Naddle Horseshoe from parking on Concrete road. Great little walk, apart from the descent from point 395 which was head ferns for what seemed miles but was probably a couple of hundred yards. Just under 3 hours. | Longwojo | 07/07/2023 |
From Naddle Farm road end.
13 km, 450 m asc.
E Along the Frith Wood Concrete Road and SW on the Rosgill Moor track to the summits of Scalebarrow Knott and the two tops on Harper Hills, continuing to Powley's Hill and Hare Shaw summits. NNW down to the RSPB walk path and up to Naddle High Forest, Wallow Crag, Hugh's Laithe Pike, Low Forest and the nameless cairn (Naddle Farm End). S to join the track to Naddle Farm.
Good tracks in the beginning and end. Rough, boggy, pathless sections from Harper Hills to the Naddle Farm track.
Sunny.

Up grassy slopes from Harper Hills. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 24/12/2021 |
From Haweswater corpse road, this route also takes in Nabs Crag, Howes, Selside Pike and Brown Howe, a fairly hard day off paths most of the way, tussocks, pathless wet and boggy but some great views, great weather. 5hrs 10 minutes with a lot of stops. | smocks and denims | 22/11/2021 |
AW's Naddle horseshoe, clockwise to go with the lay of the bracken (mostly), from parking at NY528156. Not popular, not surprising given the ankle wrecking terrain when not on one of the intermittent paths, which themselves were often obscured by deep grass. Faint FP descent from final pt 395 vanishes in a swamp infested with big tussocks, I missed the correct exit and ended up in grade 5+ veg [FIGHT] down to track Y-junction. Back along UU's private road - the dire warnings of this road's propensity to be a car-killer were ignored by several - but I saw no sick, injured or deceased cars en route. | Isbjorn | 10/10/2021 |
The Naddle Horseshoe from the concrete parking area where the Swindale Road crosses a private road. Scalebarrow Knott, Harper Hills, Powley's Hill, Hare Shaw, High Forest (Kit Crag), Wallow Crag, Low Forest (a heathery beast!), Hugh's Laithes Pike and a nameless Summit (Synge's Naddle Farm Top). Pleasant, spacious walking. | Nick Down1 | 02/07/2021 |

Parked on hard standing concrete NY52800 15700. Swindale foot Crag -> Harper Hills -> Powleys Hill -> Hare Shaw -> Brown Howe (Mardale) -> Naddle High Forest (nameless (Naddle Horseshoe -1)) -> Wallow Crag (nameless (Naddle Horseshoe -2)) -> Naddle Low Forest -> Hugh's laithes pike -> Nameless (Naddle Horseshoe -3) -> Scalebarrow Knott. Good weather, but used GPS for a few bags because most looked like a lump of mounds! Those private roads were interesting, must drive them some time ;-) | Jhimmy | 19/11/2017 |

WOs 79-85; Bs 66-72. Found we could have an extra week in the Lakes so decided to bag all the Shap fells and so do all the Outliers in one go. Started with basically a reverse of W's Naddle Forest horseshoe. From end of path above the farm through thick bracken, reeds and bog to the first nameless top, then more bracken but picked up an intermittent path over Hugh Laithes Pike, Wallow Crag and Naddle High Forest, adding Naddle Low Forest. Joyce returned down the valley. Then a horrid rough ascent to Hare Shaw and rough ground over Powley's Hill to the very boggy track. Harper Hills and Scalebarrow Knott made an easier finish and Joyce picked me up at the waterworks road. Good, clear weather but hard work. | BURGESS | 08/08/2017 |

Roadside parking on the road north of Naddle Farm then a brisk walk THROUGH the farm (ignoring the bridleway marker as you enter the farmyard), turning left after 100 yards along a good path to the summit ridge. Thence an easy, painless walk to the summit. | moorsman | 19/06/2014 |
