Near but not at trig in reedy grass. Wind turbines. Sunny.Denise 18/02/2024
From Bwlchgarw on bikers tracks up the steep grassy slope with views E of the impressive landslip on the slope of Werfa. Pasture summit of rough grass / reed grass with trig pillar and rise to NE of very similar height to ground by trig pillar. Skylarks singingRichardM18/02/2024
9 mile run loop from car park in Caerau SS854194 .. good mix of bike and forest tracks to SS885935 then up to gate and turbine track then short hack to to trig .. back down to turbine track then left at SS896950 … this is a cracking track that drops down to Croeserw. Was going to finish off with Foel Fawr but access track was fenced off with a security guard on duty who told me they were ‘developing the summit’milejunkie01/09/2023

Blaengarw to Llangeinor. Very pleasant day; sunny, but quite chilly with a stiff wind on the tops. Didn't see any other walkers, but encountered about a dozen motorcyclists in twos & threes.Smudge25/02/2023
Final top of three on a superb anti-clockwise horseshoe walk above the Garw valley, starting in Llangeinor and ending in Blaengarw via Werfa, Mynydd Caerau and the Garw Forest. Fine barrow group on the summit. Descended SW, the new windfarm confused my navigation by blocking the footpath at the top of the forestry, and it was starting to feel a long way by this point, but the walk through Garw Forest to one final cairn was very pleasant.thesweetcheat05/03/2022
Parking in Abergwynfi. Circular of Mynydd Ynyscorrwg, Mynydd Blaengwynfi, Twyn Crugyrafan (Graig Fawr), Werfa (Mynydd Llangeinwyr), Mynydd Caerau, Coetgae Isaf.Arbie11/01/2022

Space for one car at SS 873 957. A nice round of Coetgae Isaf and Mynydd Caerau (summit, trig and alternative highpoint).PGCE02/04/2021
5/7 Dewey day. From Blaengwynfi following the zig zag forest road to the mast, then further forest roads to Mynydd Ynyscrrwg, then around the head of Cwm Gwynfi using easy road past turbines before branching off to the right to the Mynydd Blaengwynfi trig just off the track on the right. Retracing the route back to the main forest road and south east to SS 918 962 from where the edge of the forest is followed to the broken trig of Twyn Crugyrafan. A slight descent to cross the A4107 at the summit then up access road to the masts at Werfa, behind which the summit trig hides. Then following small tracks over the grassy top of Werfa west down to the col, where the new wind farm road is joined up the hill before branching off to the trig at the summit of Mynydd Caerau. Finally back to the col and then easy traverse of the grassy pasture heading north along the bridleway until a really awkward and very steep descent without track has to be negotiated down into Abergwynfi, and then througsilveracorn_alan26/07/2020
Fourth of four Deweys Mynydd Baengwynfi, Twyn Crugyrafan, Werfa and Mynydd Caerau from the parking area in Blaengwynfi. Three and half hours for the Eight and half mile circular route.( There is a track leading west from Werfa to the base of Mynydd Caerau that is not on the map)WAYNE ROWLETT22/03/2020

From Blaengarw, up on track and then beeline through forest, down very steeply via forest edge and bridleway. Neither recommended.rhalstead10/03/2019
Parked in Blaengarw and followed forest road, turning right onto footpath at SS899940. Steep ascent to summit.Ramblingpaul25/02/2019
Parked in Scotch Street, Abergwnfy. Straight up steeply onto moorland with pasture. Then onto windfarm road and then back up onto more open moor.Campbell Singer12/12/2018
From Abergwynfi. Steep at start but then easier going over sheep pastures. Scramblers on bikes near summit.Jemma Singer12/12/2018
Parked on roadside at E. end of Abergwynfi. Intended to follow RoW, but little evidence of it on the ground. Up road past garages, over BWF, steep climb up grass slope & on to Bwlchgarw – Continued up to wind turbine service road – W. along service road & shortly after passing turbine on left, headed SSE for a fairly easy walk of less than ½km up to the trig point. From Werfa. Headed west on a boggy path to Bwlchgarw, then steeply up south-west by the forest edge on an eroded path, diverting west at its highest point to the summit. Great views south and west. Onwards to Coetgae Isaf. Solo.Man of Kernow117/06/2017
From the N parking roadside in Abergwynfi, steep grassy slope initially. Wind farm seems complete but none were working despite stiff breeze. Dropped down to SS 8912 9411 for the Llynwr Fawr trig surface block before returning.jonglew03/01/2017
Parked at end of the road at Blaegwynfi and then followed footpath up into forest and then out onto hillside and up between Mynydd Caerau and Werfa. Onto Mynydd Caerau first then onward to Werfa before returning to Blaegwynfi on a lovely sunny morning.Dugswell221/10/2016
From Werfa, plenty of trail bike tracks. Good views from top over Swansea bay and North Devon. Trig point seemed like HP. Wind Farm development in full swing with FP back to road closed and best avoided due to heavy trucks using bulldozed track even on a Saturday. Went back over Werfa.PeterD06/08/2016
Started in Upton Street, Blaegwynfi and followed track up into forest. Followed track to SS 89982 96953 and turned left. Again followed track. Quite a mess in places with bike tracks cutting the track up. Turned right at SS 89965 97370 and followed track to Mynydd Blaengwynfi. Reversed track for a short distance and then followed a series of paths and tracks to Twyn Crugyrafan. Descended to road and then up to top of Werfa. Crossed moor and climbed up to top of Mynydd Caerau. Steep at start of climb up. Walked across moors back to Blaengwynfi. Good walk. Mainly on tracks and paths but badly cut up in places by the boys on bikes.MikeM05/05/2016
From Werfa, over BWF and followed track west to its end, over grass moor and downhill to pick up a second track, up to RP and rough moor to column. Nice hill.arranc17/09/2015

From car park below pass out past masts and trig point and on down the scrambling track (with trail bikers) and up the bulldozed track before easy ground to the trig point on Mynydd Caerau. Returned same way with a quick visit to Twyn Crugyrafan before returning to the car.SS15/03/2015
From Abergwynfi. What a depressed village. A whole street bar one house was boarded up. It is a stiff initial climb and then a march across to a col before another fairly stiff pull to the right of the forest.clivevilla14/03/2015
3/5 climbed up from the village of Abergwynfi an easy hike and fantastic views. Trig point is to the right of the forest when approaching climbed up via the ridge on left sideFergalh08/02/2015
Start ~ 926952, roadside parking. Done on a route over Werfa, on to Mynydd Caerau and returning along the track to Twyn Crugyrafan. Remains of trigs on all three summits. Wind and rain latterly, with Wombourne.steve hudson31/10/2013
Start GR 926952. Did Werfa, Mynydd Caerau and Twyn Crugyrafan. With SH.wombourne31/10/2013
Parked on grass just off road on corner at beginning of track to Werfa. Good track until the last ascent - but no problems.destaylor08/11/2012
Circular walk from Abergwynfi. Steep climb from houses to start.Dusty07/05/2009
walked from mynydd llangeirwyr trig pillar looks like its going to fall down. higher ground north west of the trig pillarhodder26/07/2008
Not a bad walk over from Werfa. The track is quite damaged by all the 4x4 and trail bikers that use these hills. The ground was pretty frozen today which made the going easier. The trig has a chunk missing out of it near the bottom and hence the damaged cFather Ted18/12/2005
