First day of last go at the Birketts. Light showers. Found a way up and down Castle Rock through head-high bracken. Then a pleasant walk up Castle Crag and The Benn. Joyce took the low road back to Castlerigg campsite while I walked back over 3 boggy and pathless Synges: Bleaberry Fell SE Top, Dodd Crag and Pike. Good views.BURGESS02/07/2023

missed path on way up so scrambled up west side. Obvious path for descent. The path starts on LH side of deer fence by the wooden high gate. It isn't easy to spot but is worth lloking for as it is a good way of getting to toptrimarc212/05/2021
Cycled up to the bottom of the Raven Crag steps and walked from there.tomd426/01/2021
At least the path was obvious going back down !. Not easy to spot in dark on way upconanharrod06/11/2020
As Dangerous Dave says. Do not cross the wooden hurdle as you will then have to climb the fence to get back out. Stay on the left side of the deer-fence until you can turn left and go to the top. The top is a delightful place above the dark trees.Alan Moore14/10/2020
There's a new deer fence across the usual track heading into the woods. Just followed it on the left side for a bit then picked up the faint track to this pleasant summit. With Alfie.Dangerous Dave12/08/2020

Raven Crag, Castle Crag, The Benn, Low Rigg, High Rigg (all 3) Wren Crag, Great How. From Castle Crag/Raven Crag, leave forest track as it bends west downhill and follow informal path along top of ridge t a short boulder an heather climb. Leaving to head north there is an informal path along the top of the ridge which meets a forest track not shown on older OS maps near a waymark post with two red arrows. Descends west to meet the lower track shown on older maps where it zig-zags sharply. As far as I can tell the descent to the east then bends south to meet what is shown as a dead end track on older OS maps.ijpowell26/03/2015
