Road on west side of Thirlmere is closed so parked at car park near southern end, up the road then up the bridleway and di a circuit of Watendlath Fell, Shivery Knott, Middle Crag, Armboth Fell x 2 and Fisher Crag. | clivevilla | 08/10/2023 |
A circular route over boggy ground starting at Rosthwaite. Along the valley track past the Stonethwaite, up Greenup Gill, before branching off to the right for Eagle Crag. Then along the ridge to Sergeant's Crag and up the small track to the right of Long Crag, then traversing above it to Greenup Edge. North along the Central Fells ridge over Ullscarf, and down by Standing Crag. Then across very boggy ground (wet feet) parallel to the fence over Watendlath Fell to Shivery Knott. Then a beeline for Armboth Fell, visiting both the Wainwright and Birkett tops. Then up another marshy track over High Tove, and back to Rosthwaite via Watendlath. 22km with 1000m ascent in 7h 40m. | silverwolf_alan | 26/08/2023 |
An excellent day to pick up 5 Birketts and a Fellranger from Armboth car park. Up the good path to High Tove, then very easy (though wet) along the fence to Middle Crag, Shivery Knott and Watendlath Fell. Armboth Fell easy to locate, also Fisher Crag with access over forest fence. Easy descent by forest track. | BURGESS | 09/07/2023 |
From steel end car park on a cloudless day | holtsd | 22/06/2023 |
13 Birkets after 4 weeks no rain - bone dry apart from (thankfully) a few springs. Road all closed off, so a bit of a trudge along the road after Fisher Crag back to start at Steel End carpark. Hd hoped to drop off bike at descent point to road. | Dave Sargent | 13/06/2023 |

Along the east fence path from Bell Crags. Continued to Middle Crag then Armboth Fell. Dry conditions, nothing more than small wet patches that could usually be jumped. | Nick Caunt | 19/04/2021 |

Set off from Armboth car park, High Tove, Middle Crag, Shivery Knott, Armboth (Wainwright top) Armboth (Birkett) and Fisher Crag. Reasonable day out, not as wet as expected, took wellies but they never left the rucksack, good views all round, 17 Wainwrights to go. | Mark T | 19/07/2020 |
