Set off over the Loch Luichart Dam, along a good track westwards. A vehicle and pedestrian gate about a kilometre west of Glenmarksie provided access onto the open hill. Steep in places, but relatively straightforward ascent to Sgurr Marcasaidh East Top, then far more pleasant saunter over to the main summit. Decided to next head north over heather to grab Meall Loch a' Bhealaich and Druim a' Ghiubhais, before skirting the south bank of Loch a' Bhealaich to the craggier Creag nan Corrachan. Sgurrachd Ire was next, then descended SW towards Braigh Lochan, finding an ATV track half way down to relieve the heather dreariness. Popped up the more pleasant and slightly treed Carn Dubh, which involved a deer fence clamber, before re-joining the track that leads all the way back to the dam and adjacent car park. | summitter | 15/09/2021 |
