Summit has been logged allowing good views. Two summit knolls but the eastern one with the cairn is the higher one.Adrian14/08/2022
track then up through the trees.robertphillips12/11/2021
Ascended from the NW, just afore the washed away path section. Mild bog at the bottom but a nice pathless ascent. Then SE to investigate Knock Castle through the bog before the field.ragudave19/06/2021
Made this into a 17km circuit by starting at Ballater Old Station, walking the path along the Dee over Pollhollick Bridge, then SW until just after a washed out section of track where a path goes up towards the Knock. It turns the wrong way, so off piste, very easy in winter, beware bracken in summer, cross a deer fence at a fallen tree, then up the ridge over 2 bumps before the top. SE linking old harvester tracks to join the track winding round SE then NW to the quarry. Extended towards the Dee via track NE from Dallyfour, then N to fishing chalet, good path along river through beautiful natural pine wood. Back over bridge and outwards path, extended via the path around Ballater golf course. Much shorter routes are available but this is a beautiful walk for a lovely spring-like day.Gill26/02/2021
Dropped off further west by little Tom Mor (tump) by Tony & Darren on their way to bigger things then a 8km run back to Ballater cottage along the road picking up 2 tumps. There is a large gathering of amusing garden gnomes and associated toadstools etc camped out in the woods down to the SW at Knocks House. In 1899 the Gordon Highlanders were camped out in Glen Muick and were paraded in front of Queen Victoria as she was passing along the SE foot of the hill on the South Deeside road heading to Balmoral. Shortly after the regiment embarked for South Africa where many of them laid down their lives in the Boer Wars.Chris Pearson08/09/2020
