32km circuit from Glen Doll. 11/15.PGCE24/02/2024
While staying in Kirriemuir with Nikko Lim, we parked at Glen Doll ranger car park The route up Glen Clova was interesting (my first time, up that way). We bagged Broad Cairn (998m), my 200th Munro and Creag an Dubh-loch (983m), Nikko's 1st Munro Top. The views into Glen Muick and over Dubh Loch were something else. Long day though 9:16hrs all in.chillyman818/02/2024

With Eve. Fifth and final summit of the day. Peak is surrounded by granite boulders, but has a mostly obvious path leading up and down. Good views South and East, especially towards Loch Muick and our walk-out, even though the opposite end of the loch looked rather distant... Route down was straightforward, especially after the boulderfield down from the summit, and took the very bonnie walkers path that descends gradually down toward Loch Muick as it looked more appealling than the track. A very scenic slog for a walk out.RufusHodge26/05/2023

Large carpark at Loch Muich (£5). With Richard, Gillian and Richard Walker and Tony Gordon. Lovely sunny clear day. After Carn Bannoch and various Tops. Track all the way down.Denise 18/04/2023
Parked at the Spittal of Glenmuick (£5 cash/card in machine). Took the track on the N side of loch and up to above the Falls of the Glasallt from where a stalkers path goes up the SE ridge to Creag a Ghlas-uillt. From there the walk around the top of Allt an Dubh-loch valley opens up - Eagles Rock, Carn a'Choire Bhoidheach, Carn an t-Sagairt Beag, Carn an t-Sagairt Mor, Fafernie, Cairn Bannoch, Cairn of Gowal, Creag an Dubh-loch, Broad Cairn - and follows the track back down on the S side of Loch Muick. Long day with a cold wind but wonderful views. With Gillian, Tony, Richard and Denise, although R&D split off at times with different peak objectives, meeting up again finally below Broad Cairn.richard6918/04/2023

With friend. From Spittal of Glenmuick on bikes to Glas-allt-Shiel. Objective: all Munro tops of Broad Cairn and Cairn Bannoch. No stalking today. Up the stalkers' path to Corrie Chash. We had lunch at bothy. We continued up the track which becomes more of a path towards Broad Cairn and reached the summit of Broad Cairn. We aimed for the col between Cairn of Gowal and Craig of Gowal. There was something of a ramp leading up to the col. We reached the summit of Craig of Gowal. The highest point (927m) is at the NW end of the summit ridge, which is broad with a slight rise on it. We saw that there was a cairn at the other end of the ridge so we walked to it in case it was higher, but that did not seem to be the case. I also went to another point near the cairn as this might have been higher. We wanted to be sure that we did indeed reach the summits of the various tops. Continued to Crow Craigies, Fafernie, Cairn Bannoch, Cairn of Gowal, Creag an Dubh-loch.pwbellarby06/09/2013

Alone. From Spittal of Glenmuick I walked via Glas-allt-Shiel and then up the ESE ridge of Creag a' Ghlas-uillt (using a path which is a continuation of one skirting under Little Pap) to this summit. I went on to Top of Eagle's Rock, Carn a' Choire Bhoidheach, Carn an t- Sagairt Beag, Carn an t-Sagairt Mòr, Cairn Bannoch, Cairn of Gowal, Broad Cairn followed by descent to Dubh Loch and Spittal of Glen Muick. It was clear with no rain. There were good views of Creag an Dubh-loch, Loch Kander and long distance. Many dear and ptarmigan were seen.pwbellarby31/07/1983
Cairngorm Club meet. With Geraldine Guest, Robin Howie. We left Spittal of Glenmuick and walked via the track to the south of Loch Muick to Broad Cairn. We went on to Creag an Dubh-loch and continued to Cairn of Gowal, Carn Bannoch, Craig of Gowal and down to the quarry near Braedownie in Glen Clova. Mist was continuous from the start to coming off Craig of Gowal when it gradually lifted. There was soft snow on the ground, but not deep, from the start to Bachnagairn. There was falling snow while on the tops.pwbellarby24/04/1983

Cairngorm Club meet with Jonathan Bellarby, David Moseley. From Auchallater. After ascending Carn an t-Sagairt Mór, Fafernie, Cairn Bannoch, Cairn of Gowal, Craig of Gowal and Creag an Dubh-loch. We went on to reach Broad Cairn and went down shoulder towards Corrie Chash so avoiding deviation on track. Went down the path to the SW end of Loch Muick and walked round the Glas-allt-Shiel side of Loch Muick to Spittal of Glenmuick. It was bright with clear weather all day. There was some mist seen on Carn an Tuirc etc but it did not reach us. There were snow patches and it was icy on the ground.pwbellarby25/10/1981
