Parked on verge at road bend at NT735715. Public road to Cocklaw then the mast road up to the summit (need to hop a barbed wire fence into a cow field for the last few mins). | Tisteln | 10/11/2023 |
Up the track from Cocklaw. | summitter | 09/08/2023 |
Over sheep fields from the river NNE of Cocklaw. | sclater | 17/06/2023 |
Roadside verge parking ~600m back from the farm (NT 7366 7160). From the farm, good farm/mast track. Visited spot height, then a hop over new fencing for the Hill-nagging high point. Did the trig pillar after and dropped SE from there over easy pasture to regain the outward bound track for a 5k round. | jonglew | 28/02/2023 |
Parked outside number three then followed the path to the cattle grate. Hopped the fence to the field to the west. | JAdair97 | 06/07/2022 |

As I was on W side of the hill, I couldn't be bothered driving round to the east side for the track, so I climbed from the W. Loads of parking on road to Wester Aikengall, used steep track to S of Cauld Burn to access sheep pastures, and then to the summit. And, worryingly, I diverted to the trig. | Minto | 16/01/2022 |

From Oldhamstocks with Rod. Relatives lived at both Cocklaw and Stottencleugh in the late 1800's. Track to Cocklaw Hill (optical illusions on high point but visited everything) then down to Oldhamstocks Burn which seems to run underground much of the time. Then up ridge to Wester Dodd (messy summit) and down via trig point to Yearn Hope. Finished at the churchyard where we found a Stobie grave. | SS | 12/05/2021 |
From near Stottencleugh farm - followed the mast track easily and without drama. nice view of the coast from the mast | maknipe | 07/08/2020 |
Parked at NT73659 71595, by a pile of old 'road spoil'. Walked along to Cocklaw farm, up the mast track, and over grass to the summit. (Also visited the high point of the grassy field SW of the track - new summit from Oct 2020) | LizH | 04/03/2020 |
Late afternoon from Cocklaw Farm up the mast road. Over the grassy top then a visit to the nice stone crafted trigpoint. | N.Morters | 20/11/2019 |
Cross country from Tripslaw. Not a great idea due to having to cross a ravine, but good enough track 500m North of Wester Aikengill and S side of wood near summit gets you there. Visited both potential summits and the trig, then straight down NW to road at Thurston Mains, lanes to Innerwick and rare bus back to Edinburgh. | Thearlaichdubh | 05/02/2019 |
From Cocklaw farm. Parked car in yard. Nobody there to ask (Saturday). Up the track, past a couple of cars that were returning to nature. Continued north beyond the top to the end of the field, for a proper view of the Bass and the Forth. | Pete R | 26/01/2019 |
Used signed ROW from Cocklaw (parking a few hundred meters to NE, along road). From hill summit went on to visit stone built trig pillar. | ger | 19/12/2018 |
Parked to the east at Cocklaw then used permitted track through farm to access the hill. Over summit and then onto trig on a grey morning. | Dugswell2 | 29/08/2017 |
HP is indistinct in domed grassy sheep pasture and SW of the separate Trig. Great views in clear light over coast and farmland after rain. Parked at Stottencleugh and walked up through cow and sheep pasture. Friendly farmer. | Denise | 14/04/2017 |
From Cocklaw, hard surface road most of the way. GPS needed to locate featureless summit in mist. | Topographer57 | 11/06/2016 |
Easy parking along the road to the west, which has been widened to give access to the industrial complex on Wester Dod. Grassy track from NT709712 to gain most of the height, then pasture to summit. | mae | 03/02/2016 |
From Cocklaw farm. Parked car in yard. Nobody there to ask.

Very frisky cattle near summit and made detour south of plantation to stay well clear.

Frisky cattle seems to be a feature of this area! | Campbell Singer | 09/10/2015 |
parked car on verge at start, good track most of the way. | robertphillips | 02/05/2015 |
From Cocklaw | jimbloomer | 15/02/2015 |
Really friendly couple let me park in their garden by the start of the BT track. | Martin R | 27/04/2013 |
Very strong wind. Parked at 7365 7162. | chrisbien | 11/07/2010 |
Up the track from Cocklaw Farm. The drive in is the hard part - the road is blocked beyond Stottencleugh, so I had to retrace my steps. Indistinct summit | agentmancuso | 29/05/2010 |
flat pasture, also visited nearby trig. First light on the descent. Just room to perch car on verge at start of tk. | RHW | 17/01/2009 |
Had been up this hill earlier in the year for the trig point but never went to the top! Nipped back up on the bike while en route home from my parents house. Excellent views on beautiful sunny day. | andy | 02/10/2007 |
