thrashing through spruce with increasing density. Took forest track back to parking. Poor visibility and pathless, really quite wild hills.jacobrichmond17/08/2020
Ascended after the SW Top - school tomorrow, so we had to leave the NE top to another day.DanMaisieBex14/07/2019
Circular from Cwm Bychan to Clip, Craig Ddrwg, Craig Wyion, Moel Morwynion, Craig Llyn Du. Perfect weather for it and a reasonable 'path' most of the way.Neolith17/06/2017
Large parking area at Cwm Bychan (Honesty Box) - Up Roman Steps to top of pass & then NE along faint & sometimes indistinguishable path to summit outcrop, bagging the SW Top along the way. Back to col and up Craig Llyn Du. (S)gerrybowes21/05/2017
From Llyn Cwm Bychan (camping at Dinas farm)fellowsa25/05/2016
From Craig Llyn Ddu. Navigation difficult through rocky and mostly pathless terrain. Saw the famous mountain goats near the summit.clivevilla19/05/2016
Parked at Cwm Bychan took the path up to the Bwlch next to Clip then across to Craig Wion then 3 tops of Moel Morwynion descended via Roman Steps back to Cwm Bychan.Rob5016/10/2015
Parked at the car park to east. Where road starts from A470 there is a sign on a gate showing No Access - but its only to a farm/holiday place nearby. No problem going through. Good path/track then a small path which disappears then its bits and pieces with old friends heather and co. No ferns.destaylor15/09/2015
Circuit of 3 Deweys from Cwm Bychan via The Roman Steps. The distance is short but the terrain is tough and navigation is challenging. Real sense of remoteness.wychwood30/11/2014
Continuation of walk from Craig Wion. Followed faint path SSE then SSW over two minor tops and three bwlchau, and then scrambled up to Pt.499m. Continued on faint path, scrambling down a rock-cleft into a boulder-filled gully, then steeply up other side onto a plateau. Then scrambled over more boulders and by an easy ledge to gain the summit on a rugged sloping plateau. Walk continued to Pt. 497m. With DM and MP on a survey.Man of Kernow121/09/2014
Parked at Llyn Cwm Bechan. Roman steps up to Craig Llyn Du via fair path along wall skirting round the west of the summit. 20 goats on top. Descended to Roman steps on path to east of summit then navigation nightmare began in thick mist and constant heavy rain. Don't try it without a satnav! Moel Morwynion south west top, Moel Morwynion, Moel Morwynion north east top, Craig Wion. Extremely rough going over pathless mature heather and rock with repeated descents of mini-crags (via safe but scrambly cracks in the crags). When I say pathless, there were plenty of sheep trods with boot prints/'paths' but always going somewhere else and contantly disappearing - follow your bearing and not these 'paths'. Finally descent on public right of way below Clip.ijpowell03/10/2013

Fairly easy climb up from vicinity of Bwlch Tyddiad after dropping down from Craig Llyn Du. Not many hints of things to come.chriswatson16/08/2012
Northern Rhinogs ridge including all listed tops from from Moel y Gyrafolen to Rhinog Fawr, with Mark, Andrew and Chris. Parked at SH683336.davidpettit8424/03/2012
With MJ, DP & CA. See David's log. Complete traverse of Nuttalls, Deweys and other peaks north from Rhinog Fawr. Is it summer already? Interesting granite terrain!AGWilliamson24/03/2012
Same as AW and DP - on CUHWC Easter trip, in a March heatwave and glorious sunshine. Mostly very rough and slow going, but fascinating terrain and a real sense of exploration.Mark Jackson24/03/2012

Llyn Cwmbychan- path NE of Bwlch Gwylim- Craig Wion- Moel Morwynion- Llyn Du- Rhinog Fawr- Gloyw Lyn- Llyn Cwmbychan. My log for Craig Wion gives the character of this part of the ridge, continuing over this summit. We dropped down to the Roman Steps via Llyn Morwynion, then carefully found paths to climb through deep heather and rock terraces to Rhinog Fawr (qv log for route details). Atmospheric mountain walking, utterly absorbing; with Pete. Cloudy (but high base) and cool.pwheeler22/07/1986
