DDFR Honestly not worth it.Donpeblo17/02/2024
Quick circular walk on the way to afternoon tea nearby. Parked at the village hall and headed to HP. Back to car via three shires stone. Had a quick look inside the medieval church in Covington before leaving.catie11/11/2023
Whilst the summit itself is nothing to talk about, this is an area with some very pleasant countryside for walking through.justin_j_evans12/08/2023
Didn't find it boring. A hurricane was practicing acrobatics above me.Clachaig20/06/2023
Found it easier to park at village hall. Bridleway then followed field boundary. Easy pleasent walk with Jonathantrimarc228/12/2022
Parked at Covington village hall, near church. rOW, then field boundary.PGCE15/08/2022
Good track up field edgeGordonAdshead09/07/2022
From water tower. Tore my hair out trying to match the summit picture to the ground. Walked all around the farm and onto the old bank (vegetation recently cleared). Assume the green triangle denotes the new summit so could have saved myself some hassle.Wycombe Wanderer16/09/2021
Nowhere obvious to park near the water tower, so parked in Covington and took the bridleway past the farm and then another a short way down the edge of the field.Wheelsy01/08/2021
Left my bike at the water tower and then walked down the side of the field. Damp and grey and muddy.pclyndes20/06/2021
A bright, windy evening on the Huntingdon plateau. Made my way East from the church in Hargrave. Approaching the summit I saw someone in a tractor and thought I might be on the non-public side of the hedgerow, so ran the last part to make sure I got there.edmundjohnson25/09/2020
SOLO. Overnighted in Sheringham and set off on a quest to bag some of the hills in Jonny Muir's book. This was number 5. Started at Three Shire House and the water tower. Explored several areas which looked to be the highest point close to farm buildings based on the photo. On return headed toward the houses and and took a diversion into the churchyard whilst looking for a different route back to the car. Was also a nice view from a bench by the side of the field as I followed the path back to B645.Buck08/08/2020
With E. Raining. Parked at Covington village hall and followed bridleway to Windy Barn Farm then over to hedge at field boundary. Cows seemed pleased to have company on such a wet day. Return same route.Beeliner28/07/2019
Evening walk from Covingtonkjg10606/04/2019
Simple walk along public bridleway by field edges, from Hargrave. Solo.Dangerous Dave09/03/2019
Tried to follow a different route back to Covington on footpaths marked on map but footpath signs removed and pathways blocked off.Janie26/02/2019
Revisit for new summit on sunny morning. Previous visit:- Summit is allegedly on the old railway embankment. Gentle walk up from Covington after checking out the church and its bench mark. 30/08/2016Dugswell225/02/2019
Visited this hill with jonglew/my grandad and our handy GPSwilliamglew02/01/2019

Visited early afternoon, in cold showery weather. Couldn’t find the remains of railway bridge or embankment. Lady from nearby small house informed us that it had been recently demolished. The highest ground seemed to be a corner in the track just before reaching farmyard and junction with another path from West. This spot also matched the grid reference.Hills19/11/2018
Parked at village hall, walked along track to barn, stood on slightly higher patch of ground, walked back. Very exciting walk....Nick30/09/2018
Circular anti clockwise walk from near Covington Lodge. Went to original HP near track, but fortunately went over new HP on my return route.PeterD19/09/2018
Start of bw is well concealed next to keypad operated gate. Along bw attended by 40 calves and a large black horse in their midst. Got other side of electric fence just to be sure I was safe.Campbell Singer01/07/2018

Parked in village hall car park then a straightforward nocturnal walk along the track and up on to the bank by the dairy.Herbert Anchovy05/02/2018
Parked at end of a farmers track in villages walked up to the summit which apparently a old railway embankment but now apart of a farmjmistry8606/01/2018
Nearly dark on arrival so not as boring as it might have been...Aye Jimmy09/10/2017
From the church at Covington on RoW. Went up onto top of bank, quite substantially vegetated and has a large circular plastic water tank. ***21 Dec 2018 - summit was moved 3 days ago, have unticked the 'summited' box. Revist required. ***Revisited 2 Jan 2019 with grandson No1. Easy bag along RoW. Diverted into field to east through hedgerow.jonglew03/07/2017
at the corner of the bridleway there are the partial remains of an old railbridge in the tiny wooded area. Top either in there or just north on the ground outside it, depending whether you think the railbridge counts or not. As Melbow parked at village hall just before the church and took path through gate to left of farm. After how long do man made earthworks become permanent landscape?mart079702/02/2016
Visited from Fairy's Lodge Farm where we were staying.lozinworcester06/12/2015
Pre-dawn stillness disturbed only by near-by sounds of Country & Western Music - I guess the farmer was up and tending to his herd. There has been a lot of money spent here - brand new barns, new fencing, upgraded access road. Was joined at both 'summits' by a friendly farm catM3WDD22/11/2015
28/06/2020 My second visit to this non descript top due to summit relocation, originally reached on 21/08/2015.WAYNE ROWLETT21/08/2015
On way to Bournemaltose14/08/2015
Picked off on drive to Derby leaving A14 at jcn 16. Parked in entrance way to Three Shire Water Tower which turned out to be a trig IS to bag as well. Walked 0.65 miles north up bridleway to high point in clump of trees to west of Windy Barn Farm. Then walked back along same route. Not an inspirational summit but it is on the list and hs to be done.mntainman01/06/2015

