From Grizedales. East on Dales High Way through gate, then over broken wall after 200m. | KeithByTheC | 01/01/2024 |
This was my third and final summit of the day. I was in the area watching my DofE students on the long day of their gold practice. I'd watched the first group through so headed up here as it wasn't far off the path. I could see them resting whilst at the summit. Then dropped back and waited for the other group. A nice summit up here. | meltdiceburg | 29/05/2023 |
Solo, from Greenfoot P & D car park in Settle (£2.30). Grizedales, Kirkby Fell and Rye Loaf Hill. Accessed Kirkby Fell via a wall stile at SD 87448 63877. Used a metal gate at SD 86809 63852 to access Rye Loaf Hill.
Some of the grid refs quoted below were gaps in dry stone walls, which have been repaired. | ADT | 13/05/2023 |

Settle, over High Hill and up bridleway to highpoint, crossed wall at stone stile SD874639, up vague path to summit. Then on to Ryeloaf Hill, back to bridleway at SD868639. Then down Stocks lane, across road to Lambert Lane and up to Hunter Bark. | Flatfield | 12/05/2022 |
Ascended after Rye Loaf Hill and Grizedales from Langscar Gate. There is a convenient gate through the wall just below the path junction at the north east corner. There was a Silva compass and attached whistle left on the rocks at the summit. I left them there as they probably dropped out of somebody's pocket. | JohnW | 27/04/2022 |

From the Parking area used for Malham tarn which has an honesty box, just under Severn miles in Two and three quarter hours. Using the Pennine way and then first up to Grizedales and then onto Kirkby fell and Rye loaf hill. To get to the last two hills there were walls in the way so had to look for holes to gain access | WAYNE ROWLETT | 24/05/2020 |

4th hill of 6 today on a 29km route from Settle to Malham, climbing High Hill,Rye Loaf Hill and Grizedales, descending SE over a wall to then climb direct to the outcrop with the depression behind it. I headed Ene then SE to eventually drop onto a footpath heading all the way into Malham via the Barns where I had a cappuccino and lentil soup in a Yurt before checking in at the YHA and then continuing on a two tump loop to reach Weets top and Malham Moor. | Dazingdale | 24/03/2018 |
From Rye Loaf Hill followed the wall back towards the Dales High Way. Before reaching the path we found a place where the wall was easy to climb over. From there, ascended to the summit. From the summit we descended towards the Dales Way, where another gate gave access to the Dales High Way. Followed this to Langscar Gate. With JT. | Sprog | 19/11/2017 |

High Hill -> Warrendale Knotts -> Grizedales -> Kirkby Fell -> Rye Loaf Hill, parking at roadside 837629. Cold and foggy, but at least the bogs were partly frozen over at the top! Planned to park up by Stockdale farm as others and do it as 2 shorter walks - note that there are private road/no vehicles signs at the start of Stockdale Lane. It's a very good parking spot up there for anyone braver than me though :) | the_adam | 21/01/2017 |
From Grizedales. There is a stile on the west side of the wall at 874638. With GB. | bolton | 18/01/2017 |
Parked in old quarry on Stockdale Lane at 852638 (Space for 2 cars) - After ascent of Grizedales, continued E. along Pennine Bridleway before dropping down W. side of wall to gate/stile in corner at 874638 - A short walk to unmarked summit. Continued to Rye Loaf Hill. (PM) | gerrybowes | 18/01/2017 |
From North. Heavy going underfoot. One electric fence to negotiate. With Fiona | trimarc2 | 29/11/2016 |
Apart from views to the Yorkshire 3 peaks covered in snow, this summit is pretty dull. TERRIBLE ground underfoot on the ascent. With DTL on day trip from London using trains. | Fionalevey | 29/11/2016 |

Up from Langscar Gate through cows(as usual hereabouts),past Nappa Cross and over stile next to gate in wall corner.Good views, especially from cairns to South-east. | catman | 16/02/2015 |
In cloud and drizzle all the way in a figure of eight circuit from Langscar Gate. As always, unhelpful walls and lack of stiles were encountered along with guns going off in the mist! | SS | 25/10/2014 |
From Langcliffe - good car park. High Hill, Warrendale Knotts, Rye Loaf Hill, Kirkby Fell (impossible without crossing a wall but there's a stile built into the wall south of the summit of Rye Loaf Hill, and a section of collapsed wall to the east, thus avoiding climbing a good section of wall) Grizedales, Black Hill, Langcliffe. | ijpowell | 04/09/2014 |

Verge parking (and turning) available at the end of Stockdales Lane just before the road descends to the farm. If undertaking a circular walk of the three adjacent tops it is far easier to walk up Grizdaless first. It is a gradual ascent via the Pennine bridleway rather than a steep, rough climb up Rye Loaf first! | moorsman | 30/01/2014 |
