Did the whole Scalpay Heritage Trail which goes right over the top. Very boggy but a nice way to see the island and all the better for taking in the cafe at the Eilean Glas lighthouse, lovely home baked cakes. Stormy day but dry - good views to the Shiants but mist down on the higher Harris/Pairc/Skye hills. | StueyB | 28/09/2023 |
With E. Beautiful autumn day. Bagged island summit and lighthouse while on Scalpay Heritage Walk. | Beeliner | 08/09/2022 |
Simple walk from small car park up to the two cairns. Fabulous views. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 06/09/2022 |
Straight off the ferry and onto the heritage footpath, taking in Cnoc Loch an Duin, Beinn Sgorabhaig and the lighthouse, where we just made it in time for coffee and Kendal mint cake. Then back along the village road to grab Cnoc na h-Iolaire. Nice circular in warm September sunshine, and showers at the harbour added a final flourish. | summitter | 05/09/2022 |
Cairn by small pool but heathery lump may be higher. Short diversion from Heritage Way but no time to visit lighthouse. Views of Shiants and lots of lochs. Walked back along coastal road assessing kayak launch sites. | Denise | 15/05/2022 |
Windy with poor weather forecast so stayed low today. | PeteF | 18/04/2022 |
Followed the heritage trail round the island with a considerable detour for Cnoc Loch an Duin. Beautiful 11km loop with trimarc2 on a relatively sunny and mild January day. | Fionalevey | 19/01/2022 |
As described by Fiona. Heritage Trail is worth doing especially if lighthouse is included | trimarc2 | 19/01/2022 |
Car parked by the lane at Ceann a Bhraigh, then lighthouse track to its high point, then across moor to summit. Shiants in distance. Returned by marked path to join lighthouse track again. | willyross | 05/11/2021 |

Car park at 233951. With CM to this great viewpoint after following the lighthouse track and veering off through the heather. Did both cairns. 45 minute return. | bolton | 26/06/2019 |
Evening after ferry arrival...track towards lighthouse then up over easy heather moorland. Fine views | N.Morters | 23/05/2019 |
A few places to park at Ceann a' Bhaigh. Up the road to the lighthouse then noticed a faint trodden path direct to the summit. Returned via the lighthouse and headland, gentle coastal scenery, the way marked by posts (literature available locally). A delightful way to spend the morning, views across to Skye, very dry underfoot helped as there is plenty of the route on peat. | pwheeler | 16/05/2019 |
Debs & Talisker, Anti-clockwise Heritage trail of Scalpay. Weather pants but surprisingly cleared up as we got back to the Van. Slight detour from trail. | Mountain Goat | 29/09/2018 |
From near the road's end, via the lighthouse path, then over heather to the two cairns. Exhilarating views all around. | Nick Down1 | 23/07/2017 |

Parked on a narrow verge just up from a small turning circle at the road's end. On access track to the common grazing. Then over rough moor to one of two ancient cairns with views of the lighthouse to the east. Dull views to the Shiants and South Parc hills. 11.45. 2 cuckoos. | arranc | 07/06/2011 |
