My second visit, the first being in 2013. This time approached from the SW over Geal-charn Beag, after 3 Simms. My bike at the high point of the Burma Road made for a speedy descent to Lynwilg.NormanW18/02/2024
On an OMC Meet at Aviemore YH, with Nikko, Sharon, Liz, Moria and Alice (Liz's pal). We parked at the entrance to Scripture Union activity centre up stream from Kinara Distillery. Setting off at 09:15, we followed the good track (known as the Bruma Road) all the way to the Saddle, then turned left at the first cairn. Another group had overtaken us, so we used their footprints in the snow. No wind at all, blus skies and great views of the Cairngorm massif. Couple of inches of snow above 650m. We got back to the car for 13:40, this was Nikko's first winter hike and the weather was perfect.chillyman831/12/2023
Lynwilg, parked by bridge, but good cp at end of tarmac road. Up Burma Road to bealach and good path to summit. Back to bealach and straight across to Geal-charn Beag on trods and short heather. Back down Burma Road.Flatfield17/09/2023

From Lynwilg. Up Burma Road and left at cairn at the high point of the road. Solo. Was going to make it a round, as per the Walk Highlands suggestion BUT a very new high deer fence has been erected close to the high point as above, so no guarantee to be gate on the return via Ballinluig - would be useful if someone could let us know IF there is...DampandDusty03/03/2023
Solo from Lynwilg - after a morning up Brown Cow Hill & Carn Ealasaid, decided to get in a 3rd before the drive south. Parked near Altnacriche and then straight up Burma Road. Cyclist and some walkers coming down mentioned very strong winds at the top. Got to the big cairn at around 690m and took the path up to the summit. Very gusty up here, but tapped the trig and then returned back back down the Burma road. Total time: 2h 25min.mproudfoot30/10/2022

Second Corbett of the day. Via Burma Road. Lots of cyclists with electric mountain bikes wizzed past me. None got off to bag this Corbett though. Almost exactly 3 hrs.Jhimmy05/08/2021
From Lynwilg, walked along road to Altnacriche (where there is parking), continued along the Burma road to the col, then prominent track SW up to the summit of Geal-charn Mor, continued SW to Geal-charn Beag, the NW (meeting a fence line) to Carn nan Suilean Dubha, continued with fence line NW to Cnoc Fraing South Top, leaving fence northwards to reach that summit, then on to Cnoc Fraing itself, descended ENE to meet the Burma Road where it crossed the river (NH823157), followed it back to Lynwilgkdbennett09/07/2021

Quick bag (no.1) on the long drive north. Parked at the gate before Alltnacriche. Straight up the excellent track to its highpoint, then left up the broad stony path to the summit, everything making for fast progress.Owen B19/06/2021

Solo fr Lynwilg, easy running up track, but vile fierce wind esp on upper part w no shelter. Very easy descent! 1h 50m altogether. Overcast but some views and bright patches. Staying again in Farrow Apts Corpach, had to stop at Newtonmore Co-op for some dental tape as eating a raisin or something on the A86 drive had left a bit stuck between my teeth!NorfolkPT2116/07/2020
From Cairngorm Auto garage while waiting for new fuel filter, in snow and cloud. Up via interesting route through woods to NE, down boring road and along A9. With Sim. Rounsfell11/11/2019

From sleeper train, via bag drop at our AirBnB and a quick coffee at the great Mountain Cafe. From Aviemore via the Burma Road with GFE: trail running - 26km loop including Gael-charn Mor, Gael-charn Beag, Garbh-mheall Mor (both tops) and Carn Sleamhuinn.Fionalevey02/08/2019
From Lynwilg, along the An Gleannan track before heading up minor trails to Creag na h-lolaire. From here followed a fence line to Carn Deag Mor and Geal-charn Beag. Relatively easy trek over to Real-charn Mor, before heading back down the main path to rejoin the An Gleannan track. A smaller path heading down to Ballinluig was next taken, leaving it half way along to bag Creag Ghleannain before crossing the Allt Dubh to get back onto the main track back to Llynwilg.summitter29/06/2019
Went up in a force 8 gale. Views good towards Braeriach in the East (with an early dusting of snow) to Ben Wyvis in the Northrurquhart25/09/2018
On way back from windy week in Tomintoul. With Smithy from the road end above Lynwilg. Possible to drive right up to gate at the road end & park there. Followed huge track up to the large cairn on the col & then easily over short heather to the summit for a great view. Surprisingly busy even though it was Saturday. There are 2 other nearby points to SW of the trig which look almost identical in height if not higher. Last hill of the week & a view off every summit. Back by the same route & availed ourselves of the snacks on offer at the gate. Yum! No sign of any pigs though (or pig food).NotReallyABagger15/09/2018
7.6 there and back walk from Lynwilg, followed very good lane then track to summit, rather windy, high cloud with showers (that we missed), great view from summit over the Cairngorms and Monadhliath Mountains, visited honesty box for some snacks on descent.DanTrig15/06/2018

Walked from Lynwilg activity centre. Easy route up track.wozzat25/06/2017
Wow, what a walk, 10km we think round trip, took us about 4 hours. So glad to have this one in the bag, been putting it off due to the distance, but there is a great path all the way to the top and some excellent views over to the Cairngorms. Worth feeding the pigs at the bottom, you can buy food from the honesty box, they are so cute!thejackrustles13/05/2017
With John. Passed house with sign saying 'Beware of the Beagle. Please remove jewellery & mobiles before entering as he cannot digest them' Lovely track at a nice gradient. Passed honesty shop box in middle of nowhere. Saw 2 bunnies. Superb views of Cairngorms on way up. Cold wind and snow, so the bothy came out twice. Super views to south from the top. Saw a deer on the way down. Veryhappybunny17/04/2017
From Alltnacriche- parking at road end. Very good track to between this Ma and Geal-charn Beag. Then, wheel tracks and a path went all the way to the summit- a pleasant place to be on a warm, sunny day with good views before the Monadh Liath is trashed. With Pete. Gill's M600 walk, with John Gilbert, Jenx and Nigel Morters. Mizzly wet conditions with a gusty wind, meant we were well wet by the top. Nice party in the shelter though with cake, mince pies and whisky & mulled wine. Very fetching! A speedy descent to then go collect Ord Ban for Nigel's M800.nordicstar30/12/2016

A round of Geal Charn Mor and 5 associated graham tops from Geal Charn Beag to Cnoc Frain from Lynwilg road end A good day on the whole, some paths on map, particularly the return path and the path to near Geal Charn Beag do not exist on the ground. I know I was on the right line on the return path because there was an old gate in a fence but definitely no path. Mainly reasonable going.dickscroop18/10/2015

Solo. From point near Loch Alvie on A9152. I walked along the private tarred drive which goes round the NE side of Loch Alvie. Once across the A9 took a track (rather indistinct in parts) going north, which passes to west of Scripture Union holiday house. Joined a good track which comes up from Lynwilig and followed this track to north of Allt Dubh. At path junction where main track begins to descend towards River Dulnain went SW to reach trig point and summit of Geal-chairn Mòr. Went ESE to join path going down to Ballinluig (higher up path not at all clear). From Ballinluig on tarred track back to start. Drizzle from time to time – snowing on summit area.pwbellarby15/04/1995

Blizzards and drifting snow were giving white out conditions IN Aviemore & on the A9 - and pretty nasty on this hill which should have been an easy climb but unnerving in white out on upper slopes on my own -had to trust to compass and knowledge that I was on safe ground and not about to walk through a cornice at every step. Then drove back to Sheffield for a compulsory days work before returning to Glencoe for New Year.Chris Pearson27/12/1990
