Parked at Barber Booth - still spaces at 9.30! Up PW to Kinder Low trig, then across to Kinder Scout, which was surprisingly dry underfoot. Then down to Noe Stool and the stone path to Brown Knoll, Rushup Edge, Mam Tor, Barker Bank and Lose Hill and back via Hollins Cross. Lovely day and weather. Solo. Good to see the large number of kids out on DofE expeditions - prime time, prime location, post exams.richard6913/07/2023

We parked just off the road close to the National Trust car park. Steepish climb up to Mam Tor with Amelia. It was cloudy and quite windy on the summit with lots of people about. From the summit we walked down to Hollins Cross and then up to the summit of Barker Bank. Retraced steps to Hollins Cross then headed down to Mam Farm. On the way down we got close to a Kestrel sitting on the path. From the farm we followed the abandoned road to Blue John Cavern and the road back to the car. Time taken 1 hour 45 minutes for 3.2 miles.isabelle05/08/2021

Starting at Losehill Hall YHA. Main road into Castleton then up the Dirty Lane footpath. The most direct route from Dunscar Farm up to Hollins Cross then along the ridge to the summit. A relatively steep descent to the turning/parking area above Odin Mine, then down further to the crushing wheel. Following the footpath down alongside Odin Sitch back into Castleton and then retracing steps to the YHA.OM1224/07/2020
Solitary circular walk from just below Mam Tor (parked on road down into valley... not to be advised but all car parks in about 100 miles were full on a Friday afternoon... furlough is an interesting concept, I guess). Accessed from National trust Car park (Mam Nick)following footpath to the road and over onto flagged path all the way to the summit Trig point. I went on to climb Losehill and then drop into Edale via the Blacktor bridge footpath to access the Kinder plateaux via Ringing Roger and the Nab and then followed the edge past Hartshorn and around Grindslow Knoll, Crowden Tower, through the Woolpacks, Noe Stool and onto the Pennine way and it branches off to head down Jacobs ladder i continued following a dry stone wall before branching off in a south easterly direction to the trig point at Brown knoll . I then continued on this track to reach the Chapel gate track that then subsequently leads to the Great ridge and Lord's seat. The ridge was followed until meeting the track that then leads back to the car park. 17.2 wonderful miles of beautiful views!!Dazingdale05/10/2013

We then made it to Kinder scout itself and on to Kinder low before continuing the route to Brown Knoll past Lord seat to Mam Tor on to Hollins Cross , Black tor and finally reaching Lose hill. A walk from Hope station taking footpaths alongside Peakshole water to Castleton, up Cavedale, joining the limestone way for a small portion before heaidng across to Windy knoll, across the roads to the path taking me up to Mam tor. I forgot my camera on this trip. I was gutted as the clouds were making beautiful shadows run across the open face of the Quaking mountain! I continued to Hollins cross and went back down to Castleton via Hollowford lane. After another cappuccino and cake I took paths that led me to the summit of Winhill pike. I took paths back to hope station. A glorious day and my first ascent of both Mam tor and Winhill pike (a much harder slog even though its not as high). My gps log was pretty accurate, showing the altitude as 518m for Mam tor and 463m for Winhill pike. Its usually a few metres out!Dazingdale23/07/2011
