The bank of roadstone in front of toilet block is higher!cjo18/12/2023
Oxford cross country was cancelled so a quick trot round Shotover Park included the hill from outside the fence.PhilipChaston09/12/2023
Was it worth the battle with the Friday evening traffic? Well, it was an oasis after the chaos of Oxford below.Newton Maximus28/04/2023
Comms gate wide open as construction work still taking place, easy stroll over to the summit area. Barb Wire behind toilet block also down so easy to get in from there if comms gate closed. Had a wander around the country park.Jephcote8306/01/2023

walked up Old Road from near Nuffield Hospital.IanHHill25/10/2022
Following Muswell Hill returning to Oxford. Up road to carpark. First attempted field entry to east, then mast area, finally braved the overgrown toilet block. Fences just about passable, bars and burr bushes aside. Just before dark, car park was surprisingly busy ;)N.Morters22/09/2022
Clambered over the fencing before noticing that the gate by the mast was open .... doh!summitter18/08/2022
Comms gate wide open as construction work taking place at the bottom of the hill Monday to Friday, easy stroll over to the summit area. Barb Wire behind toilet block also down so easy to get in from there if comms gate closed.Jephcote8323/12/2021

I wasn't looking forward to this given previous reports of potentially awkward fencing to contend with, but my luck was in - the gates by the comms mast were wide open and so it couldn't have been easier.milimana02/11/2020
After Red Hill and an awkward crossing of A40, then followed bridleway from NW to top. Actual top is as described by Steve Smith. The fences are a three part defensive barrier. Why? What is going on in there? A good argument for full right to roam. Followed small but good FP to north to catch bus backtrimarc207/10/2020
Difficult one to access. Parked in Shotover Country Park car park and first went behind abandoned toilet block in NW corner. Not only is fence double barbed wired with 1m between rows it is well overgrown. Followed 'Old Road' west then turned north along field boundary until it started to descend significantlt heading away from summit, which was also double barbed wire. Returned to car park and checked out south boundary where the fence is not so secure however did not head to middle of field just to be on exact summit, clearly not wanted to access field from these directions so claim tick due by being as close as practical to summit with head above highest point. Maybe better access from north side of field from Bayswater Road and possibly permission from Monk's Farm.mntainman19/07/2020
Over bwf as others and back. Off to Red Hill next on driving tour of hills east of Oxford.KC11/06/2020
Nice 29km loop from Bernwood Forest.atreides788707/06/2020
Free car park at SP 5641 0621 - Managed to straddle the loose barbed wire fencing behind ruined toilet block in NW corner of car park - A short walk over pasture to the unmarked summit. (S)gerrybowes27/05/2020
1st hill of 6 on an 18.3km loop from New Headington to Islip station. From my Airbnb in New Headington I headed over to the co-op for supplies then headed up through the estate and onto Old road over the A4142 before heading over fence into the field to search for the summit. I recorded 169m @ SP 56364 06272 and 168m @ SP 56382 06258 however land very level and also potential summit contender in hedge further North @ SP56595 06244. I continued to follow Old road, turning Ne up a lovely wooded avenue then fp N then Nne heading for Red hill....Dazingdale07/07/2019
Entry into field N of car park as suggested by DD.Aye Jimmy23/03/2019
If one wanted to get into the field without being seen, one could step over the damaged barbed wire fence behind the ruined toilet block in the corner of the car park. Solo.Dangerous Dave10/03/2019
Over fence from CP. With B and R.jenx09/12/2018
From CP next to top, the barricades to scale to gain summit. With Jenx and Bryher. In reality much of the fencing is in poor state although holes do seem to get patched up. Find your spot in the day!nordicstar12/09/2018
4am wake up to create a full bagging day on way to Tewkesbury for BES Himalayan leader meet. This was my 1st top, superbly timed for the dawn chorus at 0630 with bird song almost, but not quite, drowning out the noise of the main road to the N which noisily contradicts the website for this country park which claims it is a peaceful haven. However, they are certainly right about the diverse wildlife claim if you include the nearby 'Haddington Shark' impaled in the roof of a house !Chris Pearson17/02/2017
From the park & ride car park on the A40 (£2) at SP 56759 07388. Took the RoW south over playing fields and along edge of woods up to the car park, then over a gap in the fence south into the summit field. Returned by route of ascent. Solo. Cold sunny weather.Man of Kernow125/11/2016
Another nice hill with an uncharismatic summit for which the only interest is the challenge of finding the spot- and, again, in a nice walking area with good access. Parked on the Littleworth End of Shotover Plain and walked straight across to the summit, then returned via Brasenose Wood and Westhill Farm, a pleasant 1.5 h walk. A few pre-bagging walks here when I didn't play find the summit.pwheeler01/11/2016

Nice area - worth exploring the country park!twg2707/06/2016
Field to North of car park, took a while to find gap in fence that could be easily stepped over, but once I did, was rewarded by the sight of two deer on field boundary.PeterD31/03/2016
Some where in the essentially level grassy field to NW of large (free) car park. A cold and wet evening. www.shotover-wildlife.org.uk provides some really excellent information on the ecology and geology of the area.RichardM13/02/2016

Parked next to CS Lewis's house in Risinghurst before going thro' the nature reserve of his name and footpath to car park near mast at Shotover Hill. Time spent exploring here is well rewarded.Dugswell206/03/2012
With DP from Cambridge doing all the Chiltern HuMPs in a day. Least salubrious top I've visited in a long while - mound covered in brambles and litter by ruined building in corner of car park.Mark Jackson18/02/2012
HuMP-bagging day trip to the Chilterns with Mark Jackson. As others have found, the bank next to the car park seemed to be higher than anything else.davidpettit8418/02/2012
Walked to ROW to the west, the top of the mound and into the field to the N of the parking. Someone has pushed down part of the fencing! 09:12chrisbien05/12/2011
I too think it's the mound in the corner of the car park near the brick outhouse.simon and co13/07/2011

One of many walks as my local Hill. from Horsepath village turn opposite the hairpin bend. Take immediate right and continue to tack. Parking just passed houses. Take left path over style and continue up and down over ridges and finally up to top.marketherton26/11/2010
