Continued after Warden Law.
Right then left, through the riding centre then follow track and field boundary after centre to summit.
Visited just in case reverts back to UAC top. | mntainman | 15/11/2021 |
Easier than it first looks as there is a broad grassy margin round the fields. However - we spoke to men from the clay pigeon shooting club who informed us that the area is dangerous because of shooting activity, including rifle shooting. You have been warned! | Wycombe Wanderer | 29/08/2021 |
Verge parking (NZ 3638 5122). As others, followed curving field boundary to top. HP near shipping containers. | jonglew | 31/08/2019 |
As others, up the side of the field. Starts underneath the bigger of the two sets of electricity pylons. Easy, except for having to loiter for 40 minutes for the clay pigeon shooting to finish. | PGCE | 24/07/2019 |
Parked in lay-by and ran up the edge of the field. | madaddo | 28/09/2018 |
Parked on grass verge. Took the wide pasture edge round the field edge to the top. | Campbell Singer | 22/05/2018 |
AJ's route to the rough ground and thistles at the summit by the metal sheds. The HP in the copse behind the sheds seemed to be as high. | Nick Down1 | 22/02/2018 |
A little circle- wound my way up the wrong field edge and cam down the filed with the wide margin | Mark Sims | 10/05/2017 |
From the north, followed field edge all the way, no problem with thistles. HP in arable field. | PeterD | 09/04/2017 |
Easier access than expected (from layby just past farm entrance), but not the most pleasant walking today - towards the top of the field it was mostly tall thistles! | the_adam | 25/10/2016 |
From N - 10m wide field margins snake to top. | jimbloomer | 30/07/2016 |
11/11 Last of eleven (Thorpe Larches/Whelly Hill/Dere Street/Pentoop Pike/Currock Hill/Westerhope/Camperdown/Whittingdon Fell/Whitingdon Hill/Sherrif Hill/The Moors) | Fergalh | 26/06/2016 |
From north. Curving field edge to green metal containers. Think they are something to do with clay pigeon shooting. Direct line back as no crops in field. | ngthack | 25/02/2016 |
By field edge to rough thistle area to HP near large metal haulage container with rape seed crop nearby. Lost GPS (had it since 2006). | arranc | 24/06/2015 |
Easy up from the road. | simon and co | 21/05/2015 |
As AJ. Steady climb up field edge. Seemed most likely high point to me. | GordonAdshead | 11/03/2015 |
From N, followed curving field edge round past pylon and up to near metal sheds on top. Summit maybe about 15m out into cabbage(?) field. | Aye Jimmy | 30/12/2014 |
From parking by gate at North on main road. The wood is a sparse copse. Easily up side of this and break out onto hill over rough unploughed ground to summit. | nordicstar | 11/12/2014 |
From Houghton-Le-Spring via the B1404 (this is a bus route), then up the private road to the farm. You'll have to do some field trespass in order to get this one - thick fog helped me to bag the top without being spotted. | Richard | 15/09/2014 |
Parked on the minor road to the north then walked across a stubble field then field edge to summit. | Dugswell2 | 31/08/2014 |
Grim grim grim. Easily reached from paking opposite karting centre on public footpath | mcbiydw2 | 26/03/2014 |
When visited the field and the summit were under crops. Decided to get as close as possible without damaging any produce. | moorsman | 18/08/2013 |
Parked near the karting centre to the south east and approached via Warden Law. Farm dogs not very welcoming. | Newton Maximus | 20/03/2013 |
Probably best from just near the power lines to the N. Wide field edges. Absolute summit may be under crops but at field edge maybe 20m away to N you are easily higher. | destaylor | 23/06/2012 |
Clem bagging. From north, field edges under power lines. I spied what looked like higher land east at Warden Law karting centre so drove round there and followed path up onto bank. Hard to say which is higher. | Chris Pearson | 06/05/2012 |
No sign of spoilheap so I decided the trees were the top. | Nick | 22/06/2011 |
Up from the road to the east across fields of winter wheat. The ridge before the grid ref seemed the highest point to me or maybe it was near the trees a bit further on. All much of a muchness, unlike Hartlepool's top! | signyred | 28/02/2011 |
Would agree with Ted that the spoil heap very close to were the trigpoint use to stand is higher than the given grid ref,no problems walking over to check the other grid ref,for what it's worth the GPS shows over 20 feet difference. | asbown | 14/03/2009 |
Parked at entrance to farm and walked south down bridleway to Warden Law, a spoil heap, first and realised that this was higher than given grid refs so took this as being county top. Fields were being ploughed and sewn so did not fancy hassle. | Father Ted | 16/10/2008 |
Drove along track and parked at farm then walked round edge of fields to top was followed all the way by a nice labrador dog who wanted to play fetch. | chris creedy | 29/09/2007 |
Can park on verge at NZ 362 513. High point in SW corner of huge, bizarre-shaped field - can access through plentiful gaps in hedge. As dull as the rest of the tops in the area. | wheresthepath | 08/07/2006 |
edge of arable field, wide unexciting +/- urban view, accessed at night. e.g. from rd/gateway to NW | RHW | 17/11/2002 |
