Along fence from Tarren cwm FfernolMoorponder28/06/2022
From Dolgoch waterfall walks that eventually led up through west side woodland and up onto open hillside for a long day over satellites of Tarrenhedre and Tarren y Gesail back down into Aberglynolwen three miles back along the main road to Dolgoch car park.vegibagger15/06/2022
Mynydd Rhyd - galed East Top > Tarren Nant y Mynach > Tarren Cwm - ffernol > Trum Gelli > Pen Trum - gwr from GR: SH 64951 04660ronaldo33302/06/2022
Parked at the pay and display car park near Dolgoch station walked down the road to reach a track that can be followed to the base of Pen Trum-gwr after summiting this hill its easy to head for Tarren cwm-ffernol using the fence as a hand rail returned by the same route. Seven and half miles in under four hours.WAYNE ROWLETT30/05/2021

From SH627012 at the end of the road from Rhyd-yr-onen. The road ends just beyond the wood marked on the 1:25k map where there is space for several cars. Up track running E, join the higher track, then contour the cwm. One barbed wire fence. Galltywenallt06/03/2020
On Rhydyronen -Corlan Fraith- Bryn Dinas- Tarren Cwm-ffernol -Pen Trum-gwr- Brynglas Sta. walk with Pete. Final leg of a very enjoyable walk- essentially pathless but the heather and bilberry descent was short and springy. The hill track shown on the map doesn't really start until farmers vehicle tracks from the two sheepfolds meet. I am not sure I can recommend this route, though it is very pleasant, as the gates to the field immediately before Brynglas/Pandy Farm bear Private. No access without permission. notices. This may be a legal formality as we were waved through cheerfully by the farmer. A very good day out was concluded by a train ride back. Single fares are available, for short distances they are about what you would pay for a bus fare. The guard had never known anyone to have booked this journey before.pwheeler13/09/2018
Parked in layby (or long passing place - still left room for passing) at 992649 and went up the track opposite past Dysyrnant where there were three noisy sheepdogs. Climbed Bryn Dinas then over to two Deweys (Tarren Cwm-ffernol and Pen Trum-gwr) before retracing my steps and going across to Corlan Fraith and descending the same track. Great January sunny day - about 4 hours.clivevilla26/01/2018
Parked in carpark for Dol Goch falls. Walked up to the station and then by a boardwalk and path to the good track that leads up towards Tarrenhendre. At the sheep folds branched right on a still good track and then left. Continued on track and eventually took a right fork. Track soon gave out but the ridge between Tarrenhendre and Tarren Cwm-ffernol was soon reached. Followed ridge to top of Tarren Cwn-ffernol. Fair to good path all the way. Followed fence to where a fence comes in. Turned right and followed fence to top of Pen Trum-gwr. Vague path in places. Down to a track in NW direction to where it crosses a stream. Track gains height and then drops down back to the sheep folds. Walked back to the car park.MikeM14/07/2017

Continuation of walk from Tarren Cwm-ffernol. Dropped down north-west to bwlch and then up to summit - HP unclear - could be on peat hag some 20m SE of cairn. Contoured round hill on descent to pick up track on NE side of hill, and so down to ruins, picking up outward route back to Dolgoch. With DM.Man of Kernow115/03/2015
