Repeat of previous ascent but this time included middle top. trig and stone! Two JCB and three earthmovers were extending the track up to close to the old summit - be able to cycle it next year.SS24/04/2016
Parked at gate where the track starts to the s on the A66. Follwed this till in line with hill and headed straight for top. Did the other two tops in case the tamperers 1.5cm is wrong.(lol)DARRENG14/10/2015
Along the estate track from A66 for c500m, to level with sheepfold, then direct line to the summit. Would be unpleasant after a lot of rain, but pretty much dry today. Probably the best of my five tops today.Crib Goch03/10/2015
A walk taking in Mouldy Mea, High Greygrits and Great Knipe. Hard moorland walking with one or two short steep bits. Parked at NY 87423 12792. Crossed the stream by a bridge and followed the old railway to a hut. Up onto moor to Moudy Mea from here. Next stop High Greygrits and trig. Near the trig picked up a track and followed to just past a ford, then turned left onto moor to Roman signal station. Next was A66, really exciting to get across and wall at the other side was quite smooth. Back to moorland to Great Knipe. Down to road and back to car. Lots of barbed wire around.MikeM06/09/2015
Parked on minor road verge south of A66 at the Kaber turnoff, crossed the A66 and followed the track opposite to the ridge and a shooting hut, thereafter following a rough track left to the summit. Gate at start unlocked but subsequently locked on our return by the farmer who ignored a small trespass by us at the start!Fisky Boy02/05/2015

Teach me to check the updates! Up and down the track to the old top from the main road in hill fog. Sadly on entering log, discovered the summit moved to near the trig point in 2012 so I'll need to return and get a view.SS15/11/2014
Parking on the verge at the junction with the A66 and the Barras and South Stainmore road (altitude 1223ft). The area immediately over the A66 is not open access but the gamekeeper was there preparing for a shoot the following day. Let me through and even left the gates unlocked asking me to put the locks on when I returned! He told me to follow the main shooting track to three shooting houses (hidden in a dip so not obvious until you are almost at them). Then, turn left and follow the wall to the summit. Slightly longer, but dry and returned with dry socks! 90 minutes return.moorsman15/10/2014
Parked at Slapestones, deserted farm S side of A66. Easy jog across damp fields and up SSW slopes to top. Few walls that can be crossed easily. Good trig. Back same way in 25 mins total.nordicstar04/12/2013
Parked on grass verge at bend in minor road at NY 86947 13138 (380m). Walked back to cross the busy and fast A66. Climbed two gates then track to NY 87265 13802 where we crossed Yard Sike to reach interesting sheepfold. From this point it is a pathless DIY job to summit.David Gradwell29/07/2013
Parked on S side of A66 at 873.128. Bit further from here but you start through an underpass that's also a bridleway! Diagonal approach to hill, boggy in parts, passing a most unusual stone sheepfold. Nice summit with trig. Went to other high point too, just in case...Aye Jimmy31/05/2013
Parked easily at junction 867 133 south side. Didn't find good route.destaylor04/05/2013
start ~ 867132. Easy climb through bog land, thankfully well frozen. Summits by the wall, east of trig point.steve hudson26/02/2013

From Leeds 9 x individual quiet, empty, lonely 500m Dewey's around Great Shunner. Some brilliant, some terrible heather, some boggy flatness -all fun. Ending the day at Ellerstring YH to meet Lesley.Chris Pearson17/04/1999
