Parked in Cassop. Walked along the road past Dene House Farm. The gate is usually locked and covered with barbed wire. Currently the summit is a home for a herd of cows and their very young calves. Trig surrounded by mud. We were fortunate to meet Les Oliver, who kindly escorted us to the summit in his tractor. He even took our photo at the trig pillar. What a lovely young man. I was staying in Durham for work and had a free day. No taxis available so walked 5 1/2 miles each way and ascended from a gate to the north across a field of stubble.clivevilla19/08/2023

New gate with barbed wire to deter walkers. Chatted to the landowner at the summit who was shooting with rifle/shotgun hybrid. He was pleasant but warned us that it is not safe up there and the gate was put in for a reason.Wycombe Wanderer29/08/2021

Not a very exciting hill. Pretty wet too.jenx12/08/2017
Here for the trigpoint. Parked on the B6291 and followed a track through a field of cows. We managed them shoo them off, but they were a little too curious and followed us! One got a bit excitable and started jumping. Got cornered at an old trailer but we managed to clamber over it into the next field, phew. Round to the trig with a big England flag on it. Came back through field with crop in along tractor track to find we ended up on the road with not even a fence to cross. Top tip do not enter cow field!thejackrustles09/06/2017
With K. England flag appears to have been replaced. Current one has ENGLAND printed on it and has already weathered away as far as the D.Ashley21/12/2016
3/7 Third of seven (Mickle Fell/Boldon Hills/Strawberry Hill/Rombold's Moor (Ilkey Moor)/Weets Top/Abbot Hills/Black Hill) Long 4 hour slog through rain for this one.Fergalh09/07/2016
Flag still flying proudly, but worn down to vertical section of cross. Myriad heather burning fires across 180 degrees of the horizon. Makes you realise how much of the NY Moors are grouse murdering territory.ngthack25/02/2016
