Lay-by 300m N of Tk start (NT789605). Mapped Tx and ground Tx do not correlate. ENE up Tk to EF. RH branch does not exist. Back tracked to double thickness gates at NT794607, then crawl under EF. Followed hedge and BWF NE to wall junction and boggy gate at NT800607. Another gate at NT800606, short grassy tk, then push through trees. On return, found another double thickness gate at NT793606, but still had to crawl under EF again to get to it. EFs abound | Isbjorn | 25/12/2023 |
Another lovely morning with cloud inversion. Started at 246 to NE. Sadly, storm Arwen has wiped out 90% of the plantation. Walked as far as I could through what's left of it until impassable. Then followed field edge and easily into forest. Returned by field edge then track, exiting at 8124 6156. Would recommend as a start point. | Wycombe Wanderer | 01/09/2022 |
From the car park for Edins Hall broch. Up by the stream across a couple of fields through a gate into the SE quadrant, then along the boundary wall and electric fence dodging felled trees, and easily up to hp.Descent over fields to gate opposite Hoardweel farm road. | NormanW | 21/02/2022 |
Up track from south west then left side of wood to gate - new gate then indicates path that gets to maybe thirty yards of the summit reached by some east tree bashing. | SS | 23/09/2021 |
Parked at the gate at NT79529 59792 and walked round to the track up to the SW strip of woodland. Walked up on the NW side of the strip, through a gate and across to the other side where it was easier to access the fairly open wood, and summit. Descended through the field on the SE side, and back to the track. | LizH | 04/03/2020 |
3/4 from west, parking for Edin’s Hall Broch. Up the oak woodland then into grass fields. Track cutting through wood then short bash through to high point, just beyond which is a dump of junk. Highland cows in fields. Went to the Broch afterwards which was a far nicer walk | N.Morters | 02/03/2019 |
P track entrance due W, up for a bit then pasture & gates to forest edge. Staying on track till NT 80117 60728 keeps the trees to an absolute minimum. | agentmancuso | 05/01/2019 |
Parked at edge of gateway to the WSW. Then up track to near quarry, 2 gates, up field edge to gates in corner, then up onto wall along edge of forest which I walked along until a track appear eventually on my left near a field corner. Took this which gets you within 50 metres of the summits. | Dugswell2 | 04/09/2017 |
Centre of Drakemire strips. Approached over fields to west and then along mapped forest track. Then short ( c 50m) easy thrash through trees to apparent HP. No views, unmarked. . Curious small tip of household and agricultural scrap metal next to HP. | Denise | 14/04/2017 |
parked at gate to the west, up track along the side of wood, through small gate into trees for 100m to both highpoints. | robertphillips | 28/01/2017 |
Parked 200 yards south west in large track entrance, walked along the road going north and then proceeded up track to west of hill. Track through woods totally overgrown so went up side of wood to avoid lively cattle in fields either side. Reached track going north cutting into wood for 100m and then joined a path going east. Summit next to scrap metal pit.

Met very friendly farmer back at the car. | Campbell Singer | 09/10/2015 |
From NW. Excellent parking place on A6112, opposite concrete track to pasture. Straight up alongside edge of forest through a series of field gates. Small gate gives access to forest edge, then a bit of a trash to the SW-NE track which cross near the summit, which is about 100m SE of the track | Minto | 02/08/2015 |
From road summit to SSW - paths/vehicle tracks apart from final 50m. | jimbloomer | 18/02/2015 |
Mound SW side of tip NT 80156 60687 (272 GPS) prob slightly higher than mound NE side NT 80173 60708 (273m GPS). From NE, arable edge / pasture | RHW | 11/12/2011 |
Parked at track west of hill. Due to cows and barbed wire went S down road then upto SW end of wood. Found the middle clear strip which was overgrown. | chrisbien | 15/05/2010 |
