| Solo from Brae Roy Lodge. Followed track past lodge and up Glen Turret, past remains of two old croft buildings and rossed Allt Eachach ascending Teanga Mhor, initially very steep with deep vegitation. Very poor visibility top top of (North) Carn Dearg. Decent S to col then up to summit of (South) Carn Dearg. Visibility now extremely poor requiring compass work to locate route back to Glen Turret keeping just E of Allt Dearg. Crossed the Parallel Roads and through the moraine back to the good track and Turret Bridge. | John Lee | 16/07/2023 |
| Combination of the Eachach Càrn Deargs and Càrn Dearg (Bhrunachain) - solo from small parking area by footbridge of the River Roy nr Brae Roy Lodge. Track past lodge and over turret bridge, took track along Glen Turret before ascending up to Teanga Mor, then up to the first Carn Dearg (815m) of the day. Dropped down to bealach at the head of Gleann Eachach and then up to second summit (768). Dropped down to Leckroy, crossing river and then heading up from Canal Burn to third Carn Dearg (834m). Descended via Carn Bhrunachain back down to the car. Total time: 5h 59min. | mproudfoot | 06/05/2023 |
| Meall a’ Chromhlain, accessed via footbridge at 333930 not shown on 1:50k map. Cross to Beinn Bhan using an ATV track to help navigate the bog. (This whole route is very wet and full of peat hags.) Carn na Larach to Carn dearg (N). Easy walking to Glas Charn, which has great views. Cross to bealach between Carn Dearg (N) and Meallan Odhar keeping a high line to avoid the worst of the hags. From Meallan Odhar to Carn Dearg (S) and then on to Carn Dearg Beag and Glas Bheinn by obvious route. Descent to track by going roughly south to hit track at point where the Allt na Glas Bheinne meets it. The terrain on this slope is very benign, especially when compared with the rest of the route! | 09/04/2023 Largely followed the route described on the Walkhighlands site, with a detour to the Simm of Meall Odhar added on. As has been stated below, there is a decent path after the sheep fank in Glen Turret, and a bridge over the Allt Eachach, before the sharp slog up the side of Teanga Mhor. | In brilliant sunshine all day with Rhona and Struie. Basically following the clockwise route on Walk Highland bagging the two furthest Carn Deargs down the glen. Parking where the public road runs out before Brae Roy bridge. | Solo fr NN335911 10am, back to car 1:15pm after two Carn Deargs! Rough moor from first Carn Dearg but easier, with fewer peat groughs. Dry, overcast and cool. Top clear but not much to see. | It’s a lovely walk up Glen Turret, and good to find an old-fashioned stalker’s path at the end of the landrover track. There’s a bridge over the Allt Eachach, and the path goes right up the glen. It’s the topmost path, not the sheep tracks, and, although faint, it’s marked with small cairns (note to cairn kickers: leave them alone, they’re historic monuments, put there by shepherds and stalkers). Leaving the path, a rising traverse on rough stuff gives tough going to the mossy top of big Carn Dearg. Down is also rough, with gruesome peat hags at the col, but the climb to little Carn Dearg is on easy grass. Seriously cold and windy, with snow, so very glad of a super-fast climb, for warmth. A brief huddle by the cairn and off down to Sron a’Ghoill on easy ground, then a descending traverse to the path. On removing the cag at the path, I was amazed to find water pouring out of the cuffs of the Buffalo. That’s some wet then! | Gill | 13/04/2017 |
