Solitary circular walk from just below Mam Tor (parked on road down into valley... not to be advised but all car parks in about 100 miles were full on a Friday afternoon... furlough is an interesting concept, I guess). Almost made it to Win Hill but lost my nerve and cut the corner. What more need be said about the Great Ridge?hjb6817/07/2020

Then onwards to very fine summit tor - a few easy scrambling moves needed to gain the trig on the summit. Descended south on flagstone ridge path, then eroded path north-west, eventually descending steeply back to reservoir track. Solo Nordic hill walk.Man of Kernow117/03/2015

First hill achieved on the Classic Derwent edge circular from Fairholmes with Sheeba. A gorgeous day of hazy sunshine although quite windy on the plateaux. Strange to see a Trig point on the actual Rocky tor itself. Carried on to the bridge and back up the other side visiting Crook hill and Bridge end pasture before dropping down back to Fairholmes. HPM again. Grim. Dense wet mist all night and sinking through a soft icy crust into ankle deep bog all the time. heavy slow going - 14 hrs for the 40 miles. A shock for James who had kindly stepped in to replace John at last minute, without realising fully what to expect.Chris Pearson05/03/1993

On 'Eastern Edges' walk from Flouch Inn to Baslow, with SJB and JEL. The toughest part of this walk was from the top of Cut Gate, over wet peat moors, to the col below Back Tor. After Howden Edge, Featherbed Moss lived up to its name but we avoided the worst of it by walking in the bed of the infant Abbey Brook. The going improved a lot as we approached Back Tor- I mention a bit of scrambling in my log- presumably we went over Howshaw Tor. Lunch stop on Back Tor.pwheeler14/06/1986
