From just above Carlingill bridge on a round of Linghaw, Fell Head, Simon’s Seat, Docker Knott, Hand Lake and Uldale Head with M and V. Great views on a clear day.PeterD24/03/2024

From Tebay in thick morning mist with a promise of sunshine, up the road to Tebaygill then a handy ATV track all the way to Blease Fell. Continued on an ATV to Uldale Head, still in mist. We thought about calling it a day, but the sun was threatening to finally show its face so we went over to Docker Knott and Hand Lake. As we descended northwards the cloud cleared and the sun shined bright over the Howgill horizon. We picked up the track to Long Gills and then the minor road back to Tebay. 3.5hrs round.summitter03/09/2023

A perfect day for walking on the velvet turf of the Howgills, although distant views compromised somewhat by the poor air quality. 20km with 1050m ascent in 7hours.silverwolf_alan24/03/2022

9.2 mile circular from near Fairmile Gate, walked north along road and followed trail near Carlingill Beck, forded a few streams then climbed steeply up Uldale Heads slopes using a mixture of sheep trails and ancient tracks to col, headed west to bag Blease Fell and unlisted Hare Shaw (23m Prominence) with its cairn, then descended back to col and climbed up onto Uldale Head, descended very steeply to Blakethwaite Bottom, up onto Hand Lake and then Docker Knott, then an easy ascent onto Fell Head (2nd time bagged), descended via Whins End, forded stream then back across to car park. Very hot and sunny exhausting day, we shortened the walk for this reason. Easy Howgill terrain underfoot throughout mainly on ATV trails.DanTrig05/08/2018

Visited on drive between stays at Keswick and Staveley. Pete and I climbed this from Carlingill Bridge, as shown in chp 12 of AW's Howgill Fells; we returned by almost the same way, using pleasantly grassy zigzags above cut grooves. The gill was fairly high and we didn't have time to do a walk above the gills to Linghaw- a pity, both look like good walks.pwheeler03/10/2017

Parked at cattle grid at Fairmile Gate but there's what appears to be a purpose made parking area a little further north. Linghaw, Fell Head, Simon's Seat, Docker Knott, Hand Lake, Uldale Head, Blease Fell. A lot of up and down and not really a logical walk, but bagged 6 new tops and revisited a mountain so satisfying from a box ticking perspective.ijpowell21/08/2015
From Gaisgill up Uldale Head then over to Simon's Seat before Fell Head and The Calf. Return via Hazelgill Knott and West Fell with Langdale Knott as an encore. Very pleasant day apart from some drizzle in the last hour. Surprisingly busy hills and not just The Calf.SS25/07/2015

Quite a stiff climb from Carlingill, made more acute by the summit always being the next lump on the horizon! If going on to and returning from Docker Knott or Hand Lake, the return trip down the valley is quite a challenge .moorsman08/03/2013

Easy parking south of hairpin bend at Gibbet Hill. Trickiest bit is deciding how to cross the beck. If take the track immediately behind the car park then the beck may be too deep. If descend to the bridge at the hairpin north side has barbed wire gate then lots of cattle mud. South side very tricky to cross beck. If lots of rain must be the north side and suffer.destaylor18/10/2012
