7 of 13. From Wimbledon station on the District line and using the rail service to Ashtead.WAYNE ROWLETT06/08/2023

Wandered across the fields from the forest after the clay shooters had gone home. Muddy and uninspiring.Nick05/02/2022
Up from Prince's Coverts - no shooting so had time to walk around the compound.garyhoney21/03/2021
On a lockdown hike from MicklehamPhilipChaston31/01/2021
Cycled from Battersea on a 52 km round trip. Nice views both north and south once you’d dodged the fence.Rockdoctor24/05/2020
An early start, a quick dash to remote SE London. Absolutely no inclination to climb over the fence, if this is as close to the summit as you can get then that's fine by me!pclyndes17/05/2020
Bus 465 to the Star, then back to Chessington South via Telegraph Hill. I outflanked the blue gates - thanks, Jonglew - then walked round the perimeter fence, along the edge of the clay pigeon range, with only rabbits for company in the evening. The hill seems to be the intersection of a N-S ridge with an even gentler western spur, so there seemed little difference between the highest accessible points on the N,W and S sides.Nick Down125/06/2019
Parked at the pub. Failed at first attempt (Sunday morning) due to clay pigeon shooters. Returned later (6pm) and all quiet. Ground seems highest on northern side of compound. Scaffold tower on west side of compound gives good views towards the City.PGCE14/04/2019
Walked from Ashtead station across the rather muddy Ashtead Common. Reservoir surrounded by security fence, ground on E side looks highest accessible point.Mark Jackson23/02/2019
From SW. Parked on The AvenueJanko27/08/2018
Held up on M25 as two caravans had got in a tangle with each other closing three lanes. Parked next to blue gates which were easily climbed. Then walked round the compound. Less than satisfying.Campbell Singer05/08/2018
Parked at pub, walked up road to outer blue gates which were easily circumnavigated without climbing over anything. Walked around reservoir compound to HP outside compound.PeterD09/10/2017
Claimed whilst on a circular walk from Chessington South station via Ashtead Common (and another coal post). The blue gates were firmly shut as ever so I had a coffee at the Star and then up onto D'Abernon Chase and to the back of the reservoir. I felt that looking across a few yards of the clay pigeon shooting range was sufficient for me. I did get shouted at but already had the picture. Close enough for yet another reservoir top. Not a situation calling for pedantry.Sixtyplus12/06/2017
5/5 In London for weekend so did some Borough Bagging Last of Five (Lauriston Road/Wimbledon Common/Putney Heath/Richmond Park/Telegraph Hill)Fergalh02/10/2016
TD,C & H by mobile kennel. Refreshments in the Star after.This Dog25/03/2016
Roadside parking at outer (blue) gates. Hopped over them and approached the more substantial security fencing with CCTV camera, which I declined to attempt. Walked the perimeter of the compound. Not sure there is any higher natural ground inside. The 90m summit would seem to be atop the covered resr. Highest point outwith the fencing seemed to be at centre of NE side, at TQ 16677 60392.jonglew29/12/2015
Parked at pub, then up track to clay pigeon shooting ground. Nobody blasting away & spoke to two nice guys who let me cross the ground to the res. compound. Last of six London high points & a Marilyn today. Not true what they say about Londoners - found everybody very friendly.ngthack12/12/2015
1 of 6 LBT's visited today by car.mcallmar24/09/2015
Late at night - @ 11pm Did not try to climb locked gate at road due to warning signs, and tales of an impenetrable inner fenced compound and security cameras. If you do make it over, best to check carefully first you are at the right gate and not climbing into the gorilla, tiger or rhino enclosure a mile away at Chessington, which would probably spice up a visit here.Chris Pearson18/06/2015
Fenced off as described by others so settled for highest point outside the fence. Shame it can't be claimed.ijpowell24/10/2014
Space to park outside the notorious gate and get out of car. All this very missable top deserves.simon and co27/01/2014
There are good hills, bad hills and then there are Borough tops! Parked in pub car park and walked back up the main road (very difficult to cross as so busy). Impregnable with fences and security cameras. Walked a bit further up the road north from the gate to find the highest point not on private land.Hillsidenick28/04/2013
Visited With Darren while trying to visit all the high points on London in one day.magirob10/01/2013
En route to Weybridge after work, popped down past Esher past Malden Rushett to be similarly confronted by gates. Took advice and went no further. Might come back in winter in daylight to mooch about but suspect w/out friendly water board man, that's your lot!nordicstar23/10/2012
Got as close as I could with a huge padlocked gate and security cameras. The summit is only possible by employees of the water board. Is the high level of security due to this being something other than a water board site? An MI6 installation???JohnStoneham15/04/2012
No summits last week as my bicycle was stolen. This week a new attempt with new bicycle. 1 hour 10 minutes biking trip from Kew. A solid fenced of gate stood in the way for the ultimate summit of the protected area. Got dark on the return and took the rouNilsOS29/09/2010
Tried from SE and SW, but no go. Got as close as we could.wheresthepath21/02/2010
You'd have to be an employee of the water board to get to the top of this - it's completely fenced off. I wandered around a bit accumulating scratches.Richard19/08/2009
This one is so inaccessible you wonder what they are hiding behind the fence.Overthehilljill18/01/2009
Pleasant from Ashtead grassed paths. 160m to the east of the top there is a seriously locked gate, Danger! Walk South go through undergrowth (no fences.) Security camera - can get 60m away to the North in field. Ruined the walk.destaylor28/07/2008
Top inaccessable.Dugswell210/10/2007
Fence not so pointy in those days IIRC.RHW15/03/2003
