3/5 Dewey Day: Iron Band over rough boggy moorland from the cattle grid on county boundary on the B6276. Could see Balderhead Resr and my old stomping ground of Water Knott from the summit! 4km with 120m ascent taking just 1 hour. | silveracorn_alan | 22/10/2022 |
Good parking just NE of road HP (NY830199). Gate at road HP, compass bearing over trackless grass, guns to the L, guns to the R, ATV track along summit crest. Intermittent faint bits of ATV track in descent. Bone dry. | Isbjorn | 13/08/2022 |
1/3. Parked by the Cattle Grid (room for about 5 cars here) they followed fenceline up, across right to reach the ridge near the stones and then along the edge to find summit. Also found the curry stool trig point which was interesting. Then back to road, up Bridleway on West of road to reach Ley Seat and Helbeck Fell as MOD land open today for access. Back via the track round the base of the hills to make a nice circuit. About 2.5 hours total. | nickywood1 | 07/08/2022 |
From Deadman Gill. Pretty dry. | chrisbien | 13/07/2022 |

From Deadman Gill Bridge on the B 6276, where the red flag flies. Headed ESE over the broken stile up to the summit, returning in a bit of a loop above some crags. With AT. | Man of Kernow1 | 08/02/2020 |
From Helbeck fell in mist and back to cattle grid. Worth it for the exercise but nothing else. | Wycombe Wanderer | 04/01/2020 |

From Deadman Gill Bridge, red flag flying. Open moor but much easier than expected. | rhalstead | 27/05/2019 |
From the parking area at Deadman Gill Bridge. Some potentially very boggy ground all rendered quite firm by recent low temperatures. Picked up (not literally) the trig curry stool en-route to the top. | jonglew | 16/12/2018 |
Good parking a few metres north of cattle grid. Aiming S of summit avoids most boggy ground. | Galltywenallt | 06/12/2018 |
From Deadmans gill Bridge - In search of a Curry Stool (which we found). The emptiness captivated us so we bagged hill summit also. Wild and Windy. | briandavies | 10/11/2018 |
With Jo, from county boundary parking area alongside fence to fallen Boundary Stone No 36, then onto Iron Band. Continued forward to the Curry Stool and returned directly over Shot Moss. Weather; sunny, windy, good visibility. | amblerbob | 27/05/2018 |
ACW circuit starting from Dead Man Gill Bridge. Re-crossed road at 'usual' start point for Mickle Fell, and traversed the four of the little tops of Ley Seat - should this hill be classified as something?- higest top looks to be at NY82436 20119 (586m?). Some good views - nice little circuit (5+km,230m). | ger | 05/04/2018 |
Exactly as dgresty 03/04/17 | Crib Goch | 20/08/2017 |

Parked at cattle grid to the NW, and followed boundary fence, then veered of to top with 500m to go. Very unispiring. | DARRENG | 14/10/2015 |

Bagging the curry stool and the summit from the B road. | Dugswell2 | 29/11/2014 |
From high point on road, not at cattle grid, further on to Cumbria side, parking for one-two vehicles at roadside. No paths, just a damp trudge over moorland. Top area is interesting feature, but summit point a grassy lump. Mist swirling added to interest, but only just! | nordicstar | 08/01/2014 |
From W by sharp bend and tourist info. Rough grass and flat summit area. Unexciting hill. Revisit 02/11/17 to find OS trig, a rare Curry Stool. Exciting hill after all! | Aye Jimmy | 31/05/2013 |
Easy parking to NNW. No paths. Took the straight line back. Tussocky grass for a lot of the route but OK. | destaylor | 06/05/2013 |

From Deadman Gill Bridge. Quite an easy pathless ascent after recent dry spell. | David Gradwell | 02/06/2012 |
Easy parking at county boundary. After heavy rain this was an energy sapping plod (especially after conquering Long Crag in the morning). I also took in Dow Crag in case anyone includes this when I am beyond redemption .... walking wise! | moorsman | 16/05/2012 |
Circular from Brough via Windmore End with return via Musgrave Fell track - noisy training session over the hill. Soggy afternoon but rough ground was easy going. | Smudge | 29/10/2011 |
