Road to Dobgill now open which saved me a road walk.
£4 for 5hrs was quite reasonable.
Went up zig-zags to Harrop Tarn and then up Watendlath bridleway (alleged - it would have to be a Shetland pony) and across moor to summit.
Returned via Brown Rigg. | chriswatson | 05/03/2024 |

A rather boggy circuit from Steel Fell car park (road to Dobgill still closed). Up past Harrop Tarn, then wet and brackeny along edge of forest to Brown Rigg. Hard pull over Blea Tarn Fell, then easier to Standing Crag and High Saddle. Hit Wythburn Fell spot on with the GPS and easy descent. Added 5 Birketts and a Fellranger. | BURGESS | 06/07/2023 |
From steel end car park on a cloudless day | holtsd | 22/06/2023 |
13 Birkets after 4 weeks no rain - bone dry apart from (thankfully) a few springs. Road all closed off, so a bit of a trudge along the road after Fisher Crag back to start at Steel End carpark. Hd hoped to drop off bike at descent point to road. | Dave Sargent | 13/06/2023 |

Up steeply from road. No paths to speak of. Nice terrain once higher up. Down through the forest and starting to gently rain. | vegibagger | 17/05/2022 |

Ignored the Road Closed sign and parked in car park at GR 316142. Followed the path climbing steeply up through the forest then across open heathland to a windy summit. Returned by same route. With SH. | wombourne | 04/04/2022 |
Start ~ 316142, Dobgill car park. Followed RoW up through the forest passing Harrop Tarn. Rather windy once we got to the open hillside but not too boggy. Bell Crag summit is a great viewpoint, returned via the same route and even managed to stay dry. With Wombourne. | steve hudson | 04/04/2022 |

From Dobgill as road closed due to fallen trees. Wasn't planning on quite such a long loop but was having too nice a time to turn around. Bell Crags, Watendlath Fell, Shivery Knott, Middle Fell, Armboth Fell (both tops) and Fisher Crag. Solo. | Fionalevey | 02/02/2022 |

From Dobgill car park. Via Brown Rigg, fiddly pathless ascent around the crags, but nothing difficult apart from tussocky grass. Continued to do a round of the Armboth area fells. Dry conditions, nothing more than small wet patches that could usually be jumped. | Nick Caunt | 19/04/2021 |
This is a fantastic-looking hill as you approach it from Thirlmere. Bumped into a herd of red deer as we came up the craggy east slopes. With Alfie. | Dangerous Dave | 18/04/2021 |
