From free (donations gratefully recieved) chapel car park in Balwest | mart0797 | 25/03/2023 |
Tregonning Hill and Godolphin Hill from the car park in Balwest. | summitter | 16/01/2023 |
3.7 mile circular from small car park at Balwest. We followed path easily onto the summit of Tregonning Hill, then managed to take the wrong path through Herland Croft. Up minor road, then paths not marked on the map up onto Godolphin Hill, descending via Rocky Lane, minor roads and footpaths back to Balwest. Dull and cloudy. Our hills were actually in the cloud. Not a great view today. 190m ascent. 1 person about. | DanTrig | 18/10/2022 |
Pleasant walk from the Chapel car park. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 01/07/2022 |

This is a really nice hill. You park at a little church. There is a trig pillar and a monument at the top. I climbed them both. Albie aged 7 | Albie Gradwell | 12/01/2022 |
A revisit in lovely weather at the end of the walk from Pengelly Cross to visit Godolphin House and climb Godolphin Hill. Good to come back here again. Carried on to Ashton to catch the bus back to Penzance. | thesweetcheat | 24/06/2021 |
Here for the trigpoint. TP:UK log:

Recently developed parking area for 2 vehicles on junction triangle by start of RoW at SW 5964 3002 (large church car park to N. of junction also available to visitors) - Gentle climb up RoW to the War Memorial & summit trig point. Also stood on the rock NNE of the memorial which is as high. (S) | gerrybowes | 16/06/2021 |

Good parking area in Balwest. Path goes anti clockwise to the summit. Great views. Earth mound looks the highest. | bolton | 25/07/2020 |
Parking for 3 or 4 cars at west end of PROW SW 59639 30020. Stuck with prow all the way to summit turning left SSE of summit. Easy option on well worn path rather than taking earlier fp that looked very vague on the ground and right tangle of gorse and brambles.War memorial and trig at summit, murky drizzle so no views. | mntainman | 22/01/2020 |
Parked near the churchyard for an easy up and down to the trig point and cross and rivet near the bench at the bottom. Lots to bag here! | Father Ted | 04/05/2019 |

Parking for a few cars at the start of path in Balwest, simple up and down. | rhalstead | 04/03/2017 |
Trig and War memorial on top. HP is probably a earth mound with bramble nearby. Day walk whilst our boat was moored at Penzance and including Godolphin hill as well. Ruins of tin mines are interesting. | Denise | 15/07/2016 |
This and Godolphin make a fine pair of hills with lots of mining interest as well. Engine houses in col are well worth a visit as you can stand on gratings and look down the deep shafts. | RichardM | 15/07/2016 |
Walk up from Ashton in drizzle, stopped off to see the excellent Bronze Age cairn on the southern summit, then past the Preaching Pit up to the hillfort. Sky cleared and sun came out as we sat up at the memorial. Excellent views across West Penwith, St Agnes Beacon, Carnmenellis, etc. Descent to the northeast to visit the Iron Age round then back to Ashton to catch the bus. | thesweetcheat | 21/06/2016 |
Galltywenallt | 20/05/2016 | |
Combined with Godolphin Hill, and got drenched. Couldn't find any path from north and ended up walking round roads to find decent way up from south. | Mark Sims | 23/12/2015 |

Easy stroll up from Balwest (parking next to toilet). Lovely little hill, high point is probably embankment to W of trig (presumably old enough to avoid the man-made rule...?). | wheresthepath | 18/09/2011 |
Up at 7am from random campsite near Praa sands – mostly slopey field except for top edge, only 1 shower – queue, but only £10.50 in total. Caravan next to our small tent had a small garden of pot plants , lights, barbecue etc.
Tregonning Hill Hump – mist and light rain settled in (for the day). Monument on top. It was here n 1745 that kaolin (china clay) was found after much searching to make porcelain as the Chinese were ding rather than earthenware. Kaolin being a rare type of decomposed granite, finer than most talcum powder. | Chris Pearson | 10/08/2010 |
