A lovely walk from Barmouth across the Mawddach bridge then up through woods to Cyfynnedd-fawr, then following the (somewhat boggy) footpath east across the foot of the hill, switching back onto the permissive path heading SW to the fence, then followed the grassy slope up to the summit. Stupendous views of the southern Rhinogydd all the way up, and a marvellous view of Cader from the top of the slopes to the east of the summit. Carried on round the rim of the escarpment to Craig y Llyn. | thesweetcheat | 16/09/2022 |
As others, parked on verge at 657 134, and followed the old road up to the pass. Then branched off to the trig at Pen y Garn, across country with quite a drop and re ascent to Esgair Berfa, then followed sheep trods by fence lines over Trawsfynydd to Braich Ddu with its fantastic view over the Mawddach estuary, before descending to the old road at the pass by an easy track on the north side of the fence. Finished the route with a short excursion off the old road to Craigmerwydd - a charming minor peak. Altogether 16km in distance with 650m ascent, taking 4h 30m. | silverwolf_alan | 08/08/2022 |

From Fairbourne up by quarry and on using forest roads to Braich Ddu then following fence lines (stiles on most) over Trawsfynydd to Esgair Berfa. Back down to land rover track (and inevitable land rovers) then over Pen y Garn and back down to quarry (one awkward wall). | SS | 25/10/2015 |
Parked on the mountain road SW of Cyfannedd. Very difficult to access this road from Friog unless driving in a northerly direction - even then it is a very narrow and steep start. Carried onto Llwyngwril and took the mountain road - 4 gates. Followed tracks and paths to the summit. | destaylor | 30/04/2015 |
From Llynnau Cregennen car patk. Continued over Tyrrau Mawr | jim pererin | 17/11/2014 |
Continuation of walk from Trawsfynydd. Headed NE to boggy bwlch, then NE again, skirting forest, to fence corner. Climbed tricky barbed wire fence to join footpath with stiles around north edge of forest and to unmarked summit - grassy knoll a few metres from fence junction. | Man of Kernow1 | 15/06/2014 |

Start ~ 657134. From Esgair Berfa. Climbed the rough ground over Trawsfynydd before rounding the conifer forest to the right and reaching the summit of Braich Ddu. What a fantastic view over the Mawddach Estuary. With Wombourne. | steve hudson | 28/06/2010 |

fine grassy hill, lovely views N over barmouth. road (driveable track) to W | RHW | 10/05/1998 |
On traverse of Cadair Idris tops from Dolgellau: Gau Craig to Braich Ddu including Cyfrwy. Then down to Arthrog. Sunshine but also brief patches of cloud on the tops, hazy, typical nice summer day on the hills. A long-awaited, long planned walk even to the detail of driving up the road towards Bwlch Goch, 25 mins walk from Dolgellau, to ensure catching the last bus back. It took 8 hrs. Highly recommended (6 Nuttalls). | pwheeler | 31/08/1996 |
