From Auchalatter car park, parking ticket machine currwntlt not in use, but be prepared with some coins just in case. Long but lovely ridge walk, beautiful views, easy path all the way.mazz30/08/2023

From Auchallater, did Creag Phadruig, Meall an t-Slugain, Creag an Loch and Creag nan Gabhar, including a wild camp. Ascended via grouse butts track just after Allt Phadruig, then contoured round to the loch. Walked over hills and descended to Loch Callater Lodge by the munro path, then up Creag nan Gabhar.PiranhaFish14/05/2023
From A93, steeply up the WSW ridge. Fine sunny day, late snow on hills about having been bare 10 days earlier. Good views, contrast to soggy rain cloud first visit.N.Morters15/04/2023
From the car park at Auchallater. Zig zags and then south to the summit in very dry and easy walking conditions. Just over 3.25 hours return. A lovely day! Solo.bolton12/02/2023
After leaving carpark followed estate road to path. Felt like it was a hill walk in three sections. Nothing challenging and good views. With GMacelizyanne13/10/2022

Woke up in Braemar caravan park to a fairly dismal forecast so John and I decided on a quick ascent of Creag nan Gabhar from Auchallater. Walked up the Jock's Road to the zig zag track up to Sròn Dubh and reached a very windy ridge in good time. When we got to the summit, instead of returning the way we came (as planned to make it a quick one), we decided to continue down over to Bealach Buidhe - did not go down to the lodge but continued down he track to Callater Burn and followed it around to a footbridge where we headed over the regain Jock's Road back out to Auchallater. Total time: 3h 10min.mproudfoot04/07/2022
Aucallater carpark, up track then right up track to ridge. Along ridge to summit and off south side to track over bealach. Down to Loch Callater and followed track back down glen.Flatfield17/05/2022
From the A93 at Alltamhait. Headed straight up the SW shoulder, which was horrid and slow, with substantial unavoidable sections of steep and loose rocks and stones. Descended south on decent ground to the good path in the valley which was vastly better.Owen B21/04/2022
Easy afternoon stroll from Auchallater, up the track and path, good snow high up, lovely day, fine views. Descent to Loch Callater into the lovely coire below Carn an Tuirc. Track full of horribly rutted hard snow, nasty to walk on but thankfully short. Nice path to loch starts just before a bend, indistinct but with a cairn. Loch looking lovely in the late sun.Gill207/03/2022

First of the year, for obvious reasons. Nice reintroduction, simple up the ridge back down valley. Didn't fancy the ford as river high do walked left bank about 1km to a small footbridge and crossed there, recommended.pog10026/08/2020

Pretty much an up-n-doon from the A93 as meeting friends in Braemar for tea and ale. Reasonably good going most of the way if you avoid the heather.summitter31/07/2020

From verge parking NW side road NO 1402 8345 (just S of road bridge). Path from here initially indistinct but easily seen running along hillside. This gets you well up the valley but has to be left at some point - near grouse butts. Over short heather and a boggy area to pick up good path to summit at NO 1606 8388. Lovely walkcarole engel10/07/2020
With DH from Auchallater Farm. Visited Lochcaller Lodge bothy (Much improved since last visit). Ascent via Bealach Buidhe and down the north ridge.John Lee11/03/2020
Ascended from Braemar YHA - poor weather forecast ruled out loftier alternatives. Approached from Jock's Road, taking the rack onto Sron Dubh then south up the ridge - loads of unconsolidated snow of the eastern side - ridge was mostly scoured. Strong winds started approaching summit, and make the walk out easierwychwood01/03/2020

From Auchallater, track, then path all the way along N ridge- visited the tops of two knolls on way to summit. Then SE from ridge over a 735 m. knoll to an estate track which led us down to return along by burn. It crossed by a ford, but we followed informal trods to the bridge a mile downstream to avoid crossing. There was purple saxifrage growing on the river flats- a nice bonus on our diversion. Higher up, mountain hares were abundant and very white against the dark moorland. Fine walk, with brother Pete.pwheeler25/03/2019

Weekend at Muir Cottage, Cairngorm Club hut. With friend. We started from A93 road south of Braemar at NO140835 up the footpath going east. Then struck up the hillside north to reach the summit of Creag nan Gabhar. Went ~E and ~N, stopping for lunch. From above Sròn Dubh and N of point 584m we started down a path to the east. When the path made a sharp right turn we made our way down the hillside more directly to meet the track from Lochcallater Lodge. We followed the track to Auchallater where we had left one of the cars.pwbellarby10/02/2002
