Parked in the area on Wessenden road near the junction for A635 not shown on my map. Walked up road to wooden notice board where the permissive path leads all the way to the summit, there was a snack wagon parked on the A635 near the junction if you need a cuppa (don't know if its only there in the morning!)WAYNE ROWLETT17/02/2019

Tricky roadside parking due E of hill. Direct route up, permissive path not found although quad tracks found higher up. Nice rocky top with a trig pillar and rivet benchmark on a nearby rock.jonglew27/12/2017
Parking difficult. Pleasant hill with millstone grit summit. Good views despite the dull morning. Cold biting wind a sign of things to come.Campbell Singer05/12/2017
As part of circular walk from Meltham also taking in Shooters Nab. Straightforward ascent from the parking area, bit wet in parts but can be avoided. Stunning views - cant think of a better spot in West Yorkshire? Descended via Raven Stones to Wessenden Valley also well worth a visit. Weather overcast but very mild for October despite strong wind.AJL198014/10/2017
Access point on road to the SE not shown on OS Explorer Maps leads straight to summit, which is 10m W of trig point.IanHHill07/09/2017
K A simple ascent to a worthy hill top with a fun playground of gritstone outcrops topped by a trig point. Roadside parking (watch for some lage holes) and a clear path which is easy and bouncy when conditions are dry, though squelchy if the peat is sodden. Good views.crazy18/06/2017

Took concessionary path to the summit and then climbed on all potential rocks including a quite tricky one about 20 metres away I re-traced steps to road and then headed Nw on a fp towards Meltham.Dazingdale06/11/2016

Climbed from Milestone Hill late in the day as light dropped. Great views. Failed to locate cache.meltdiceburg15/03/2013
These were certainly the worst conditions that I had ever encountered let alone walked in. Parked at the start of the concessionary path where the wind was so strong it was physically impossible to open either of the rear doors or the boot lid. Torrential rain driven by severe wind (Woodhead Pass had been closed due to them). Had to wait a couple of minutes before it was possible to navigate the stile. Crawled up clasping onto rocks. Impossible to stand alongside the trig point so took shelter behind the rocks. Coming down was worse. Had to use both poles to prevent myself being blown over. On returning the car had been blown about 2m forward but, as I left the wheels turning inwards, it had stopped against a rock (and yes, the brakes were on. Took one hour due to the conditions.moorsman28/01/2013
Space for a car to the SE on the road in a sort of layby. No path until half way. Interesting how the cairn shape and size changes.destaylor14/12/2012

Made a nice evenings circular out of this summit. It was dark so couldnt see a lot, but still the moonlight did enough for us to know this is an area to be revisited.Flipperfeet17/03/2011
Head torches were not needed for the whole walk, the moonlight was good enough to see.simocity17/03/2011
Used small parking space to east on frosty misty morning after TB testing some Longhorn cattle near Saddleworth Moor. Rocking Stone on pile of rocks is highest point at 500m will the Tamperer demote it soon?Dugswell203/03/2011
After spending the best part of the day walking up to Black Hill, via Black Chew Head, I decides to take a quick detour on my way home to bag this one. I parked up in a layby no more than 500meters from the summit and ran up and down in about 20minutes. ICap_Thunderbolt14/11/2010
