Parked at 066170 and ascended directly via the gate on the other side of the road bridge and up through steep woodland and a stone feature. Descended via a series of waterfalls and well defined path back to the car park. Summit in sheep pasture behind BWF but easy to access.Vulcan05/03/2023
Parked at 066170 at start of forestry road. Good tracks all the way to summit pasture. Excellent views on a glorious spring morning.Campbell Singer09/02/2023
Circular walk from Talybont reservoir car park up Allt Lwyd, to Waun Rydd and down past cairn following path.. Gate on to Allt Forgan for flat top sheep pasture. Back down via forest tracks.PeterD22/11/2022
9 mile solo run from Torpantau … Bryn out and back then Allt Forgan via the bomber memorial … top is well defended by fences but according to my OS 1:25k maps this is open access land so it’s OK to climb fences provided there is no damage .. nice views from top but not the most exciting hillmilejunkie06/07/2022
Descending down from Pant y Creigiau, down slippery muddy banks before eventually rejoining the Taff Trail briefly before walking through Blaen-y-Glyn car park and following the waterfalls up stream before contouring up the hillside and hopping a gate to summit, descended into Talybont Forest and followed the gravel back to the car parklboutside28/02/2022
From parking west of Talybont reservoir at 05648 17594 using the path for the water fall and crossing the footbridge to gain the start of the climb up Allt Forgan, route continued to Tor y Foel, Bryniau Gleision and Pant y Creigiau. Twelve and half miles for the four tops in Five and a quarter hours.WAYNE ROWLETT05/02/2022
From top forest car park - up track to end - cut down to stream - crossed this to a path - up to stile - fence to col - paths to summit.Chris Peart12/10/2021
With Chris Peart. Summit area very flat and high point not obviousColin Crawford12/10/2021
Parked at Blaen y Glyn Uchaf and walked up to Pant y Creigiau, along to Bryniau Gleision, down into the valley and back up through the forest to Allt Forgan. With 18 year old son. Weather mild and overcast.clyoung19/06/2021
Parked in wide entrance to forest at SO066170, then along forest road. After first cattle grid, turned left through gate to climb grassy field. Through second gate into summit field. Returned via farm track, which was much muddier.PGCE31/03/2021
Another failed attempt to reach the summit, put off by barbed wire blocking path.clyoung05/09/2020
Parked in wide entrance to forest at SO066170, then along forest road and farm access track to access land. Short walk from track up to the high point. 6km with 270m ascent taking just 1h 20min.silveracorn_alan25/07/2020
Parked at the top forest car park and took the road down east to the forest track described by others. Made the mistake of taking a first sharp left after 800m onto a grassy track west. Do not make the same mistake! The track soon petered out into an overgrown boggy path in the forest. Then it disappeared altogether. I struggled steeply up through the forest, over a barbed wire fence and high fly-ridden bracken, working my way around the south flank to a fence. Then it was fine to the summit. Solo. Onwards to Bryniau Gleision.Man of Kernow120/07/2020
A pleasant and easy walk up forest tracks with superb views all around. Peak bagging giving a good excuse to get out and feel Spring arriving soon!Rob Rees22/02/2020
Walked over from Storey Arms to visit Nuttalls at E end of main Beacons then dropped from Allt Lwyd, contouring round to Allt Forgan, flat topped no distinct summit. Dropped SSW to road at river crossing--probably would be overgrown later in yearrichardrosser06/05/2019
From the top car park and up the path to Craig y Fan Ddu. Plenty of people on the lower slopes but above 600 metres they melted away. There were a few snow patches above 600 metres. I carried on to the summit of Waun Rydd which carried a dusting of snow and some impressive icicles coming off the peat hags. Visited all 3 high points before heading down to Bryn. This was a great viewpoint but as the weather was closing in I back tracked to the summit of Waun Rydd. I headed south through a blizzard to Cwar y Gigfran. The wind was ferocious and I was pleased to get off the plateau on the path to Allt Forgan. The summit was unmarked but the high point was fairly obvious as at this height I was below the cloud base and there was even some watery sunshine. It was then a bit of a slog getting back to the car as I couldn’t cross the river until I reached the wooden footbridge which then meant a reascent through the woods. Time taken 4 hours for 10.5 miles.isabelle17/03/2019
From Blaen-y-glyn upper car park SO057176 to Bwlch y Ddwyallt, Bryn, Waun Rydd, Allt Lwyd and Allt Forgan.welshyboyo29/05/2018
After walking round hills near Aberdare rain set in so headed up here to try and find dryer conditions. It was even wetter!Dusty22/04/2018
Parked in wide entrance at start of forest track at 066170 - Up track to junction at 0735 1785 - Turned left & up track to gate at top of forest - Continued WNW along track to an overgrown low wall & then a short ascent to the unmarked featureless summit. Returned same way, a round trip of about 3½ miles. (S)gerrybowes20/02/2018
