Parked by CG (Altrava) - NJ162164 (requested not to but plenty room for one car off road). Bike on tarmac to bridge NJ163143. Continued to derelict farmhouse Wester Gaulrig. After this is short grass pasture which could have been biked if I had known that the good track continues from NJ155136 (Bailechnoic) to start of my walk at NJ149135. Track NW/SSW to fence line where SW and atv, soon becoming good trods most of way to Carn Ruabraich. Onto Carn na Ruabraich and Cnap Chaochan Aitinn. Good track back to startcarole engel14/10/2022

Up and down on the track from Queens View Car Park on a very windy day. Interesting views of the N sides of Ben Avon and Beinn a'Bhuird.benalder28410/10/2021
Walked in from the Queens View carpark. Descended via the hunting bothy, Geal Charn and down to the river. A lovely day with Neil, Gogs, Liz and Lynn.ragudave05/09/2021

From Tomintoul. Longish walk on tracks the whole way. A young golden eagle quartered the hill just below the summit. Got soaked on the way back but it didn’t dampen our spirits. With Nozzer and Ian.BigJ08/08/2021
Cnap Chaochan Aitinn by MTB from Glen AvonPeteF23/07/2021
A lengthy trek from the Queen's View carpark along the track to Cnap Chaochan Aitinn was relieved by seeing some nice woodland regen in the glen. Although very hot, extremely strong winds ironically forced us to have lunch cowering behind the summit weather station. Once we had got our breaths back and quiche consumed we almost flew over to Cnap Eas Chaorach, before having to lean into a slog back over the Graham and the ensuing heather and hag to Carn na Ruabraich. Further meteorological and vegetational punishment to Carn Ruabraich and Druim na h-Easgainn before dropping down to the sheltered Delavorar and back on-track to the camper.summitter17/07/2021
Backpacking from wild camp east of Fords of Avon, over Creag Mhor, down Glen Avon, up Glen Loin to the Graham, then out to Cock Bridge.davidpettit8401/06/2021
Wwith Rob followed SMC guidebook route. Long walk in and out. Buzzards, stoat and red squirrel.alexmaclennan10/09/2020
Cycled all the way to the summit from the parking spot near Queen Victoria viewpoint!! Great track... although we had to push at some points, due to our lack of fitness and will power!!clanbonham26/07/2020
In the end a straight up and down on the track on a very windy day. So windy that when I had to refold my map the wind first completely destroyed it and then blew the remains away never to be seen again. Careless of me to fold it wrong at the start. not confuident of rest of planned route without a map so just came back.dickscroop29/12/2019

Short walk from Cnap Eas Chaorach. Walked back to Delnabo Bridge along road via Birchfield187lenny25/08/2019
My last Marilyn in Section 8. Picked a great day; hot but with a stiff breeze to keep the flies and midges away and to keep me from overheating. The standard route from the Queen's view car park via Wester Gaulrig. Strath Avon is very lovely with many trees for shade. Splendid views once out on the hill provided that you ignore the grouse-killers' track that you're walking along.Gill23/07/2019

Overnight route from car park just to S of Tomintoul. Track along Glen Avon, climb to Liath Bheinn, Craig Veann, Carn Bad a' Ghuail, descent to Inchrory. Took track WSW then cross River Avon and climbed track over Drum Loin, then rougher ground to Cnap Chaochan Aitinn. Descent N in gathering darkness to reach track, followed to top of woodland where camped by stream. Descent to glen and start point.RobertP02/11/2018

With Dave Roeder on glorious day. From car park near Tomintoul (9:50) long walk up track to summit and back. Decoy crow in 4-compartment cage by track. Clear; great views of snowy Cairngorms and Lochnagar. End 15:50dbb21/04/2018

From the carpark for the Queen Victoria viewpoint and along an estate track through pleasant wooded hills to the open and bare slopes. Obviously a grouse shooting estate so access could be a problem in the shooting season. Impressive views of the Cairngorms from the summit.Peterb15/03/2017

Solo walk from the Glenavon car park at 164176. Twelve and a quarter miles taking four and three quarters hours. Good going on a track that was generally clear of snow from recent falls. The bulldozed road now goes just west of the summit.bolton17/02/2016
From the Queens View CP. Out along tracks w Jenx to Auchnahyle bridge, then track up past Gaulrig and into the snow and ice. Followed track as snow deepened and battled on until the summit reached. Weather station turned out to probably be a Mtn Rescue comms relay post. Back same way, whole route in just under four hours.nordicstar21/01/2016
Great wintry adventure.jenx21/01/2016
Cycled from Delnabo to Dalestie but no trace of the footbridge shown on all but the most recent maps. Back to bridge at Auchnahyle, good tracks all the way to the summit, to where I rode and pushed my bicycle. Morning temperature in Boat of Garten was -1C and I had to scrape the frost off my car. On the summit it was about +15C.Topographer5701/10/2015
