Frosty start from Linn of Quoich at 06:20am Walked whole way. Followed path through Glen Quoich and up An Diollaid. Reached Beinn a’Bhuird as cloud rolled in descended to Sneck after some dubious navigation in the clag. Very windy at Sneck. Up to Ben Avon due to the wind it was harder than I’d have liked to get to the top of both the higher tors. Not sure which was higher but the south one was harder. Descent to Sneck down Glas Allt Mor then west through woods beside Quoich water to outward route. Walked at speed time taken including stops 7 hours 59 minutes for 23.2 miles | isabelle | 05/10/2023 |

Solo bike and hike from Keiloch taking in Ben Avon and Beinn a'Bhuird - ride into Gleann an-Slugain starts well, but gets progressively rougher - the last half-mile before the ruins was a bit too rough >.< Did anti-clockwise route from there - using the excellent path all the way along to the route up to The Sneck and hit up Ben Avon first - nice wee light scramble up the summit tor. The pull up Beinn a'Bhuird from The Sneck was a bit of a gravelly slog, and the plateau above was not particularly interesting - much like the pile of stones marking the (North) Summit of Beinn a'Bhuird -the 8th highest mountain in the UK deserves better! Was glad to get back to the bike though I walked out the first half mile again, as it looks barely rideable. Total time 7h 5mins. | mproudfoot | 03/07/2021 |

Biked up Glen Quoich. Track re-routed from NO 1018 9208 (very steeply uphill) to NO 0873 9250 (very steeply down) - rough stony track for just over a mile. Too rough for me to bike, massive effort to push. Good surface next mile. Car park meter currently covered - free parking. | carole engel | 07/07/2020 |

From the sneck after Ben Avon. Ice axe reassuring on the snow. Clear blue sky gave brilliant views and tan from the snow. Descended south east from Chap a Chleirich down easy snow slopes as the plod to the south top in the soft snow would have been hard work. Cycled back to Keilock. A great day out. | mindlessflogger | 22/03/2016 |

Mammoth day. Solo. First good weather in ages. Stayed Braemar youth hostel. Only intended to do Ben Avon but such a good day silly not to do both given the long trudge in. Started from Keilach road end. Early bus from Braemar. Up pa St Invercauld House , Gleann t-S luga in, Clach a Cle.rich. Good path not on map up to the Sneck. Then up to beinn a Bhuird and return to Sneck and up to Ben Avon. Struggled in the heat. Then long long walk out. Just made the last bus back to Braemar. Solo. With James. From at Keiloch road junction. After climbing South Top of Beinn a' Bhuird in misty conditions, we proceeded towards North Top. Half way the mist lifted and there were good views all round. Descended over Cnap a' Chlèirich. | pwbellarby | 08/04/1996 |
With Rhona Fraser. From Linn of Dee. After Beinn Bhreac and Beinn a' Chaorainn. On the steep slope upwards we put crampons on again. It was excellent for crampons on an extensive area of Beinn a' Bhuird. Increasingly there were snow flurries and visibility decreased so that we had to follow a compass bearing. The summit cairn of the North Top of Beinn a' Bhuird was reached at 15:30. We took a compass bearing for the end of the land rover track but overshot. On seeing the burn below we descended steeply to join it; we were glad to get to the sheltered conditions. Crampons were removed and we followed the burn into the Dubh Ghleann, reasonably easy at first, but the wooded area low down was diabolical with soft snow, tree roots and mud to contend with. We joined the track and walked down to the road, instead of using the Clais Fhearnaig route as originally intended. It was a belated supper for us. A grand day in spite of difficulties at times. | pwbellarby | 17/02/1996 |
