Parked in Tattersall Gardens, up to junction, turned left & along London Road to the 'Welcome to the City of Southend-on-Sea' sign, a cast iron boundary post & a burnt oak enclosure.gerrybowes21/06/2023
Took the train to Southend Central, walked along pier, then along seafront to Leigh-on-Sea station before heading uphill to this county point. Had planned on also doing Heath mount, but tired legs and oncoming dark changed our minds. Bus from top back into town where there was a tour of illuminated exhibits.catie18/02/2023

Tattersall Gardens for parking. Walked back onto London Road and tried to look purposeful. London Road has some strange suburban architecture. Not my cup of tea but interesting.Campbell Singer22/02/2018

A whistle-stop bag en route to Stansted. Parked in Tattershall Gardens, admired the budding daffodils by the Welcome to Southend sign and ascended the summit.Nick Down103/03/2017
This bag was harder than it should have been because it was the Friday night rush hour. The roads, including the side roads were mayhem and the commuters don't like people who don't know what they are doing! Got there eventually but then dived into a nearby Indian restaurant for an early tea and let the traffic die down. The commuters of Southend were probably pleased at that decision.Father Ted02/09/2016

Cast iron marker post says Rochford and Southend Boroughs 1913: hedge S side of road in line with this agrees with boundary as marked on OpenStreetMap on GPS. Between modern Southend and Hadleigh signs.RHW25/01/2015
Parked in Tattersall Gardens. Admired the 'great Oak' remains.Newton Maximus19/11/2014
Really easy one this , parked in Alma Road . Quick walk back to this boundary sign . Very busy road so didn't hang about too long !Haygalzer11/04/2014
Easy parking in nearby side streets. Whether it is worth stopping for is another matter. Sign is Welcome to Leigh-on-Sea, not Southend. Nothing else of interest on this flat boring and noisy road. Long day bagging unitary and London Borough tops, so no time for a visit to seaside despite the hot weather.Hillsidenick21/07/2013
Down in Essex for a wedding so we didn't miss the opportunity to get a few tops in even if they were mostly drive byes. First of 8 today.heavyhorses04/05/2013
Not worth getting out of the car for! Now Hadleigh Castle just a bit farther SW is a different story - fine views from there.signyred22/07/2011
Leigh-on-Sea to Hockley stations. Good river views from top of the ancient cliff line, but not much else to recommend. The "Burnt Oak": According to the plate - marked the boundary of Lord Southchurch's (?) Estate in C19th.Smudge16/01/2011
This and Heath mount in 5 minutes, this abit higher om my gps but it's not good on height at the best of times.asbown08/10/2009

GPS showed same height as Heath Mount - must have grown since Simon visited! Near something called the Burnt Oak, but couldn't work out what it was all about. Good views across Thames estuary just a few paces to the west.wheresthepath22/08/2005
