City of London run - 12 miles - to bag high point at the edge of Boundary Road and St. John's Wood. Tarmac. | PhilipChaston | 05/02/2019 |
Early Saturday morning; little traffic & easy, though very limited parking at the end of Boundary Road where it joins St John's Wood Park. Walked up Boundary Road to the junction with The Marlowes as this certainly appears to be the high point. (S) | gerrybowes | 19/01/2019 |
From Swiss Cottage to this road junction where the Boundary Road has City of Westminister on the southern side and Hampstead | ChinnockC | 20/10/2018 |
Detour on walk to buy a sink plug and get a key cut - hardly the heaviest load to carry on the mile walk back. | Chris Pearson | 02/08/2018 |
Better than watching paint dry. A 2hr circular walk between stints of painting windows and to escape the nauseating smell of wet paint. Fascinating rich area of posh town houses , but all with security grills at windows - so prisoners of their own success?
One typical house had spotless white rolls and silver bentley parked out front. Also summited nearby Primrose Hill (not quite a Tump) - a great open area offering fab views to the city over Regants Park -thick with morning joggers and people working out in the outdoor gym. Investigated a new rocky mountain peak spied below - artificially made inside nearby London Zoo- in the animals from Australia enclosure! | Chris Pearson | 01/08/2018 |
Quiet road. Drive and park. Very posh area. | Campbell Singer | 01/07/2018 |
With Evan. Had a well-earned pint at Swiss Cottage afterwards! | Dangerous Dave | 22/04/2018 |
Holloway station to South Hampstead via four London Borough tops. | PGCE | 13/04/2018 |
Extending a walk over Hampstead Heath | jedthehumanoid | 07/03/2018 |
Had a wander round the summit on the way to an event at Lord's. Reckon the actual top is the base of the Plane tree or perhaps even the junction of Boundary Rd and The Marlowes. Took in the Abbey Rd zebra crossing for good measure. | summitter | 29/11/2017 |
Parked at flats off main road. | alwaysinshorts | 28/06/2017 |
Parked roadside on St Johns Wood Park and had a stroll to admire the houses. All flat, unable to pick out a high point. | jonglew | 06/02/2017 |
A pleasant circuit from St John's Wood tube: Acacia Road, Ordnance Hill, St John's Wood Park Road, Boundary Road, Finchley Road. Marlowes gets my vote, too. | Nick Down1 | 25/01/2017 |
Run from hotel near Barbican. | stever | 10/10/2016 |
3/12 In London for weekend so did some Borough Bagging Third of Twelve (College Park/Harrow Road/St Johns Wood Park/Seven Sisters Road/Bethnal Green/Whitechappel/Shooters Hill/Langdan Shaw (Sidcup)/Sydenham Hill/Weston Hill/Sansterstead Plantation/Clock House) | Fergalh | 01/10/2016 |
The last of the morning. From St John's Wood station north along the Finchley Road and down Queen's Walk to St John's Wood Park and thence to Boundary Road. It was obvious from the bottom of Boundary Road that the high point was somewhere around The Marlowes junction. Once again difficult to be absolutely precise. | Sixtyplus | 04/08/2016 |
TD, C & H by mobile kennel. | This Dog | 27/03/2016 |
Nice stroll from Swiss Cottage to a meeting in central London in the sun via this summit. Agree with others that Marlowes seems higher so did both. | assynt_bob | 22/03/2016 |
Agree junction with Marlowes seems highest. Also walked to Abbey Road crossing -sad really. | catman | 11/11/2015 |
South side of Boundary road is in City of Westminster, North side in Camden. Junction with Marlowes appears to be highest point. Had time to spare after meeting before catching train from Paddington, also walked along Abbey Road to that Zebra crossing. | PeterD | 15/09/2015 |
7th of 9 London Borough Tops - linked up through a combination of walking and Tube. Not much else to report! | mcallmar | 11/09/2015 |
Seems to be at end of the block paved drive to me. It's all debatable as both pavement and block-paved drive are man made. | clivevilla | 20/05/2015 |
More Aston Martins and Bentleys seen than on the average peak bagging trip. Worth combining with a walk across the most famous zebra crossing in the world outside the nearby Abbey Road studios -join the hordes stopping traffic for posed photos in Fab 4 line up and to read the graffiti tribute wall. On nearby Ordnance Road is the former St John's Wood Barracks which until 2012 served as HQ for the Royal Horse Artillery. Acquired for £250m by Ananda Krishnan, one of the richest businessmen in Asia, for residential development. | Chris Pearson | 26/04/2015 |
One of 3 London tops today. If you can call them tops. | Andrew Pearson | 21/02/2015 |
On trip to London to see 'Billy Elliot'. Also went to the zoo after bagging this one. | DanHolme | 09/02/2015 |
Finsbury Park, Parkland Walk, Highgate Hill, Highgate, Kenwood House, Hampstead Heath, Swiss Cottage. 5 hours walking and rather tiring, good clear but cold weather. | Nick | 27/01/2015 |
Hilarious this is a hill | Fionalevey | 24/12/2014 |
Nice 2hr walk from St John's Wood to Archway over 4 county tops. Unremarkable top | Mark Jackson | 17/11/2014 |
On the way home from Brent | squeegs | 15/09/2013 |
The 5th and final top done today. Not as pretty as the first four, but still had a cinema close by so stopped to watch a film. | steverd | 09/06/2013 |
12th of 12 LBTs today. Another flat boring top.
Spent far more time on trains and underground than walking today. None of 12 were really worth the effort, but at least that is 12 more tops I'll never have to visit in the future! | Hillsidenick | 14/05/2013 |
Last of four this evening following Highgate pair and Hampstead. Long walk down Fitzjohns Avenue to Swiss cottage and St. John's Wood Park / Boundary road junction. Another road but quiet district. Tube away from Swiss Cottage. Good circuit of nr two hrs. | nordicstar | 19/03/2013 |
A nondescript London top :-(
(Just taking advantange of London Midland Railways Great Escape...London for £15 !) | heavyhorses | 23/02/2013 |
Visited With Darren while trying to visit all the high points on London in one day. | magirob | 10/01/2013 |
Now this really is a dull one! High point is on the block paved drive by the garage of the adjacent house. | simon and co | 06/09/2012 |
very easy stroll from South Hampstead station in the dark. Lots of Christmas lights in the nearby trees. | wheresthepath | 29/12/2011 |
Fifteen of London borough tops in 14 hours by bike from Kew. St John's was the first one after 50 minutes on bike. Yest there is a slight high point here. | NilsOS | 09/10/2010 |
Days bagging | BazWylie | 03/08/2010 |
Primrose Hill would make a much better top. | Overthehilljill | 15/10/2009 |
