Followed Smocks and Denims. Worked fine. Good views. | IanHHill | 16/03/2024 |
Park off the road at Studfold this is far the best way to gain this hill. Follow the road to the farm and just before the buildings go through the wooden gate and follow the path to an old metal gate ,climb over and follow the ATV track up passed the ruins and on to the Trig Point. Very friendly farmer, had a good crack for 10minutes.Return the same way. | smocks and denims | 19/12/2023 |
From NY 0382 2031 (over Open Access). | summitsup | 11/06/2023 |
From SW, verge parking by rickety gate. Track alongside fence to tree, then cuts the corner to meet fence which has to be climbed. Over sub-summit to main top. Back same way. | Minto | 30/12/2022 |
From north, variation from others. Parked at track east of Keekle Head Farm near spot height 201. Direct track to fields on way up I turned left to get over double barb fence/wall, easy enough but not needed. Over moorland past the ruins to trig. Return via track leaving as it curves, then more direct over gap in barb wire over remaining fence into middle field, easy to car. Avoids farm and bog to west of farm. 5/5 | N.Morters | 22/10/2022 |
As others from the gate at 038203, turning immediately right then across a field, fence, little burn and up to the summit. | LizH | 25/02/2022 |
From North | vegibagger | 25/05/2021 |
From SW (P by rickety gate) - a bit tussocky in places. Good summit views. | ger | 06/02/2020 |
What a b****r to finish a long day. Parked, as others by the rotting gate (but be sure to turn right immediately to avoid a boggy area just beyond|). No paths, tortuous sieves, deep channels and a summit that fails to get any closer however long you walk. Won't be returning. | moorsman | 17/10/2019 |
Parked near gate at 038203. After 300 yds got across wire fence and then directly to the summit. A 30 minute solo return. | bolton | 15/04/2019 |
No RoW over surrounding land. Designated open access area. | Isbjorn | 08/09/2018 |
From spot height 202 to SW. Got disorientated in mist. Phone so smart it texted Mel to tell her I was at the cinema. | Wycombe Wanderer | 01/09/2018 |
High Park from GR: NY 03786 22093 | ronaldo333 | 29/04/2018 |
Good roadside parking at Studfold. Walked down to Keekle Head Farm, no-one about - except caged and barking dogs. Carried on, on muddy farm tracks to the dilapidated WWII vintage buildings. HP and trig pillar a short distance further in rough pasture. | jonglew | 22/01/2018 |
As others, parked by rotting gate at 038203 - Over gate & made way up to barbed wire fence; plenty of tussocks & some boggy areas - Over fence & made way up to trig point, giving the 6 or 7 cattle a wide berth. Greeted by friendly farmer who’s used to seeing trig point baggers. (S) | gerrybowes | 01/01/2018 |
From Studfold, crossing fields just before Keekle Head Fm. to gain access land and a glorious viewpoint on a gently sloping moor with old mining ruins. We met a family exploring their new domain- they had just moved into the former pub at Studfold, another relic of the mining days. One couldn't help being noticed from the farm, as we set off all the dogs barking (4 x between us). No one seemed to care to confront us. With Murton Fell, this gave us a very pleasant transfer day between Eskdale and Keswick. With Pete. | pwheeler | 30/09/2017 |
parked near gate across field with bwf to the top with renee. | robertphillips | 27/05/2016 |
As others started from disused gate, out and back. | rhalstead | 29/12/2015 |
From rough verge by gate at NY 03821 20315. Sneaked up on summit from west to avoid highland cattle. They seemed to be in a goring mood! | David Gradwell | 25/08/2015 |
From rickety gate to SW passing over intermediate bump. One fence to step over. | Aye Jimmy | 30/07/2015 |
Up from the gated entrance to SSW over the rough open-access land. The highland cattle kept a wary eye on me but no more. | Father Ted | 24/07/2014 |
From SW near the Access Ground gate, avoiding flooded bog under the gate. | Eddie | 18/04/2014 |
With Eire, Evan, Sail, Danu, Coel & Alfie.
