Parked on a lane between two gates at SO 47884 11165 - room for one car only. Took the lane up north, then bridleway and tracks up into the forest to the brambly HP just off the track. Return by outward route. 5.3km with 180m of ascent.Man of Kernow124/02/2024
From south; parked At estate entrance on bend. Followed field path north, enter deciduous woods. HP unmarked in undergrowth. Continue south to trig,Denise 03/11/2023
From the SSE. Farm track past chicken shed then field paths to forest. Forest rides with Sweet Chestnut trees. Path along ridge parallel to track crosses unmarked high point in scruffy woodland of Birch & Hazel. Understorey of light brambles and ferns. No views.RichardM03/11/2023
Cycled up from Whitehill Farm on the bridleway. The summit was rather brambled but not far off the path. A disappointing summit of lovely woods.Rob Rees19/08/2023
2nd Hump of 7 for the day. Parked at entrance to Whitehill farm and followed bridleway without difficulty to SO476122, approaching summit along good path. Should have gone back the same way as the bridleway from 481118 to 476119 was completely overgrown and impossible to follow necessitating a fight through vegetation. Good views across to Craig-y-Dorth and Meend on occasion.Mark Jackson08/07/2023
From Whitehill Farm to the SW. Good forest roads and paths to the summit and trig point.Minto08/07/2023
Parked at Wonastow; reasonable paths all the way.DC11main30/04/2023
6 mile solo run loop from Monmouth .. up using Offas Dyke path then forest paths to top and trig which is a bit lower and field paths and cycle track back to town .. nice loop,milejunkie16/04/2023
From SO 4732 1156. Pleasant woodland tracks. Brambly, barely distinguishable top.summitsup30/08/2022
Nice stroll with my daughter after a morning in Monmouth. Similar to others, parked at the entrance to Whitehall Farm & followed Bridleway and tracks to the top. Final push through dense bramble to summit point.Gerry the Ranger02/06/2022
Ran into problems at the new school and retreated to use the bridleway just N. Start passes a chicken shed.jimbloomer13/10/2021
Parked on roadside about 20m below start of bridleway at SO 4860 1107 - Up bridleway to gate at SO 4814 119, through gate & up path just inside wood to track junction - Turned left & NNW along track for about 300m to fingerpost - Turned right, up path to ridge & then ESE along ridge to within 10m of summit; this lies N. of path, behind masses of brambles & nettles. Headed back along ridge for about 60m to obvious animal track, into wood for about 10m & then made use of another animal track to summit GR. (S)gerrybowes17/06/2021
With Tony J after a quick Wetherspoons brunch in town.Alex C03/06/2021
Out of the way parking, close to the hedge outside White hill Farm Cottage. Missed bridleway off to the right on edge of woods continuing along farm track to 177m spot height. Turning right here follow track to summit area. The high point is just off the track I the brambles between x and x. Went on to th trig then looped round descending through woods along bridleway I had planned to use on the as Can.mntainman18/04/2021
From Whitehill- by following the track via Whitehill Wood the route to the HP was an enjoyable springtime woodland walk. The broad rides were already showing plenty of flowers. Back down the broad ridge, improved pasture, to Wonstanow House, better parking in Wonstanow on wide lanes, then quiet lanes back to Whitehill. Paths seem well marked, and more than shown on my map, in this area.pwheeler22/04/2018
Parked at entrance to Whitehill farn, up track and Bridleway to woods, line from here difficult to follow, overgrown. Not used as a bridleway anymore clearly, odd fallen tree. Made up to higher track and from junction took to path leading to summit, that was good. Continued to trig and then on to bridleway at GR481118. Thought we take the line back thru Orles Wood to start, whilst BW began well it disappeared in area of new plantings, found line thru the wood but wet and overgrown, not the pleasant stroll we'd expected.nordicstar04/10/2017
Not as easy as the map suggests. Paths pretty overgrown in places.jenx04/10/2017
Up the bridleway from SO485110 to 4785 1219 where an unmarked path went NNE up to the ridge path. Then ESE past the summit and trig and SSE to meet the track at 4817 1198. NW to get back to the bridleway at 481120 then back S to the car.Jim.Fothergill29/07/2017
From start of BW, past temperature controlled store, good path all the way except for last few metres which was well trodden down. Also visited trig.PeterD22/04/2017
With K and A in dark. From farm entrance to south. Bridleway through wood difficult but passable.Ashley08/12/2016
Parking for a couple of cars at the beginning of the bridleway at Worthybrook. Then bridleway plus forest tracks to the summit Long Hill in the trees then continued along to Longhill Wood trig.Dugswell223/10/2016
From Wonastow war memorial (no run-ins with any farmers fortunately). Easy walk on good paths almost right to the top, followed by a good thrash around in the woods.Tony J08/04/2016
From end of Watery Lane, Monmouth. Path goes through a garden, to the left of a barn conversion. Followed forest tracks and eventually found a path up to the trig point and then close to the presumed summit. Did a bit of bramble bashing but it was fairly futile. Returned by same route.Herbert Anchovy17/06/2015
Nice along forest track from WorthybrookRamblingpaul13/04/2015
Don't park next to war memorial at Wonastow unless you want to seriously upset the local farmer!! Unfortunately, I did and had a ten minute lecture from him.Campbell Singer10/02/2015
2/7 Climbed today but difficulty getting to top like the rest. The trig point is a little below the topFergalh23/11/2014
Approach from S. Thick woodland with brambles, best stick to the paths. Summit in woodland, thick undergrowth.Adrian26/10/2014

Parked at war memorial, easy walk up bridleway past the chicken farm. The summit is in an overgrown thicket, I had to resort to crawling at times.Chris Peart24/09/2013
From Monmouth climbed from the south and returned on Offa's Dyke. Very muddy fields made it a bit of a trudge.rhalstead27/01/2013
Parked in Monmouth and walked out along Watery Lane and Offa's Dyke Path, climbing up through a wet and muddy King's Wood to the summit; returning via Wonastow Brake. Farily good views south from the top and also over Monmouth on the way off the hill.jonglew02/12/2012
Parked by war memorial in Wonastow. There are only so many brambles that one can tramp about to be sure of "claiming" the summit.clivevilla06/09/2011
Parked at memorial, then public paths all the way. Which bramble is on the true summit? Quite nice walk really - my favourite of the day.Martin R31/07/2011
Parked with permission at the Priory. Overgrown paths to edge of wood then tracks. Top is past trigchrisbien09/05/2011
Parked to NE. RH bend would be better. Walked up private lane as no sign of path in field. Track all the way to the topdestaylor10/09/2010

Parked near the War Memorial on Wonastow and walked up through the fields from there. Near the trig one is confronted by ferns and brambles but there is a track up to the trig point from the east.Father Ted03/04/2010
walked from Dingestow along the well sign posted bridleway.Their are some fine views to be had at brakes through the woodland. The only down point is a summit covered in nettles but still a nice little hillhodder11/04/2009
