Very hard in waist deep bracken once off the path over the island. Lockdowns in Spring 2020 and 2021 prevented a climb in bracken-free conditions.Kiltie15/08/2021
Kayak from Fairlie with Pete.AndyS18/07/2019
The 1st and most epic of four hills today. With much time asking I managed to arrange a trip with Jim, former owner of Flamingo Yacht charters and he Took me out on their Two man RIB from Largs Yacht haven. Conditions started calm But became more choppy as We headed towards Wee Cumbrae and the Castle jetty. Jim moved across to the North asand decided he couldn't land at the jetty So I jumped onto some basalt rovks on Northern side. It Was a Very tough traverse up and down Two layers of rock strata through dense bracken/brambles forest getting stung prolifically by nettles before emerging onto Summit plateaux about 300m South of lighthouse. Climbed everything that looked high worming my way to the lighthouse including alternative summit. Descent North as far as I Could to scramble down steep cliffs to rocks below. Working my way back to my embarkation point. Jim collected me from a different point and We headed over to Grest Cumbrae. A thrilling adventure .Dazingdale21/09/2016

A round about approach battling through bracken and brambles- forging our own path. Trip with RHB group. Tremendous fun but it could have been much simpler if we had gone up the foot path we came down onShutterlag05/06/2016
From Fairlie Jetty, also waded across to Castle Island. Thanks to Rick S for organising trip.Tony J05/06/2016

Visited all the various lumps to make sure. Great fun exploring both lighthouses and the tidal castle. Party of five people and three adopted dogs that followed us all the way. Mysterious death of a chicken.Martin R07/04/2012
As Martin with Adrian, Mark and Bob being the others of the Famous Five to play on Wee Cumbrae today + 3 JRTs. Bagging the tidal island = Castle Island was a bonus.Dugswell207/04/2012
Pleasant few hours exploring the island with Fiona and 7 others, crossing in a boat from Largs. Bump nearest the single bush was agreed to be the highest point. Found remains of St Bey's chapel on the way down, but not tomb. Final HuMP in subsection 27Aagentmancuso07/04/2012
A busy day with 20 baggers on the island. Also visited the grandly named Hill of Hills to the north of the old lighthouse. Sadly, it did not live up to its reputation. Little sign of St Dey's Tomb and Chapel.chriswatson05/12/2010
Path from Castle Quay towards New Lighthouse, then shortly after a plank bridge North along the ridge towards the Old Lighthouse. GR at door of lighthouse: NS 14313 51467, 128m. Summit probably at NS 14339 51581 (small bush.richtea504005/12/2010
Big flat summit area with numerous bumps. Consnesus has it that a bush carrying knoll about 100m north of the old lighthouse is the one. Very fine viewpointfasgadh05/12/2010
3 summits: the one with small bush, NNE of lighthouse just higher, based on eye-level sightings; NS 14339 51581 according to Richard Tibbetts' GPSr. Interesting island: fine house. Tidal Castle Island also visited: accessible 2h after high (Spring) tide. Charter from Largs yacht marina c/o Andrew TibbettsRHW05/12/2010