Also climbed the railway embankment, just to be sure!DanMaisieBex30/05/2015
About 15 minutes from Covington. Clearly a railway embankment but not much sign of a railway elsewhere.Newton Maximus30/05/2014
County top no.7 Parked in Greyhound car park and walked from Catworth with Dorothy. Big open skies (not much landscape to get in the way).callumorr18/02/2014
Parking near church not really an option on a Sunday so parked our campervan in a small layby at TL 058 703. Walked through lovely village of Covington then north west along track to farm. High point is in clump of trees just before farm buildings. Returned south along bridleway to Three Shires House (unimpressive) then back to campervan along busy B645.PoolieDave01/09/2013
Nice evening stroll- circular from Covington to summit, to water tower and back via road.Chester13/08/2013
Summit is allegedly on the old railway embankment. That's what the farmer told me who is also concerned about health and safety issues with people clambering near the badger setts.bolton04/04/2013
Parked on the roadside near Three Shires House – Followed the track N. along the boundary between Northamptonshire and Huntingdonshire - Turned E. along RoW to the remains of the bridge and adjoining ramps which were used to cross the old Kettering to Huntingdon railway. (PM)gerrybowes04/04/2013
Flat field within Bottom Farm. I was privileged to visit (after harvest) with the farmer's permission. He calls the field "Bush Ground". Other high points close by are manmadeAlexanderHoward22/09/2012
Top no.11. Bus to Souldrop turn (on A6) via Bedford, then walked to Boring Field via Three Shires Way, and on to Raunds for the bus back home. An interesting walk through the medieval village of Yelden with its church and Motte & Bailey castle on a warm and mainly sunny day. Distance 13.6 miles; climb 454 feet; time 4.4 hoursalan.65to7030/07/2012
Parked at roadhead by church. Quiet. Had to pass metal gate to gain FP / track out to high point. Jogging relieved the boredom! Agree path junction b4 aged railway bank a better high spot but apparently such structures like cuttings count. Impressive nettle growth this year!nordicstar25/07/2012
Easy parking Covington. Wouldn't call the walk strenuous. Last 15m messy as its up the bank and its overgrown and lots of - I think - badger holes. Kimbolton worth a visit if time to fill.destaylor20/07/2012
Surely not in a field but in rather a short stretch of overgrown old country lane thats a few feet above the surrounding land. Boring - yes, unless no slopes are sought. PJHBHMC30/06/2012
Went up from Cross Lane. Very doubtful that the top is a man made pile of soil full of badgers, nettles and flies. In germs of natural top I favour the paths cross roads immediately adjacent. Locals are stranger twitchy and I was stopped to ask what I was up to.simon and co21/05/2012
Ben and Marie. Wet and windy day on day back from Brum. Walk up from Covington, high point seemed to be on mound by farm. Took refuge in Pheasant at Keyston and dried out with bar snacks and beer.mcf15/04/2012

This was a struggle. Got to Covington using a TomTom & no map only to realise my Garmin 101 had suffered mortal injury and was stuck on N S coords and all I had was OS coorords on paper. Time to phone a friend.Father Ted14/04/2008
not that bad compared to some county/ua tops, at least you have to get out the car and walk,asbown15/02/2008
I agree with the name, especially as it rained pesistantly all the way. Walked over from the church in the village, highest point on path.rhalstead30/05/2007
Its tops like this that bring the game into disrepute I think I would climb more going up to the loftRhayader_wander02/04/2007
Path seems to have been diverted to left of houses and IT IS a muddy and boring field!signyred03/01/2007
"Boring Field" is an unfair namejonnymuir16/06/2006
Boring Field lives up to its name. We actually felt the highest point was on a ramp near the house to the north east of the "official" high point. This ramp is less boring than the surrounding field.wheresthepath12/02/2005
yes-it is boring--but I prefer "Three Shire House" as a title!!Jimmy05/05/2004
Done in the dark after driving from Cold Overton Park, So I am not a fair judge of what might be higher.garyhoney08/02/2004
