From Claerwen Reservoir Dam Car Park up track a short distance then direct route to Craig Fawr then onto Craig Dyfnant then over to Nant y Gadair valley and track back to car park.dgresty17/03/2022
Parked at the dam for a circuit of Craig Fawr (went straight up from the dam) and Craig Dyfnant.PGCE20/07/2021
Walked from Craig Dyfnant keeping left using sheep trods and ATV tracks but still plenty of molinia tussocks, thankfully dry after this April's drought.Rob Rees01/05/2021
Afternoon walk from the end of the Claerwen dam. A path skirts across the steepest hillside above the reservoir, allowing gentler climb from the back (WNW). Visited two or three possible summit locations. Drizzle quite persistent, warm and breezy.Hillad05/08/2020
Craig Fawr and Craig Dyfnant from Claerwen Resr dam car park. Easy up steep slope to Craig Fawr, then hard going through long grass to Craig Dyfnant. Then dropped down too high up Nant y Gadair valley, slow progress over tussocks. Back along the reservoir cart track to the dam. 9km with 250m ascent in 3 hours. (S)silveracorn_alan02/08/2020

First of four Deweys on a 17 mile walk starting from the dam car park for Claerwen reservoir. the route then took in Craig Dyfnant over open ground before dropping down to the path around the reservoir to the far end then once again over open ground to Dibyn Du and Crug Gynon.WAYNE ROWLETT05/05/2018
Parking area by dam at 871636 - Along RoW for a few yards & then steep climb up grass slope - As slope becomes less steep, picked up an ATV track which can be followed to within 70yd of unmarked summit. Continued to Craig Dyfnant. (PM)gerrybowes30/01/2018
From the car park at 871636. Direct ascent with GB before heading to Dyfnant.bolton30/01/2018
Pathless walk over Craig Fawr and Craig Dyfnant from Parking at Dam.rhalstead23/12/2017
We parked up in the car park near Nantgwyllt Church, walked round the reservoir for a while before heading up to the Cwm Elan mines and on up Nant Methan to Craig Dyfnant then across to Craig Fawr. Very rough tussock terrain on top.Neolith08/10/2017
Parked at Claerwen Reservoir by the dam and took the good track along the north bank. Left this at 842660 and went across mainly pathless terrain to the summit of Llethr Hir. Difficult boggy and tussocky so tried to return to 842660 a lower route which was better to start but then got even worse. Not exactly an easy stroll. Returned along track and left it on path at 883652 for a short way before leaving it and heading straight for the summit of Craig Dyfnant. A little easier but still not easy. Then headed for Craig Fawr keeping a little left to reduce the amount of descent into the valley before striking out for the summit with a shortish final descent back to the track near the car park. 4 1/2 hours.clivevilla03/10/2017
Spent day walking a few hills and benchmarking in the valley below.Dusty09/04/2017
Parked by the reservoir, plenty of space. Good warm up to summit of Craig Fawr. Quite steep at start. Took in all the other points mentioned as well. Walked (staggered) across to Craig Dyfnant and all other points. Took a route round top of Nant y Gadair. Thought about taking in Priddellau but as the going was rough dropped down the Nant y Gadair to the ruins shown on 1:25000. Walked down good track from there to its join with the reservoir track and on this back to car park. Generally rough with a few quod bike tracks and sheep trods. Rest trackless hummock grass. Hard going.MikeM05/07/2016
2/5 Second of snowy cold day (Craig Dyfant/Craig Fawr/Pen Garn Ddu/Cnwch/Carn Gafllt)Fergalh06/03/2016
From Claerwen Reservoir (SN 87073 63631). A few paces along the east bank of the reservoir then a direct ascent to the summit.david23020107/06/2015
From dam straight up Craig Fawr then over tussocks and bog to Craig Dyfnant. Descent from latter to burn was made harder by wet slippery turf. Not hills to remember but this area has wild beauty.SS25/04/2015
Easy parking. Direct - zig-zag!destaylor26/07/2014

2/2 on day watershed from N quite boggy with long grass tiring. Summit again flat with 3 mounds claiming top spot I lean to the land SE of a greener knoll. From the summit look for a distinct gap in the forest on the SW skyline as a marker to the carRhayader_wander18/02/2007