Car at the foot of the BW near Abercynafon. Via BW, forestry tracks to the edge of the forest and then an easy plod over moor to the top.Moorponder09/10/2017
Parked at bottom of forest access road (SO065170) and followed this until farm access track (SO073178) which lead to summit.Ramblingpaul26/09/2017
Bwlch y Ddwyallt, Waun Rydd, and Allt Forgan from Blaen-y-glyn car park.Fred Windsor12/07/2017
Climbed from Blaen y Glyn car park, ended up on wrong side of fence for summit.clyoung26/03/2017
Ticked off coming down off Waun Rydd. The way off the SW is not particularly pleasant. Nor is the walk back up to the car park!huwthomas22/01/2017
On the return from Fan Y Big, bagged after the Cwar y Gigfran cliffs & the Memorial to the Wellington crew.DanMaisieBex28/10/2016
From the lower car park, straight up steeply wooded slope, track eventually found, easy from there, but still steep. Made a circular walk of it, penetrating forest to E at SO 07115 17693 and folowed forestry vehicle tracks back to the road at SO 06657 17005.jonglew03/10/2016
Started in top car park above the Talybont reservoir. Walked out on main path taking a left turn after a few hundred metres. Continued on path to edge of forest and turned right and downhill to stream. Forded stream and then up the other side to where the incline is less steep. Turned E of S to continued to top of Allt Forgan. Crossed two fences on way. Dropped down to lower car park and then on to Beacons Way. Note Were stream cross Beacons Way at edge of forest and felled area there appears to have been a collapse of the track. Turned right and climbed up to Taff Trail through the felled area. Turned left on Taff Trail and followed to where path up from Abercynafon Farm comes in on left. Turned right and followed path to where several paths join near Pen Rhiw-calch. Nice seat for lunch there. Turned right and followed right hand path to Pen Bwlch Glasgwm. Continued on track to where another track on right leaves main track at right angle. Followed this and over moor to top of BryniauMikeM12/05/2016
from talybont res car park SO 099196 round of Allt Lwyd Waun Rydd, Bryn, Bwlch Y Ddwyallt, Craig fan Ddu , Allt Forgan back thru Talybont Forest to CPunderhill20/01/2016

Pant y Creigiau and Bryniau Gleision from the upper car park then back to car park and Allt Forgan. The track from the car park towards Allt Forgan ends abruptly with only a faint path to continue on. This gets very boggy before disappearing altogether. On the way back there is an obvious track/path through the forest but it is difficult to find on the way out (a small path leading off the track to the left).clivevilla25/06/2015
From Blaen-y-glyn Lower Car Park near Talybont Reservoir (SO 06251 17046) - Allt Forgan. Followed forest track at SO 06662 17001 then joined minor track at SO 07352 17843 to gate at top of track, from here a short distance to the summit. Descended via the same route.david23020125/05/2015
Took note from hodder and tried ‘path’ beyond road end at top car park. Managed to battle though to fence line. Then on to natural stepping stones about 400m upstream. Easy angles from there. On return avoided ‘path’ and instead found stile just to west leading to real path back to forestry road (it is obvious on your left after about 200m from car park taking firebreak).SS17/03/2015
Start ~ 062170, Carpark. Followed the track up to the waterfalls before crossing on a footbridge. Carried on up the valley for a while before turning directly for the summit. With Wombournesteve hudson30/10/2013
Start GR 062170 forestry car park. Followed track through forest until bridge allowed us to cross river. Continued up on path until below summit then headed steeply up grass/heather slope to top. Descended down E ridge then into forest. With SH.wombourne30/10/2013
Dolygaer - Cefn yr Ystrad - Bryniau Gleision - Pant y Creigiau - Allt Forgan - Allt Lwyd - Waun Rydd - Fan y Big - Dolygaerdavidpettit8406/07/2013
Easy parking to SSW. Not much by way of paths but OK.destaylor11/04/2013
Up the stream and water falls before turning off and following the fence to the summit. Lots of areas could be the highest point.rhalstead06/04/2013
From CP at bottom of Blaen Y Glyn waterfalls, over newish wooden FB, then NE and E. No real paths up the west slope and rough scrub and residual snow made it difficult. Barbed fence at top and no stile? Returned by going north on clearer path, then west and down to the path running south alongside river and waterfalls.dicky16/01/2013
climbed this on return from walking horseshoe around craig fan ddu easy climb but had to negotiate 2 fencesrussf6913/05/2012

walked on the the main pathway through talybont forest from the direction of blaen-y-glyn. Their is a smaller path here straight out to allt forgan (not marked on the 1:50,000 map)hodder23/01/2009
Open summit without obvious high point easy access from Waun Rhydd but tougher going on lower slopes heading back to carRhayader_wander29/06/2007
Solo from car park- Forest hell, then set off climbing the wrong hill until I realised nothing fitted. Down to the Brecons for a few days to help supervise a Gold D of E group with Jenny L and Peter from Seaford.Chris Pearson19/04/2006
