As others, Ascent from Whicham Church direct to summit, easy to follow. Very Windy on the summit and claggy. Descent by same routematty1971b28/03/2024

Parked in the layby on the A595 immediately before the turning to Whicham church, although plenty of space in the community car park by the church (voluntary donation). Followed the winding track up to Black Combe and it's S Top. Hazy views but I imagine the view down the coast line from the large cairn on the S Top would be impressive. Cloudy and breezy walk. From Whitbeck parking (SD119839), N along PFPs on E side of intake walls (no waymarkers of any kind) to Holegill, then up RoW NE, then SE, to top. Down S ridge to Seaness, then NW down non-RoW towards Whitbeck - no exit to farm, but a faint FP cuts around E side of copse to emerge at PFP sign 300m SE of phone box.Isbjorn21/01/2023

5th and final hill of 5 today with my daughter Katherine, on a route from Green Road station to Silecroft via Knott Hill (out and back solo from track to Swinside stone circle) lunch at Swinside stone circle, Raven Crag, Stoupdale Head and Black combe arriving in a Glyderesque landscape of small spiky rocks competing for the summit. I spent 5 mimutes circling and climbing onto them. Did not visit the Beehive Cairn as man-made and lower by sight anyway. Descent 100m until track reached and then followed track and fp's to Silecroft, after 1 minute the train arrived to take us back to Barrow. A great day out in the hills!Dazingdale01/04/2017
