Parked at the Wilderswood car park to the SSW - best access road is from the SE. There is some additional parking higher up the dirt road, where the fp begins. After the fp it's a long walk up the tarmac mast access road to the mast area for both the boundary and trig main hp. Returned over Two Lads. Cold but sunny in the late afternoon. Parked at Wilderswood on Georges lane and walked up where I found a closer parking area just before the barrier on the access road up Winter hill First visiting the trig. One hour thirty for the four and half miles, the Bolton UA top on the boundary is behind the mast in front of you on the bend of the access road as if returning from the trig.WAYNE ROWLETT05/07/2020

Midday, 6 degrees, sunny, SE breeze at Hordern Stoops. Relatively dry underfoot but managed to plunge my foot into a bog. Surprisingly mountain-like climb and surprisingly peaceful. On to Spitlers Edge.Wycombe Wanderer11/04/2019

On own. Pleasant autumn morning. From Wilderswood car park. Easy walk up metalled road to transmitter towers then over muddy ground to summit although it seems similar height for several metres in all directions. Also to Winter Hill trig point.Beeliner19/10/2018

Parked near The Barn cafe and walked up through Rivington terraced gardens to Rivington Pike then 'on the needle' through drizzle and thick clag to the summit. Walked past all the masts sites then back to the boundary point (county top) before retracing our steps. Cloud lifted a bit on the descent. With LF.Skip16/09/2018
Many Ascents over many years, mostly covered in a six mile training run.Shutterlag28/05/2018
Entered the postcode for what I thought was Horden Stoops into the satnav... things didn't look quite as expected for the last few miles, turns out it had led me up the access road to the TV station instead... both tops visited within a few minutes!the_adam21/04/2018

As others via Hordern Stoops again and up an icy path. Good training for skiing next week. I recall that ther were 6 masts the last time I was up. Now 8 making it a contender for Britain's most bespoiled top. A real mess so look outwards for huge views and forget the desecration.Campbell Singer26/02/2018
En-route Yorks to South Wales. From the N parking at Hordern Stoops. Bleak with ankle deep snow, wind and rain aplenty, and cloud down. No-one else up here.jonglew29/12/2017
A boundary after 3 tumps, alighting from the Bus in Aspull I climbed Haigh Hill, Blackrod then Roscowe Lowe Hill, visiting the community hall (previous church) in Rivington for coffee and cake (in order to charge my camera battery) before proceeding up the Terraced paths to Rivington Pike then taking a sludgy track through the 1st Transmission mast compound then on the aptly named Transmitter road, deciding it was easier to do that and then visit the boundary as an out and back walk. Point visited was in deep snow but I did plot the exact grid ref given. Larger cairn also not far away or was this supposed to be the boundary, visited that too! Quite a few families drive up to the top to play snowball fights! Back onto the transmitter road, heading for the Trig point.Dazingdale25/11/2017
On the way down from the top. Placed a small stone on what seemed the highest (and dryest) point.Andrew Pearson02/11/2017
Solo. Parked at Wallsuches, Horwich on a rough road by Curley's Restaurant (SD 65840 11437). Walked past a better car park on Georges Lane! No obvious summit, so I wandered across all the likely candidates. Returned over Two Lads summit.ADT10/10/2017
