Followed Carole Engel's route to the two summit cairns and windbreak a hundred yards or so to the North. Views deep into the Cairngorms along glens Lui and Quoich. Vast slopes of heather in flower. | Nick Down1 | 11/08/2023 |

From Linn of Dee, could have parked on area on other side of Lui Water bridge, followed good track up, and then narrow path through heather to summit. Similar route back. | JasonStark | 13/11/2022 |
SMC route from Linn of Dee CP. The description in the guidebook is well out of date. The deer fence and stile at NO084908 are gone, only a gatepost remains. The fence at NO108908 is also no more. Paths all the way apart from a section between the two tops | Galltywenallt | 22/06/2022 |
Via Glen Quoich and up from the north. Descent south east down steep heather slopes back to Linn of Quoich. | Fife Walking | 19/06/2022 |
With the Stockets - a horse-shoe starting and ending at Linn of Dee, where we had a BBQ post walk. | ragudave | 18/06/2022 |

Linn of Dee carpark, up Glen Derry to bridge and up tracks to summit. Along to east top and down small path to telegraph poles, then track west to second cross track and left down to road. | Flatfield | 15/05/2022 |
Parked east of the bridge at 070899. Took the ancient path from 078900 up to 088904. Rough in early part to junction then ok. Then NW to 083908 where there is a path directly to the summit past a dead tree. Solo in relatively clear weather. 2 Hr 10 minute solo return. | bolton | 26/02/2022 |
OMC Meet at Muir Cottage, Inverey. I set off on foot with Davy Sadler from Muir Cottage, significant westerly winds from Storm Malik. We headed up Glen Lui and turned right at the Allt a' Mhadaidh to gain the high ground north of Creag Bhalg. With the wind behind us, it was impending walking. We meet the track out of Glen Quoich, which Davy took back to Linn of Dee, while I headed for the summit. Good views in all directions, descended SW to Linn of Dee. | chillyman8 | 29/01/2022 |
Park at Lee of Dee, walk north crossing the river via the bridge then turn south following the tracks to summit. superb views all round, visited with Frank and big J | Nozzer | 08/09/2021 |

Carn na Drochaide (C) and Creag Bhalg (G) from Linn of Quoich | Huwel | 28/04/2021 |
Parked at Linn of Dee Bridge and took loop around to summit and back. Drizzle, dark on last stage of descent. Grey but view from top. | Rounsfell | 27/10/2020 |
Introducing son no.1's girlfriend to camper vans and hill-walking. After a midge-invested night at Linn of Dee we took the path onto the Derry Lodge track, then struck off to Clais Fhearnaig - lovely narrow glen - into Glen Quoich and back up hill along the path through the woods to the Creag Bhalg plateau. Whilst the family munched their butties I inadvisably bog-hopped to the NW Top and its similarly high sister summit 1km to the SE, which has an interesting cairn-rock seat feature. Then blazed up the summit proper, flushing out a tawny owl en route, re-joining the path as it skirts Doire Bhraghad and drops down to Claybokie. A good wee walk, and the girlfriend is still talking to me! | summitter | 01/08/2020 |
Parked almost opposite old track at NO 0974 9009. Up track (more a path now) in NW direction until cairn marking path NE to top at NO 0842 9083 (old atv) | carole engel | 10/07/2020 |
Alone, from Linn of Dee. | Grinner | 24/11/2019 |
Climbed from Linn of Dee with wife Nicola. Went via Glen Luig to bridge over the River Dee, then back up very wet track to the heathery summit slopes, ascending very narrow trail past a lonely tree up to a cairn and then to the summit cairns. The furthest one flatter being the true summit. Returned by same route as the walk up was delightful despite some rain which eased off. The circular route as in the SMC Graham's book involving a road walk was less appealing. On way up we met two fellow Marilyn baggers Lionel and Sue Bidwell as they were descending! My 436th Marilyn and 10th Graham! | pdantic | 29/10/2019 |

From Mar Lodge, on track ascending to WNW, turning NNW, then trodden path up past a solar panel directly to summit, returned same way | kdbennett | 18/08/2019 |
From Linn of Dee car park out to bridge then up track - fence/stile mentioned in book gone but one post left and cairn indicates path more than atv. Absolutely cracking little hill with fabulous views all round. | SS | 29/07/2019 |
From Lin of Dee car park, easy stroll through lovely woodland and then moorland to summit. Dropped down to Derry Lodge track and back to cp. Golden eagle on way back. | MichaelF | 19/05/2019 |
Solo. Sunny, calm day with great viz. Parked at Culbokie. Lovely walk across zigzagging tracks then ATV tracks to summit. Fantastic views of Eastern Cairngorms, Beinn a Bhuird and Ben Avon. 1 1/2 hours. | alexmaclennan | 08/04/2019 |
From Lui Bridge, upstream a mile to the next bridge then up through Doire Bhragaid. Path all the way to top from junction of ATV tracks. We had a quick enjoy of fine views before a snow shower hit- fortunately we had the strong wind behind us as we continued to a W top, then some masts. We walked back along the service track in sunshine with fine views again. The rivers- Quoich, Lui, Dee and Ey- all looked impressive on this walk. Just right for the conditions- mountains above 3500 ft appeared as a chaotic jumble of cloud rock, snow and heavy showers today. With brother, Pete | pwheeler | 24/03/2019 |
SMMC Muir of Inverey meet. With Alan Horberry, Alan Young, Bill Bracewell, Jim Jack, Monica Rogerson + Trevor Webster. | clashcityrocker | 14/11/2018 |
A nice walk from a parking spot near a rough track that goes up to the mapped reservoir, about 300m W of Mar Lodge entrance. Along the road to pick up JDeF's route, an easy track through lovely pines. The gate and stile have long gone, and just a fence post remains. The path to the top is marked by a small cairn. Superb views all the way. Direct line down from the track to the reservoir in deep heather, then to the car on the reservoir track. When I say reservoir, it's a shed housing the water supply for Mar Lodge. | Gill | 24/09/2018 |
Camped in Glen Quoich then up Beinn Bhreac before doing Creag Bhalg. | Robinho08 | 19/11/2017 |
