From Kirkby Fell. Followed various quad bike trails to high wall impeding progress. A bit tumbledown in places so squeezed through gap under wire. Descended to gate over stream that lifts up so you can get through at 865637. KeithByTheC01/01/2024

Solo, from Greenfoot P & D car park in Settle (£2.30). Grizedales, Kirkby Fell and Rye Loaf Hill. Accessed Kirkby Fell via a wall stile at SD 87448 63877. Used a metal gate at SD 86809 63852 to access Rye Loaf Hill. Some of the grid refs quoted below were gaps in dry stone walls, which have been repaired.ADT13/05/2023

On day from Settle with C across from Grizedales following west side of wall. Then up to Trig.PeterD09/07/2022
Settle, over High Hill and up to Kirkby Fell then west ti old quarry and south along wall to good crossing point near Wall junction SD86656325. The wall north of here has been repaired, so you would have to go back out onto the bridleway and back in the other side to get to Ryeloaf. Returned down wallside to gate at SD86856385. Then on to Hunter Bark.Flatfield12/05/2022
Ascended after Grizedales from Langscar Gate. There is a convenient gate by the wall which begins the ascent. Returned the same way as there is no other gate in the wall. A prominent hill with good views.JohnW27/04/2022
Quite a prominent hill and a good viewpoint. It is just south of the Craven Fault so is boggy and tussocky underfoot, Grizedales just to the north across the Fault is so differentDavid Bell20/04/2022

Lovely round of Kirkby Fell, Rye Loaf Hill, Back Scar and Grizedales using the Pennine Bridleway from the ENE. Parking for two cars.clivevilla09/06/2020
From the Parking area used for Malham tarn which has an honesty box, just under Severn miles in Two and three quarter hours. Using the Pennine way and then first up to Grizedales and then onto Kirkby fell and Rye loaf hill. To get to the last two hills there were walls in the way so had to look for holes to gain access.WAYNE ROWLETT24/05/2020

2nd hill of 6 on a route from Settle to Malham, having climbed High Hill i descended to pick up the Pennine Bridleway at Stockdale Lane, veering off to climb over Low Halsteads to pass a cave near Low South Bank (with the rotting carcasses of 2 sheep guarding the entrance). I climbed over the wall at the intersection then continued direct to the Trig point and summit. Great views but weather closing in and starting to rain. Continuing to Grizedale....Dazingdale24/03/2018

High Hill -> Warrendale Knotts -> Grizedales -> Kirkby Fell -> Rye Loaf Hill, parking at roadside 837629. Cold and foggy, but at least the bogs were partly frozen over at the top! Planned to park up by Stockdale farm as others and do it as 2 shorter walks - note that there are private road/no vehicles signs at the start of Stockdale Lane. It's a very good parking spot up there for anyone braver than me though :)the_adam21/01/2017
From Kirkby Fell. When descending to Stockdale Lane head NW to a gate to avoid the wall climb. With GB.bolton18/01/2017
Parked in old quarry on Stockdale Lane at 852638 (Space for 2 cars) - After ascent of Grizedales & Kirkby Fell, headed W. & crossed the partially collapsed wall before making way up to trig pillar. You can then head back to wall & drop down on W. side to a farm gate in corner at 868638. (PM)gerrybowes18/01/2017
With Fiona. From Kirkby Fell and tough going including wall crossing. There is a path on the west side of the wall which leads almost from the summit to the Dales Way!!! Enjoyable hill.trimarc229/11/2016
Once DTL and I had gotten over the electric fence and wall we needed to scale the top of this one was great with trig point at summit and great 360 degree views. Way back to BW was clear path unlike ascent from Kirby Fell. Beautiful weather. On day trip from London using trains.Fionalevey29/11/2016
