Route as described by gerrybowes. Back same way. Solo.Dangerous Dave05/10/2023
Parked in large layby to S. at 779910 - SE down road for about 100m, up to end of forest track & then a well-worn path through heather & bilberry to trig point atop of large cairn.gerrybowes08/07/2023
Followed the forestry tracks from NO 7806 9094.summitsup25/04/2023
Forest track up to the summit then across to Mundernal. Round trip back down via the slug roadPilotralph 18/10/2022

From A957, up forest track to mast and onto trig point, back down on MTB route down firebreak. 45 mins up, 20 mins down.PeterD08/06/2022
Icy track from the FCS Durris carpark to Cairn-mon-earn, then doubled back to Mundernal, finding a Mt Bike path through the trees once off the forestry track. Returned to the car along the wonderfully named Slug Road.summitter08/01/2022
Parked at parking area on A957 just up from end of track at 779911, though there is a small parking area as well just up the track. Follow track up turning left at each junction. Trig point behind last mast. Back the same way. 4.7 miles 1hr 37 walking time.JulieB03/11/2021
Parked at car park Craigie Daff Wood, and strolled through Durris Forest up to trig. Walked back through forest but took different route.JasonStark10/10/2021
Couldn't find direct route due to vegetation up firebreak from SSW, adjacent to mapped track (where small CP, at approx. NJ781909, just up track before locked gate), so up tracks to summit. However, once on top, good path continued south and down firebreak (the MTB trail?). Deteriorated as it descended, especially in bracken belt but passable (up hill would be hard), emerging om road just north of track entrance.carole engel08/08/2021
Need a photo of the trig pillar so headed up for a walk. Removed our geocache we hid in 2009 the trees have grown a lot since we hid the cache making it very difficult to locate it. a cool walk with no views bloomin coastal haarLizzieG04/07/2021

Very warm day, bit cloudy, but still got great views.IainGill16/07/2020
Solo. Start of forest road to Cairn-mon-earn on A957. Along forest road to summit. On the way back I did a bit of exploration of the forest.pwbellarby25/06/2020

After Muldernal, descended SE back to the track, rough but not too bad.Dave McG20/08/2019
Parked on A957 and walked back to forest CP which was full. Then did the spiral on forest tracks to summit. Note attempted this hill yesterday but was asked to leave forest as motor racing (rally) was taking place.garyhoney11/08/2019

From A957 at NO780909 - small parking spot up the forest road incline. Spiralled up, anti-clockwise, taking L at each junction.Isbjorn27/05/2019

With Brian up the forest track. Then down through the forest S.W to the car. Could have done the navigation better!Play2End20/01/2019
Here for the trigpoint. TP:UK log: Easy bag, great track all the way up to the masts from the car park. Shielded from the wind most of the way but bloomin cold and windy at the top.thejackrustles15/12/2018
A very easy stroll starting at sunset from Durris FC car park, nice views from the top in the remains of the sunset. The track is dead easy and not at all steep, no torch required even after it got properly dark. Why are there so many masts?Gill04/11/2018
From end of cycle track at 780909 (7:30) took this, then sharp L onto the track which spirals round the hill eventually to the summit. Clear but dull with limited views. Finish 9:00dbb17/09/2018

Parked in large layby on A957 at NO 77914 91027 and followed the powerlines up through break in forest, soon picking up a trodden line. Quick and easy, although a bit boggy at the bottom and bracken would be an impediment later in the year. Followed forest track from no780909BLACKHILL25/03/2018
A lovely walk through a wooded area. This hill is deceiving and although it's not bad, it is no slouch and is quite long and steep in areas for the unfit and there are some parts around 2/3 of the way up that is quite eroded. Even on a slightly misty day like we had, there are brilliant views! There are no dog bins but there was dog bags (full) left lying at the gates and some even discarded around the trail. I am not sure if this is something you do when you have dogs or not but I found it a bit odd bagging the poop and leaving it bagged for people to walk by at the entrace gate. There is a small parking area which was empty upon arrival at 11.30am, but was full when we returned to the car. It was slightly boggy but no issues with ingress or egress.J4MRU15/03/2018

Easy walk up the track. Low cloud on the summit.Windy Corner23/09/2017
Parked in the small parking area at the start of the track up the hill. Followed the track in the snow to the summit. With JT.Sprog13/02/2017
Unexpected Hill when passing. From parking on slug road... had to follow easy track anti-clockwise to summit given only had approach shoes in car.N.Morters03/02/2017
Parked in lay-by on A957 just after track entrance at NO780909. Followed forest tracks in anticlockwise spiral to submit. Great views and lots of blaeberries on top.Danmawr21/08/2016
Dense bracken in forest firebreaks so up forest roads, and down by mountain bike track to the west.NormanW21/06/2016
Followed the ride from 780910. An easy solo walk of 50 minutes on a good path to the summit. Warm and sunny.bolton08/05/2016

Easy following a bike tail up under the power line.jenx23/01/2016
Up the ride following the power lines to antennae. A very good path now helped by MTB. Up in 20 mins and back in less. Why one would want to circumvent the hill on the tracks or thrash through the spruce as described below I don't know. Good CP over the road from start of ride.nordicstar23/01/2016
A delightful and glorious sunny October late afternoon. Anticlockwise spiral up forest tracks to the open summit, trig and radio towers.vegibagger21/10/2015
Solo ascent. After ascending Mundernal. I continued on the broad track that starts at NO772918. I left the broad track to take the somewhat narrower track that leads to the summit of Cairn-mon-earn. There are six masts on the summit area, The highest point is at a trig point that sits on a very large ancient cairn. I returned down the tracks to NO772918. I have been up this hill several times before but not recorded the dates; at least this ascent will ensure that the hill is included in counting up how many ascents I have made in various categories.pwbellarby09/10/2015
Trekked over from Clune Wood in pursuit of a cache. Top very mysterious in the half light. Horrible descent through the trees in hopes of a shortcut.Fear-allabain25/08/2015
ThearlachDubh has the right idea. There is no need to do any close tracks through sitka . I just followed the broad forestry tracks round the hill until I reached the summit, longer this way, but heh we all enjoy walking :) Cracking dayAlisonFox66 24/01/2015
from 773919 fc durris carpark track to high point, up through felled area of trees, then 100m of sitka bashing to the top.robertphillips03/12/2014
