As others, Parking at the start of the bridleway then along the path to parallel with the summit, very muddymatty1971b10/12/2023
Space to pull in at the start of the footpath to the NW. Crop in the field but lines left by the tractor meant I could get to the top.Wheelsy14/07/2023

On own. Parked on Lead Road, along a track and up to the hill summit. Note the boundary hedge/fence shown on OS map has been removed leaving a large open field. Very muddy underfoot.Beeliner17/10/2022
What a dramatic start to locking your keys in the car! Fortunately, a local Jordy was kind enough to help get my keys from a little metal rod under a tiny open bit of window. Fortunately then, I was free from being stuck in Chopwell. The County Top was just as I expected. Aggressive cows that ran towards me but by then, I really couldn't care less what they do as this was the last county top that was definitely bullshit to do in England. They ran away from me eventually as I showed no fear in me and got to the summit which was literally a big pile of dump! What a way to do the highest point of Tyne and Wear!!DavidHiner28/08/2022
I was here 02/01/22 but did not go to hp, not wanting to trample on the newly planted crops. Back today after harvesting and no problems walking across stubble field. Solo.Dangerous Dave21/08/2022
Beware the rivers of dung on the approach from the minor road.mrs_ts706/04/2022
Parking at the start of the bridleway then along the path to parallel with the summit.moorsman02/07/2021
Parked in track entrance without blocking it before a quick walk into the field.rhalstead27/09/2020
Verge parking (NZ 1047 5950). Chatted with farmer who was about to sow the field, happy for me to walk over to the high point, which would seem to be pretty much on a grubbed up field boundary - shown on my 25k mapping.jonglew31/08/2019
Parked in the entrance to the footpath that goes past the wooded area and then past the top which is in the first field on the left. The crop was established when I arrived so could only use the tractor tracks to move around so as not to damage the crop being a responsible hill bagger that I am, closest I could get was 10650 59346 so that will have to do, the top was between two tracks so was only about two meters off.WAYNE ROWLETT04/08/2018
Parked on side of the road, along a track and up to the hill summitjmistry8624/03/2018
Repeat visit to the much improved manure heap and ploughed filed. The fence line is still missingnordicstar13/11/2017
Parked off road in muddy lane to NW. High point in field E of track. Followed tractor lines to crest of hill.John Lee18/10/2017
From access track to HP in field. Farmer is currently moving soil and rubble into north end of field creating artificially higher point.PeterD08/04/2017
Field in which the footpath from Leadgate plantation to Ashtree farm passes through. The 259m point by the water tower at Moss/Crossbanks plantation is in Northumberland. The radio masts, slightly north of Broomfield Farm makes a slightly more interesting summit even if it falls about a metre short of the field. While the actual summit itself is not so spectacular there are some very nice vistas of the Derwent and Tyne valleys from the Lead Road. You can see as far as Hexham to the West and the outskirts of Newcastle to the East. The Cheviot and Hedgehope Hill are visible on a clear day to the North.NorthernWayfarer04/10/2016
Parking by entrance to field. Very flat summit. Abney indicated that the Hump summit is to the W and not here!jimbloomer30/07/2016

From access track at Moorgate Plantation to Gateshead Met District Top. Summit is a grass dome with indistinguishable high point. Then to the Currock Hill Hump/Tump.afoster02/05/2016
From north. Along fly tippers paradise lane to gate & field. Indefinite top. Fortunately frozen ground or would have got extremely muddy. Then to the wilds of Gateshead & completion.ngthack26/02/2016

Snow, frozen ground and a large gibbous moon made this night time visit a bit more memorable than it otherwise would have been.Alex C30/01/2015
With GB late in the afternoon. Very wet underfoot. Also went over to the 'other' top.bolton06/01/2015
Parked at the end of the track to the NW (104595) - Went through the gate and made way to the summit of CoU/CoA. Then did the alternative summit, parking by the water tower and walking back down the road to access the field & its summit mound close to the hedge. (PM)gerrybowes06/01/2015
Walked from Prudhoe station via High Mickley and Hedley on the Hill, then the direct route back. Would make for an excellent bike ride, but a bit of a dull plod along the roads (although some good views to be had). Hungry walkers should note the Adam & Eve by the station serves enormous meals!Richard14/09/2014
Parked on the minor road to the NW then gentle walk across field to flattish summit.Dugswell231/08/2014
Settled for 10717,59214 from the road to the north.Crib Goch17/12/2013
Climbed on a circular route, Blackhall Mill, Milkwell Burn and west riding woods, then along the road through headley on the hill, returned via chopwell and chopwell woods. Nice walk however very wet and windy today.scotty29910/10/2013
Tramped around high point in field, also by manure heap which seemed as high. Then along road to tower and back.malcorbett31/07/2013
Passed when on a cycle ridebroadoak200601/07/2013
Approached from Leadgate via Ashtree through the snow. Manure heap impeded our exit to the north and is now more of a small range than a hill.Newton Maximus19/03/2013
i think the top is at the north side of the field near to the road at NZ 10635 59508. The alternative top 1m down the road is at NZ 09617 59363DARRENG26/09/2012
Parked at track end by road. Manure heap now small hill in own right. Field planted w wheat so carefully used tractor runs to gain apparent top in the crop. Great views into Tyne valley and Durham dales. Also to fomer water tower top.nordicstar02/08/2012
Aled Edwards & Jason Ashby completed for the 2012 Morris Lubricants County Top Challenge for the TCT.morrislube19/07/2012
Easy parking end of track to NW. No footpath but track takes you to rhb at corner of field and then to summit. Visited road alternative.destaylor02/06/2012
Hamsterley to Prudhoe.Smudge11/12/2011
From farm access track at 10485947. Sunny day. Through gate and onto rounded grassy field. Top could be anywhere here. Walked to what appears highest point.Argentum6615/08/2011
KJFcrazy04/06/2011
cycled 20 miles to this gentle domed grass field. The highest point could be nearer the road. Didn't want to explore as field surround was a mud bath.Jhimmy19/01/2011
Parked at the N end of the right of way to Ashtree. Top could be anywhere. Drove over the pt 259 on the road.chrisbien25/08/2010

Parked on the roadside at the water tower and walked east along the roadside. A quiet Friday morning. Summit in the grassy meadow.Moorponder30/10/2009
Parking to the north near entrance to woods is easy. Walked south along footpath, past boggy manure heaps and into the field to find the high point at the given grid reference.Father Ted13/10/2008
Highest point appears to be 300 mtrs N of point 259, probably a metre or so higher Also, there's another point 259 1km west on the road at NZ097594maknipe11/09/2007

Large pasture field(watch out for cowpats!)gave the dung heap a miss, far too soft and went for the centre of field.chris creedy30/09/2006
Got to centre of domed pasture field and stomped around a bit. Then decided that highest spot (on this date) was top of a straw/dung heap just south of the triangle of wood south of the road. Fortunately it was firm underfoot & GPS read 263m.signyred15/08/2006
Indeterminate point in field - good views though!wheresthepath10/07/2006
Made a good circuit of the field to bag high pointgaryhoney04/01/2006

On my old db as two points. W summit (Labourn's Fell P12): pasture S of road, pleasant pasture summit, fine views, at night (my last E+W County Top); E summit: unexciting pasture summit, mast, pleasant view. FP from wide gateway to NW.RHW17/11/2002
107592 in middle of grassy field. Road verge appeared higher and towers to east about a mile away.arranc22/07/2000
