Beinn a' Choin, near Inversnaid - Walkhighlands routehummusg10/01/2024
Parked in the entrance to Corriearklet and got onto the Great Trossachs Path north of it by going up the access track and through some overgrown vegetation besides the main house. Next, a wet tramp through long grass, using an ATV track initially, to Garradh and on to the two tops of Maol Mor. Thankfully, the ground got easier as I rose, but the ever-present mist failed to lift - swings and roundabouts! Along the rugged ridge over Stob a' Choin Dhuibh and Maol Breac a' Bhealaich before a final pull to Beinn a' Choin. Returned S via Stob an Fhainne, following an old fence line for most of the way to its summit and on down to the road besides the Loch Arklet dam. Would have been lovely in clearer, drier or icier conditions.summitter12/10/2023
Solo from RSPB car park. Heavy rain all day and very poor visibility above 500m. Good track north for about 2km then NE up steep slopes. Dreadful deep vegetation, bracken, lumpy thick heather to deer fence and gate. A little better going after that to Bealach a' Mheim. WalkingHighlands describes Beinn a' Choin as a neglected hill, think I can see why on a day like this !John Lee14/07/2023
Through the cloud sea to distant views of Lomond and Vorlich. Then across to Meall Mor. That was hard work.davechaffey28/11/2022
From the RSPB car park. Along the grassy track as far as the Allt Trosdain. Up the right hand side, leading to a gate in the deer fence. Crossed the Allt Trosdain quite high up after overnight rain, somewhat easier going after that. Descended on a more easterly line by the fence posts to the col, then descended gradually, scaling the deer fence at 350m asl, but this led to dreadful vegetation, bracken, lumpy thick heather, young trees and an awkward burn crossing. Eventually rejoined the track south of the sheepfold.Owen B22/09/2022
Parked large layby (no passing place sign) NN 3803 0939. Thru' gate NN 3817 0941 to nothing but rough, deep, exhausting vegetation. Improved a little over 500m but the whole Maol Mor ridge rough. On to Beinn a'Choin (BC) and two Sims to NW. Back ober BC and down Stob an Fhainne ridge. Path briefly but did not continue down fence line, so descended over Maol Odhar (SE direction) to Glen Arkle, thru' increasingly difficult vegetation.carole engel07/09/2022
From RSPB car park. It's a long drive on single track roads to bag a single mountain. Walked up the tracks and I thought I had found a path, but it was only deer tracks - doh. Tough going up boggy, fern and long grass. Not many paths. good views.Jhimmy27/08/2022

With Sue from RSPB car park, along ATV track to sheepfold and gate in deer fence and then up directly to summit. Return same. Damp and muggy.Frank17/05/2022
A lovely spring day. Easy ascent in dry conditions. with Janice. 600thPlay2End22/04/2022
From RSPB car park. Saw no-one all day. Bright, clear, sun sometimes, with v light cool breeze stopping it getting too muggy. A rough and boggy ascent, easing further up. Nice summit with great views.niallp17/05/2021
Car park at Garrison Farm coned off due to 'Landslip', so parked at the dam. To Beinn a'Choin via Garrison Farm (no sign of landslip) returning via Stob an Fhainne and straight down beside the fence back to the dam. Very wet underfoot, as expected due to recent weather, and no real paths after leaving the Garrison Farm track.TRG31828/02/2021
A shorter hill day with John and wee Islay (the springer) - clockwise loop - tough terrain for a lot of it and the hill is like a big sponge. Great views though - see over Loch Katrine, LOch Lomond towards the Arrochar Alps, and at the summit, over to the back of the Crianlarich hills.mproudfoot23/08/2020
Room for a car in the wide entrance to Corriearklet Farm. ACW round of Corriearklet, ascending - through fairly long vegetation, initially - to Garadh and descending over Maol Odhar. Spent a while finding the highest top of Maol Mor, then over the impressive tooth of Stob a'Choin Dhubh, Meal Breac a'Bhealaich, Beinn a'Choin, steeply down to the peat hags of the bealach and the post and rock summit of Stob an Fhainne.Nick Down125/05/2020
Wet wet wet! Up RSPB reserve path to sheep fold. Through this and short difficult bushwack to fond ATV 4x4 track which goes most of the way. Short dither around at the top over rough ground and to top. Descent the same way cos it was wet.TamCollie22/11/2019

Parked at Stronlachlar. Followed old military road to Corriearklet; completed horseshoe over Maol Mor, Beinn a'Choin, Stob an Fhainne; then returned along track to Stronlachlar.PaulineD18/04/2017
From Garrison farm, through the RSPB reserve and up the stream by the sheepfold. Purgatorial going through regenerating woodland - sickly saplings planted in deep hidden holes full of water amongst monstrous triffid-style vegetation. After a character forming slog, I found an ATV track, which was slightly less purgatorial. Better going above the deer fence, and the track goes almost to the top. Followed the track all the way back down, but gruesome going lower down (rushes, holes, tussocks, bracken). This route would be a lot better in winter when the vegetables have died back; or, better still, choose a different route from the many superior offerings described by others!Gill26/09/2016
From An Casteil down to bealach up steeply past some steep rocks. 2 cairns. Unsure which was summit. Descent down rudge and log boggy walk back. Great. Clear wuth giid views.Langbank 25/06/2016

From Ardlui ferry straight up the very steep side of the ridge to north of Stob nan Eigrach then south along ridge over Bein a Choin and three of the four Graham tops. Slow going in places on wet thawing snow so had to miss last of the tops, Stob an Fhainne to be sure of getting last ferry which I made with just 15 minutes to spare. Steep descent from ridge south of Bein a Choin to Loch Lomand very tricky in wet, thawing snow and navigating rocky outcrops, not recommended in these conditions, I think a line further south would have been betterdickscroop30/04/2016

RBS HWC Sunday outing. I walked with Lynn Y, Alan T and dog Meg. Start at Corriearklet farm on the unclassified road which runs along the N of Loch Arklet. Pass the farm and ascend NE up the steep ridge of Maol Mor. At 550m the angle eases as you turn NNW along the ridge to the summit trig point. Descend NW down the hummocky ridge to the Bealach a’ Mheim at 560m then ascend the SE ridge of Beinn a’ Choin. A fence is crossed 200m before the small summit cairn is reached. Descend by the line of the fence to the col before Stob an Fhainne and drop down SW towards the Snaid burn which should be followed S to the farm at Garrison. Turn W or right and walk along the Glen Arklet road for 1½ kms to reach the car park and bus at Inversnaid.langskill26/11/2006
