Parked in Kingsway Road and then missed the path with the rock so ended up within the reservoir area and did not fancy climbing the pointy metal security fence. Back to main road and took field edge instead. Crossed another field and made our way to wild summit area.Crumblie221/03/2024

As others, parked on Kingsway Road & along gravel track to the obvious gap in security fence. As mentioned by Moorponder, area was massively overgrown so continued another 20m to start of a motorbike track just beyond high point of gravel path - N. along bike track for about 90m & then took right fork along a fainter path to within 30m or so of the high point; this appears to lie by a large rounded bush & patch of bramble.gerrybowes09/07/2023
Parked in Kingsway. Followedgravel path like others. Don't take the first obvious path (near the fence) it heads up the right of the hedge and much overgrown with nettles & the crop (rape). They merge higher up anyway. The second obvious path just short of the pylons is grassy all the way to the summit thicket.Moorponder05/06/2023
Followed Wheelsy Easy to follow route, unexpected views, worth a visit on a clear daymatty1971b06/04/2023

Parked in Kingsway Road. Popular dog walking area for locals. Track by large boulder goes past the fenced off reservoir. Take the track north over rough wild ground to the high point. Much easier than I was expecting. Solo.Dangerous Dave02/01/2022
Parked in the first street off Kentucky road and walked back up road to the path that takes you to the rough ground where the top can be found.WAYNE ROWLETT14/10/2021

Parked at very start of Kingsway Road, then across road and along good gravelly path not shown on the OS map which follows the line of the pylons. Once past the reservoir there is a gap where the security fencing has collapsed - passed through this and into stubbly field. Track into grassy/scrubby land led to impenetrable mass of brambles marking HP. Back the same way.Wheelsy27/08/2021

Parked in residential Kingsway road, went west across main road, followed tarmac track around s then w side of reservoir enclosure, then through a broken fence, around field edge, to large mass of bramble, in which we thrashed. Great urban views of twinkling lights under a crescent moon.Denise 17/12/2020
Exactly as Moorsman's excellent parking suggestion and route. Summit is in an impenetrable tangle of dense brambles which we made at least some of the way into. Levelish. Dark.RichardM17/12/2020
Dedicated roadside parking down Kingsway Road (SR5 4BY). Cross main road and walk 20m right. An excellent stone path leads right up to the col. When you reach it look right and see that the security fencing has been broken. Pass through the gap and follow the field edge. Cross into the next field on the left via a track and the summit mound is visible on your left.moorsman05/09/2020
Round field edges from the east.vegibagger22/05/2020

Started to head downhill towards marked summit location when realised entry was only 6 figure estimate. Various candidates for highpoint within 90m contour ring west of disused quarry. Highest point looked to be amongst bramblesmntainman10/12/2019
Room for 1 car roadside at NZ 3533 6005. Followed compound fencing along S side to NZ 35121 60016, then took a near enough direct line to the HP - not an obvious one; got it as NZ 35017 60199, but very subjective.jonglew31/08/2019
3 of 3 on 33 mile bike ride from ashington to sunderland. Came off the road to the west called downhill lane and over fence. Up through steep cutting to summit. Great viewsThe-Z-Man01/08/2019

AJ's route, which begins just south of the Sunderland sign on Hylton Lane. Large boulders guard the gravel track. A few scratches and nettle stings incurred whilst trying to find the marginally highest point by the light of a rather good sunset.Nick Down117/10/2017
